In this work, we propose an analytic framework for dimensioning the link capacity of broadband access networks which provide universal broadband access services to a diverse kind of customers such as patient and impatient customers. The proposed framework takes into account the flow-level quality of service (QoS) of a connection as well as the packet-level QoS, via which a simple and systematic provisioning and operation of the network are provided. To that purpose, we first discuss the necessity of flow-aware network dimensioning by reviewing the networking technologies of the current and future access network. Next, we propose an analytic model for dimensioning the link capacity for an access node of broadband convergence networks which takes into account both the flow and packet level QoS requirements. By carrying out extensive numerical experiment for the proposed model assuming typical parameters that represent real network environment, the validity of the proposed method is assessed.

Recently, there have been the rapid increasing needs to integrate high-speed communications and digital TV in home network. To realize the integration of those services, the MIC formulated the broadband convergence network (BcN) plan as one of the new growth engines. The BcN will be implemented by FTTH solutions and these solutions are designed to support digital home network. To develop and promote the BcN, we need to find the bandwidth requirements for home network. This paper will examine the bandwidth requirements in detail to accommodate data traffics for high-speed communications and TV at building intra network and home intra network.

BcN is a high-quality broadband network for multimedia services integrating telecommunication, broadcasting, and Internet seamlessly at anywhere, anytime, and using any device. BcN is Particularly vulnerable to intrusion because it merges various traditional networks, wired, wireless and data networks. Because of this, one of the most important aspects in BcN is security in terms of reliability. So, in this paper, we suggest the sharing mechanism of security data among various service networks on the BcN. This distributed, hierarchical architecture enables BcN to be robust of attacks and failures, controls data traffic going in and out the backbone core through IP edge routers integrated with IDRS. Our proposed anomaly detection scheme on IDRS for BcN service also improves detection rate compared to the previous conventional approaches.

광대역 통합망은 유무선 통합, 통신과 방송 응합, 음성 및 데이터의 통합을 위해 필요한 네트워크를 서비스 계층, 제어 계층, 전달망 계층, 접속 계층, 유비쿼터스 접속 및 가입자 단말 계층으로 구분한다. BcN은 사용자가 원하는 품질과 보안의 정도에 따라 차별화된 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스 제공 및 관리가 가능한 네트워크이다. 본고는 현재 진행 중인 BcN 시범 사업에 대하여 기술한다. 우선, 통합 서비스를 제공하기 위한 기본 인프라인 광대역 통합망(BcN, Broadband convergence Network)의 개념, 서비스 특징 및 발전방향 등을 간략히 나타낸다. 그리고 정부의 IT839 전략의 중점 추진과제로 진행 중인 1단계 BcN 시범 사업의 내용과 시범 사업자로 선정된 3개 컨소시엄의 서비스 내용 등을 제시한다. 현재 BcN 시범 사업자로 UbiNet 컨소시엄, Octave 컨소시엄 및 광개토 컨소시엄이 선정된 상태이다. 각 컨소시엄에서는 BcN 환경에 적합한 다양한 서비스 모델 발굴 및 기술개발을 위해 BcN 시범 서비스를 진행할 예정이며, 제공 예정인 BcN 시범 서비스에는 음성 데이터 통합 서비스, 유무선 통합 서비스, 통방 융합 서비스 및 기타 응용 서비스 등이 있다.

오늘날의 개발자들은 서비스를 생성함에 있어서 몇번의 클릭만으로도 간단하게 서비스를 개발할 수 있는 환경을 갖추었다. 이는 서비스를 개발하는 환경이 사용자가 최소한의 지식만을 가지고 개발 할 수 있도록 자동화 되어가고 있기 때문이다. 개방형 서비스에 있어서도 기존의 Parlay 를 단순화한 Parlay X 가 탄생하였고, 더 나아가 Parlay X 의 API 들을 개발자들이 쉽게 사용할 수 있게 해주는 SCE(Service Creation Environment)툴이 개발되게 되었다. 개발자를 위한 환경의 변화에 발 맞추어, SCE 의 범위는 더욱 넓어 졌다. 기존의 기능을 쉽게 사용할 수 있게 해주는 좁은 의미의 SCE 에서 서비스 생성 도구들을 사용자가 잘 이해하고 사용할 수 있도록 하는 방법도 중요한 이슈가 된 것이다. 본 논문에서는 통신망 응용 서비스에 대한 전문적인 지식이 없는 서비스 생성 도구 사용자가 개방형 서비스를 생성함에 있어서 어떠한 순서와 방법을 적용하면 효과적으로 서비스 생성을 체험할 수 있는지를 제안한다.

개방형 서비스개발자들은 SCE(service Creation Environment) 도구를 사용하여 망에 대한 전문적인 지식이 없더라도 예전보다 쉽고 빠르게 서비스를 개발할 수 있게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 툴킷 라이브러리 형태의 SCE를 제공하는 방법을 제안한다. SCE 툴킷 라이브러리는 SCE를 SDK((Software Development Kit) 형태로 제공한다. 이는 기존의 IDE(Integrated Development Environment) 환경에 라이브러리 형식으로 SCE 기능을 추가할 수 있게 함으로써, 개발자가 기존에 사용하던 친숙한 환경에서 서비스를 개발할 수 있도록 해준다. 또한 Parlay X API, 웹 2.0 API, 유틸리티 API를 제공하는데 있어서 복잡한 API 및 파라미터를 추상화하여 제공하는 방법을 제안한다. 이러한 SCE 툴킷 라이브러리는 창조적인 새로운 서비스의 출현에 많은 기여를 할 것으로 전망된다.

NGN (Next Generation Network)은 유무선 통신 방송 데이터가 융합된 품질보장형 광대역 서비스를 언제 어디서나 안전하게 즐길 수 있게 하는 국제표준을 준용하는 차세대통신망이다. BcN(Broadband Convergence Network)은 국내에서 추진 중인 NGN의 다른 이름이다. BcN/NGN 서비스를 효율적으로 제공하기 위해서 필수적인 요소 기술 중 가장 중요한 기술로 QoS 제어 기술이 있다. 즉 기존의 최선형 서비스의 대표적인 인터넷과는 달리 품질 기반의 통합서비스 제공을 목표로 하고 있는 BcN/NGN에서는 적절한 품질제어는 필수기술 이다. 본고에서는 BcN/NGN에서의 QoS 제어 기술 및 표준 동향을 살펴본다.

In this paper, we deal with a network optimization problem arising from the deployment of Ethernet-based BcN access network. BcN convergence services require that access networks satisfy QoS measures. BcN services have two types of traffics: stream traffic and elastic traffic. Stream traffic uses blocking probability as a QoS measure, while elastic traffic uses delay factor as a QoS measure. Incorporating the QoS requirements, we formulate the problem as a nonlinear mixed-integer programming model. The proposed model seeks to find a minimum cost dimensioning solution, while satisfying the QoS requirement. We propose tabu search heuristic algorithms for solving the problem, and simulate tabu result. We demonstrate the computational efficacy of the proposed algorithm by solving a network design problem.

광대역 통합망(BcN, Broadband convergence Network)은 유무선 통합, 통신과 방송 융합, 음성 및 데이터의 통합을 통하여 사용자가 원하는 품질과 보안의 정도에 따라 차별화된 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스 제공 및 관리가 가능한 네트워크이다. 본 고는 광대역 통합망의 개념 및 특징을 간략히 설명하고 SK Telecom 주관 UbiNet 컨소시엄의 1단계 (04년${\sim}$05년) 시범 사업을 통해 개발된 BcN 서비스의 내용, 인프라 구조 및 시스템 요구사항 등을 제시한다. 그리고 향후 전개될 2단계 BcN 서비스 및 SKT의 BcN 추진 방향을 제시한다.

21세기를 맞이하여 서비스, 단말 및 매체의 "개인화," "이동화" 및 "융합화"의 경향이 급속도로 확산되고 있으며, 이러한 조류의 최전선에 통방융합이 자리하고 있다. 기술의 발전에 따라 사용자의 요구가 변화되고, 이러한 변화는 이종 기술 및 서비스의 융합을 시도하게 만들었다. 지금까지 수년에 걸쳐 통신과 방송분야에서 기술 및 서비스의 융합이 시도되어 왔으나 실제 사용자 측면에서의 가시적인 결실은 미미하였던 것이 사실이다. 이러한 현실은 IPTV(Internet Protocol TV)나 DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)가 등장함에 따라 생활에 바로 적용이 가능한 현실적인 서비스가 되었다. 이와 같은 현실을 바탕으로 BcN(Broadband Convergence Network)에서의 IPTV 및 DMB 서비스에 대한 기술과 현황 및 전망을 살펴본다.
