  • Existing methodologies and practical ontology development experiences have explored a broad spectrum of knowledge management challenges. Each has its own characteristics and evaluates only a subset of specific domain. However, there is still no one 'correct' way or methodology for developing ontologies. In this paper, we described a methodology for domain driven ontology development, covering the whole lifecycle from the formalization of domain to the evolution of ontologies.

Synthetis of 4H,6H-Furo[3,4-c]isoxazole Derivatives as New Potent Fungicides and Their Structure Activity Relationship

  • 4H,6H-Furo[3,4-c]isoxazoles (Ⅰ-Ⅳ), potential fungicides, have been designed and synthesized via intramolecular [2+3] cycloaddition of nitroalkyne 3 as a key step. The broad spectrum of fungicidal activities of furoisoxazoles (Ⅰ-Ⅳ) were observed on plant pathogens at 250 ppm. Furoisoxazoles Ⅱ, Ⅲ with chlorophenyl at 6-position and methyl or alkylated oxime group at 3-position gave effective control of plant diseases. The furoisoxazole Ⅳ with a chlorophenyl group at 4-position also resulted in high fungicidal activities.

  • Waksman's group discovered SM in 1944, and opened a new field of antibiotcs: i. e. AGs. A large group of antibiotics containing aminosugar and/or aminocyclitol is called the AGs. A majority of AGs are produced by actinomycetes. In the first period, AGs effective against tuberculosis were chiefly examined. Following the studies on NM and KM, AGs active against staphyllococci and gram-negative robs were investigated. The discovery of GM and synthesis of DKB and AMK led to the studies on the third generation AGs, which show a broad antimicrobial spectrum including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and drug-resistant bacteria. Since opportunistic infection caused by drug-resistant bacteria are increasing, the third generation AGs are extensively investigated at present.

  • Inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase(IMPDH) catalyzes the $NAD^+$-dependent oxidation of IMP to XMP, the rate limiting step in the de novo biosynthesis of guanine nucleotide. Its critical role at the metabolic branch point in purine nucleotide biosynthesis makes it a useful target in the development of drugs for antiviral and anticancer chemotherapy and in immunosupressant area. Several compound with antiviral activity have been found to be inhibitors of IMPDH. For example, ribavirin, a competitive inhibitor of IMPDH, has broad spectrum antiviral activities against DNA and RNA viruses. (omitted)

  • Cefuroxime axetil, a broad spectrum antibiotic, has been known to form a gelatinous mass in contact with aqueous media, which could lead to poor dissolution. Therefore, this study was conducted for removing the gelling phenomenon and thereby obtaining a favorable dissolution profile. We have found that the addition of poly (methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate) could not only inhibit the tendency of cefuroxime axetil to form a gel but also showed the good dissolution profile compared to the formula without poly (methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate).   • Headache is one of the most common neurological disorders in children and adults and can cause significant distress and disability in children and their families. The spectrum of pediatric headaches is broad, and the underlying etiology is variable. The symptoms and phenotypes of headaches in children may differ slightly from those in adults. It is important to have a good understanding of headaches in children and to distinguish between primary and secondary headaches through appropriate history assessment and neurological examination. Accurate diagnosis and appropriate drug selection are helpful for effective treatment. This article reviews headaches in children and adolescents, focusing on approaches for diagnosis and management.

Raman O VI Profile Analysis of Accretion and Bipoloar Outflow in Sanduleak's Star

  • Sanduleak's star is a suspected symbiotic binary located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is known that it has a giant jet with physical size ~ 14pc. Its spectrum shows two strong emission bands at $6825{\AA}$ and $7082{\AA}$, which are originated from Raman-scattering of O VI by neutral hydrogen atoms. We present the high-resolution spectrum of Sanudleak's star obtained with MIKE at the Magellan-Caly telescope to investigate the O VI emission region based on the profiles of the two Raman features. In this spectrum, it is noted that the Raman $6825{\AA}$ feature exhibits a single broad peak profile, which is in high contrast with a clear triple peak profile of the Raman $7082{\AA}$ feature. In our analysis we suggest that the O VI emission region consist of three main emission parts: an accretion disk, a bipolar outflow and an optically thick, compact component surrounding the white dwarf. By performing Monte Carlo simulation we constrain the representative column density of the H I scattering region N_HI ~1${\times}$10^23 cm^-2, which is in accordance with the observed flux ratio in the two Raman features F(6825)/F(7082) ~ 4.5.

  • Microwave diagnostics method for plasma science and engineering is vigorous research area for its good characteristics such as high sensitivity, reliability, and broad measurement spectrum from low density plasma to high density. We investigate mechanism of microwave probes (hairpin, impedance and absorbtionf probe) and apply it for interpretation of full transmitted spectrum of cutoff probe. Mechanism of the spectrum having same key roles of I-V curve of Langmuir probe is not exactly revealed yet in spite of its importance. This study elucidates physics behind it using a circuit model and E/M wave simulation. Circuit model reveals exact cut-off peak frequency taking account of a collision frequency and a plasma frequency and it enable precise diagnostics of plasma densty from low pressure to high pressre. Cut-off like peaks have been obstacle for choosing cut-off peak is analyzed by E/M simulation and one of cutoff like peaks made by probe holder used for acquire plasma density with cutoff peak applying the hairpin relation. Furthermore, phase difference method for plasma density is conducted. This method uses a single microwave frequency source and it is low-priced.

Coherent Absorption Spectroscopy with Supercontinuum for Semiconductor Quantum Well Structure

  • We suggest that supercontinuum can be used for absorption spectroscopy to observe the exciton levels of a semiconductor nano-structure. Exciton absorption spectrum of a GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well was observed using supercontinuum generated by a microstructrured fiber pumped by a femtosecond (fs) pulsed laser. Significantly narrower peaks were observed in the absorption spectrum from 11 K up to room temperature than photoluminescence (PL) spectrum peaks. Because supercontinuum is coherent light and can readily provide high enough intensity, this method can provide a coherent ultra-broad band light source to identify exciton levels in semiconductors, and be applicable to coherent nonlinear spectroscopy such as electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT), lasing without inversion (LWI) and coherent photon control in semiconductor quantum structures.
