역설계를 통한 Flip-Flap 밸브형 분리식 커플링에 관한 연구 (Flip-Flap Valve-Type Breakaway Coupling through Reverse Engineering)

  • This study is a structural analysis of 3" Cryogenic Safety Breakaway Coupling using a manufactured product from KLAW Company. Breakaway coupling is very important in the pipe system, especially when transporting fuel or gas in the pipeline. For the analysis of the patent infringement target, Dover and KLAW Company's technologies (US 08127785, EP 0764809) were analyzed. Finally, the flip-flap valve overlap was measured after combining the breakaway coupling through 3D modeling, and the valve overlap had a 0.7mm measurement value from the height gauge. The safety breakaway coupling consisted of a total of 62 pieces (body: 42, valve module: 21).

Effect of Mo and Mn Addition on the Oxidation Behavior of Binary Ti-Al Alloys

  • Binary Ti-Al alloys below 51.0 mass%Al content exhibit a breakaway, transferring from parabolic to linear rate law. The second $Al_2O_3$ layer might have some protectiveness before breakaway. Ti-63.1 mass%Al oxidized at 1173 K under parabolic law. Breakaway oxidation is observed in every alloy, except for Ti-63.1 mass%Al. After breakaway, oxidation rates of the binary TiAl alloys below 34.5 mass%Al obey almost linear kinetics. The corrosion rate of Ti-63.1 mass%Al appears to be almost parabolic. As content greater than 63.0 mass% is found to be necessary to form a protective alumina film. Addition of Mo improves the oxidation resistance dramatically. No breakaway is observed at 1123 K, and breakaway is delayed by Mo addition at 1173 K. At 1123 K, no breakaway, but a parabolic increase in mass gain, are observed in the Mo-added TiAl alloys. The binary Ti-34.5 mass%Al exhibits a transfer from parabolic to linear kinetics. At 1173 K, the binary alloys show vary fast linear oxidation and even the Mo-added alloys exhibit breakaway oxidation. The 2.0 mass%Mo-added TiAl exhibits a slope between linear and parabolic. At values of 4.0 and 6.0 mass% added TiAl alloys, slightly larger rates are observed than those for the parabolic rate law, even after breakaway. On those alloys, the second $Al_2O_3$ layer appears to be persistently continuous. Oxidation resistance is considerably degraded by the addition of Mn. Mn appears to have the effect of breaking the continuity of the second $Al_2O_3$ layer.

  • We propose an equivalent model of a sintered metal mesh filter calculated by Ergun's equation and polynomial regression for the CFD analysis of breakaway devices at a hydrogen fueling station. CFD analysis of filters that cause high pressure loss is essential because breakaway devices in high-pressure hydrogen conditions require low pressure loss. A differential pressure experiment with a filter was performed in a low-pressure air condition considering similarities. An equivalent model was developed by deriving the resistance value by the polynomial regression using the experimental results. The results of CFD analysis using the equivalent model show that there was almost no error in the operating condition of the breakaway device compared to the experimental results. Through this work, we believe that the proposed equivalent model of a filter can be applied to the analysis of breakaway devices in hydrogen fueling stations. We will study how to optimize the shape and position of the filter in breakaway devices using the developed equivalent model.

INFLUENCE OF FUEL-MATRIX INTERACTION ON THE BREAKAWAY SWELLING OF U-MO DISPERSION FUEL IN AL

  • In order to advance understanding of the breakaway swelling behavior of U-Mo/Al dispersion fuel under a high-power irradiation condition, the effects of fuel-matrix interaction on the fuel performance of U-Mo/Al dispersion fuel were investigated. Fission gas release into large interfacial pores between interaction layers and the Al matrix was analyzed using both mechanistic models and observations of the post-irradiation examination results of U-Mo dispersion fuels. Using the model predictions, advantageous fuel design parameters are recommended to prevent breakaway swelling.

소형지주에 충돌하는 차량의 속도변화 산정방법과 영향인자 (Calculation Method and Influence Factor for Speed Change of a Vehicle Impacting Small Sign Post)

  • Breakaway 단부장치 설계에 중요한 요소가 충돌 차량의 속도변화이다. 이는 충돌실험이나 3차원 유한요소 해석을 통해서 구할 수 있으나 에너지와 운동량 보존의 법칙을 이용하여 비교적 간단하게 계산할 수도 있다. 본 논문에서는 에너지와 운동량 보존의 법칙에 기초한 지주와 소형차 충돌 시 속도변화를 계산하는 식을 유도하였다. 이를 이용한 민감도 분석을 통하여 지주 단부의 분리하중, 파괴에너지, 차량의 강도 와 충돌속도가 소형지주에 충돌하는 차량의 속도변화에 미치는 영향을 파악하였다. 지주 단부가 기초에 고정된 정도를 나타내는 분리력 및 분리파괴에너지(Breakaway Fracture Energy)가 클수록 속도변화가 크고 충돌속도의 크기가 작을수록 속도변화가 크게 나타났다.

  • We develop a numerical method for solving the radiation hydrodynamic equations in one-dimensional spherical coordinates. The present method is validated through simulations of shock tube, thermal radiative diffusion and point explosion problems. The transient growth of the fireball is investigated by varying explosion yields. The present study clearly captures well-known breakaway phenomena related to the shock separation between pressure waves and thermal shock front. The fireball radius at the breakaway point is roughly increased by the yield to power of 0.4.

  • 본 연구는 면적 $0.293\;m^2{\sim}0.360\;m^2$의 소형표지판용 지주의 풍하중에 대한 구조적 안정성을 유지하면서도 작은 충돌에도 분리가 일어나도록 고안된 내경 6 mm의 D12 mm 중공형 인덴티드 볼트를 이용한 소형지주용 브레이크어웨이 단부장치의 구조적 안전성을 정적 전단 및 인장실험으로 입증하고 동적특성을 이해하는데 기본이 되는 인덴티드 볼트의 분리 파괴에너지를 펜듈럼 실험과 비선형 동적해석 프로그램인 LS-DYNA 프로그램을 이용하여 구하고 두 가지 방법을 비교한 것이다. 인덴티드 볼트 3개로 이루어진 단부장치는 풍하중 43.1 kg$\sim$51.2 kg를 충분히 지지할 수 있는 것으로 나타났으며 인덴티드 볼트 1개 당 파괴에너지는 펜듈럼 실험값이 163.3J, 시뮬레이션 값이 153J로 유사하게 계산되어 모델의 유효성이 확인되었다.

대체 비상탈출 조건을 고려한 초음속 전투기용 캐노피 작동부 구조해석 (Multi-body Dynamic Structural Dynamic Analysis of a Canopy System for Supersonic Fighter Considering Backup Emergency Egress Conditions)

  • In this study, analysis of structural design criteria for the canopy actuating device has been conducted considering the aerodynamic breakaway capabilities of jettisonable canopy system. Unsteady aerodynamic loads for the opened canopy configuration at passively controlled jettision mode were computed using CFD method. The general purpose multi-body finite element code, SAMCEF Mecano, is used in the implemented analyses for the passive jettision condition. The recommended altitude and speed of aircraft was suggested as design criteria of aerodynamic breakaway capability of jettisonable canopy system as a bakup egress method when normal canopy jettison sequence malfunctioned. Aerodynamic breakaway condition of jettisonable canopy was also simulated and the fracture load conditions of canopy actuator were investigated.

수소화물에 의한 Zr 합금의 고온산화 가속효과 (Hydrogen Effect on the Oxidation of Zr-Alloy Claddings under High Temperature)

  • The operation method of nuclear power plants is currently changing to high burn-up and long period that can enhance economics and efficiency of the plant. Since nuclear plant operation environment has been becoming severe, the amount of absorbed hydrogen also has increased. Absorbed hydrogen can be fatal securing safety of nuclear fuel cladding in case of Loss of Coolant Accidents(LOCA). In order to examine the impact of hydride on high-temperature oxidation, high-temperature oxidation experiment was performed on normal Zry-4 cladding and on Zry-4 cladding where hydrogen is charged in air pressure steam atmosphere under the $950^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$. According to the results, while oxidation acceleration due to charged hydrogen was not observed prior to breakaway oxidation creation, oxidation began to accelerate in cladding where hydrogens charged as soon as the breakaway oxidation started. If so much hydrogen are charged in the cladding, equiaxial monoclinic phase to unstable of stress is formed and it is presumed that oxidation is accelerated because nearby stress caused a crack in equiaxial phase, and that makes corrosion resistance decline sharply.

소형표지판 지주와 차량의 충돌해석에 관한 연구 (Study on the Analysis of Vehicle Impact to Small Sign Support)

  • 원형 혹은 H형 단면의 표지판지주에 소형차가 충돌할 때 차량 및 지주의 거동을 확인하기 위하여 Barrier VII 프로그램을 이용한 시뮬레이션을 실시하였다. 이 프로그램은 연성 베리어에 충돌하는 차량의 운동과 베리어의 변위를 해석하는 프로그램이나, 지주를 수평 빔 요소로 하고 각 노드에 강성을 조절한 기둥 요소로 연결함으로써 소형지주에 대한 충돌해석이 가능함을 보였다. 0.9ton 소형차가 기초와 강결된 파이프형태의 소형 지주에 30km/h, 60km/h, 70km/h 110km/h의 속도로 충돌하는 경우, 0.9ton 소형차와 1.35ton 중형차가 기초에 강결된 H형 단면 지주에 110km/h의 속도로 충돌하는 경우, 그리고 0.9ton 소형차가 분리되는(slip base) 형태로 기초에 연결된 파이프형태의 소형 지주에 110km/h의 속도로 충돌하는 경우 등 총 7가지 경우에 대한 시뮬레이션을 실시하여 지주의 변형과 충돌차량의 거동을 분석하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 고속충돌 시 기초에 강결 된 원형지주의 경우 과다한 휨 변형으로 표지판과 차량 전면부와의 충돌위험성이 있고 H형 지주와 같이 비교적 큰 표지판용 지주는 소형차 충돌 시 지주의 변형은 거의 없고 차량에 가해지는 충격력, 지주가 과다하게 차체 안으로 침투할 위험성이 크다는 사실과 breakaway 장치로 단부처리를 하는 경우 위험이 줄어들 수 있음을 확인하였다.
