  • One of the most latest trends in today's marketing practice is to create branded contents for interacting with online consumers. Marketers are increasingly adopting behind-the-scene contents which disclose a brand's backstage information in their contents marketing efforts. The current study conceptualizes this behind-the-scene storytelling based on dramaturgical theory and investigates its impacts on consumer responses. The study also examines how consumers advertising skepticism level would influence on the evaluation of branded contents. In addition, the moderating role of advertising skepticism in evaluating brand's backstage information is investigated. The findings suggests that consumers who are exposed to brand's backstage indicate greater information attitude, brand attitude, and purchase intention than those who are not exposed to brand's backstage. Also consumers who have lower advertising skepticism evaluated branded contents more positively than high ad skepticism consumers. Lastly, the moderating role of advertising skepticism on the impact of brand's backstage disclosure is reported.

  • Within the metaverse platform, users engage in communication with others through 'avatars' reflecting their own identities. Users experience various virtual fashion items through avatars, and the fashion industry anticipates avatars wearing virtual fashion items as an emerging business opportunity. Many fashion brands are currently releasing virtual fashion items specifically designed for avatars. In this study, we examined the impact of user identification with their avatar on their perception of the attributes of virtual fashion items (investment attractiveness, scarcity, playfulness, and aesthetics) and its influence on behavioral intentions. The research involved a survey of 250 females with prior knowledge of the metaverse. Structural equation modeling analysis was conducted to examine research hypotheses and validate the model. The results confirmed that as users within the metaverse perceive greater identification with their avatar, they also perceive the attributes of virtual fashion items more favorably. This finding affirms the self-reference effect, where users positively evaluate objects associated with themselves. Additionally, perceiving the attributes of virtual fashion items was found to be positively linked to purchase intentions for virtual products and actual interest in the brand. Lastly, a higher intention to purchase virtual fashion items was associated with forming a more favorable attitude toward the respective brand. Consequently, this study provides academic and practical implications for marketing strategies within the metaverse, emphasizing the active utilization of avatars and elements that facilitate user-avatar identification for effective engagement.

  • This study focuses on the network externality effect related to the platform supplementary services. This study designs the network externality of platform and suggests a supplementary service adoption model. Additionally, this study examines the moderating effect of demand forecasting for the platform. Using AMOS program, a structural equation modeling has been used to analyze the research model. The findings can be summarized as follows : First, we find out the structural relationship among the factors (usefulness, perceived value, purchase intention) affecting adoption of the supplementary services. Second, positive perception of platform flow can promote the platform interaction. Third, positive perception of present users based on platform can arouse friendly evaluation in the platform interaction. Fourth, loyalty to the platform brand can improve the perceived usefulness of supplementary services, but cannot lessen the resistance to supplementary service cost. In addition, the moderating effects of demand forecasting for the platform in the path leading from platform factors to supplementary service factors were identified. In conclusion, traditional brand strategy may be effective in platform marketing activities but the extent of performance in the strategy can appear to be quite different. Therefore, taking the relationship with network externality into consideration should be involved in the marketing strategy in platform.

  • Nostalgia advertising is one of the key and effective tools for marketers to capture the attention of consumers. Prior studies have identified two types of nostalgia, personal and historical. The aim of this research is to learn more about historical nostalgia and its influence on consumer brand purchase intentions. A convenience sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 182 respondents via Google forms. The study then used partial least square structural equation modeling. In PLS-SEM, we applied a measurement model to obtain the results related to reliability, validity, and model fitness. Once the desired results are achieved, the study proceeded to the structural model where results related to hypotheses were obtained. The study's findings corroborated the literature, revealing that historical nostalgia advertisements have a significant impact on consumers' cognition and emotions, leading to an effect on attitudes. The serial process has the effect of influencing consumer buying intentions. Hence, the importance of nostalgia advertising proposed in the study was established through empirical evidence. Policymakers, organizations, and advertising agencies in Pakistan are recommended to implement nostalgia advertising techniques based on the findings and are encouraged to do so for immediate benefits.

  • Here, we aimed to determine, using meta-analyses, the relative importance of factors influencing cosmetic purchasing behaviors. Specifically, effect sizes were compared for studies that included and excluded consumers aged in their fifties to identify and rank factors that have a major impact on the purchasing behavior of new seniors-individuals who have recently emerged as an important consumer group in the cosmetics market. To this end, 77 Korean journal articles, and masters and doctoral theses with cosmetic purchasing behavior as a dependent variable published between 2008 and 2017 were selected, and effect sizes of correlation coefficients were calculated for relevant variables. The study findings are as follows. First, the total effect size for factors influencing purchase behavior of cosmetics was slightly larger than medium and was statistically significant. Second, mediators, age, gender, item, price, and source were found to have statistically significant effect sizes. Third, for studies that included consumers aged in their fifties, user attributes and brand attributes were identified as important variables that were more influential at the purchase intention stage than the purchase stage, suggesting an age-group effect on cosmetic purchasing behavior. By identifying factors influencing cosmetic purchasing behaviors using a comparison of studies with and without consumers aged in their fifties, there appears to be significant implications for cosmetic marketing strategies aimed at new seniors.
