자동차 브레이크용 고분자복합재료의 물리적 특성평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Physical Properties of Polymer-based Composite Materials for the Brake of the Automobile)

  • The rapid expansion for the auto-industry and the worldwide trend toward non-asbestos friction materials for brake lining force our industry to transfer into non-asbestos ones from asbestos-based friction materials. Furthermore, it is imperative for the friction materials to have technological excellence and lower production cost to be competitive in the world market. There is no known theoretical procedures to formulate friction materials. It, rather, depends on the trial and error process. Thus, it is quite clear how important it is to accumulate the know-how on the formulation and manufacturing the friction material. This study concerns the practical ways of conceptualizing the formulation and optimizing the manufacturing process. This study focused on the development of formulation for non-asbestos friction material as well as deriving the physical properties of the trial product to prove its validity and applicability. Elaboration of the formula and optimizing scheme of the manufacturing process to get better quality are also sought. Physical properties were obtained by constant velocity test dynamotest, hardness test and strength test. Differential scanning calorimeter was also used to analyze the thermal reactions of organic constituents, microstructures, bond effects, and degree of mixture.

구분모드합성에 의한 드럼 브레이크 스퀼 소음 해석 및 저감 (Squeal Noise Analysis and Reduction of Drum Brake Using Component Mode Synthesis)

  • Recent studies have dealt with brake squeal in terms of the coupled vibration of brake component parts. In this paper, we assemble the mode models derived from FE analysis of the individual components of the drum brake system into the system model by considering the friction interaction of the lining and drum at the interface. The validity of the component models are backed up by the experimental confirmation work. By scrutinizing the real parts of the complex eigen-values of the system, the unstable modes, which may be strong candidate sources of squeal noise, are identified. Mode participation factors are calculated to examine the modal coupling mechanism. The model predictions for the unstable frequencies pointed well the actual squeal noise frequencies measured through field test. Sensitivity analysis is also performed to identify parametric dependency trend of the unstable modes, which would indicate the direction for the squeal noise reduction design. Finally, reduction of the squeal noise tendency through shape modification is tried.

철도차량 제동 HILS 시스템의 개선된 윤축속력 구현 (Improved Wheelset Speed Implementation of a Brake HILS System for a Railway Vehicle)

  • The hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) of a railway vehicle is crucial for overcoming the limitation of field tests of a railway vehicle. A brake HILS system for a railway vehicle was previously not able to test the performance of a speed-sensing system of a railway vehicle, since wheelset speeds were generated only by computer simulations. In this paper, we present a novel wheelset speed implementation of a brake HILS system for a railway vehicle. Four wheelset speeds of a brake HILS system for a car of a railway vehicle are implemented using four small-sized servomotors, whereas the speed sensors and pole wheels used in the brake HILS system are the actual ones of the railway vehicle. According to the simulated speeds of four wheelsets in the dynamic equations of motion, four servomotors generate wheel speeds in real time, and then the measured wheelset speeds are fed back to the computer simulation model. Moreover, in this paper, we improve the performance of wheelset speed measurement via the T method instead of the M method presently used in the field. The performances of wheelset speed implementation and speed-sensor operation are demonstrated by experimental works using a HILS system.

디스크 브레이크 로터 마찰면 가공 형태에 따른 성능 변화 연구 (An Experimental Study for Machined Patterns of Friction Surface on Disc Brake Rotor in Performance Aspect)

  • Cross-drilling and slotting on the frictional surface of a brake rotor are methods used for improving the performance of the brake system. These shapes have particular advantages, such as the shaving effect of a slotted shape, which maintains a clean pad-to-rotor contact surface, and the venting effect of a drilled shape, which provides passageways for the gas to escape. In order to understand the effect of the machined pattern on the brake performance aspect, an experimental method is adopted along with the dynamometer test. The cross-drilled rotor, slotted rotor, and mixed pattern rotor with cross-drilling and slotting machining are prepared and tested in terms of friction coefficient, temperature, braking torque, and noise.

  • Recently, according to the advances of vehicle manufacturing technology and the fuel-efficient vehicles, the weight of the vehicle body has been reduced and quietness of the vehicle has been increased. So that, as the emotional qualities of cars, such as NVH, are emphasized in recent years. Also required to be established of the effective measure for brake Judder. The Judder was caused by the increase in DTV by the uneven thermo metamorphosis of brake disc and the partial abrasion of disc. In this study, the disc aggression by friction materials was confirmed and the improving methods of friction materials in connection with the abrasive characteristics reviewed of $ZrSiO_4$ each particle size(under $3{\mu}m$, $5{\sim}10{\mu}m$ and over $15{\mu}m$). In addition, the study is institute make use of limit for $ZrSiO_4$ raw-material particle size and vol% in friction materials. At the result, the optimum size of $ZrSiO_4$ particles was confirmed about 5 to $10{\mu}m$.

전기기계식 제동장치의 제동패드 마모보상방법 및 성능평가 (A Brake Pad Wear Compensation Method and Performance Evaluation for ElectroMechanical Brake)

  • 본 논문은 전기기계식제동장치(EMB : Electro Mechanical Brake, 이하 EMB)의 제동패드 마모발생에 따른 소프트웨어 기반의 마모보상방법의 적용 및 성능평가를 다루었다. EMB의 구동을 위해 사용된 모터는 3상 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기(IPMSM : Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, 이하 IPMSM)가 사용되었다. EMB의 압부력(clamping force) 제어를 위해 위치제어기, 속도제어기 및 전류제어기가 적용되었으며, IPMSM의 출력 압부력 예측을 위해 모터의 거리별 압부력 실험을 통하여 힘 추정기(force estimator)를 1차 모델식으로 단순화 하였다. 제동패드에서 마모가 발생함에 따라 IPMSM에서 출력되는 토크전류의 크기가 감소하는 특성을 이용하여 기준 토크전류와의 비교를 통해 힘 추정기를 업데이트하는 방법으로 마모보상이 가능함을 보였다. 제동패드의 마모 후 최대 압부력 도달시간이 0.1초 이내로 증가하였으나, 마모패드 장착시에도 제동압부력은 마모 전 제동패드와 동일한 최대 기준 압부력을 만족하였으며, 최대압부력 도달시간의 경우 0.5초(기준값) 이내임을 실험으로 검증하였다. 소프트웨어 기반의 EMB 제동패드의 마모보상 방법은 철도차량의 출발 전 제동장치 점검시 테스트모드의 진입을 통하여 수행이 가능하다.

  • 제동 패드는 철도차량의 기초제동요소 중 하나이다. 제동 패드는 제동 캘리퍼로부터 압부력을 전달받아 제동디스크와의 마찰력으로 철도차량에 제동작용을 한다. 따라서 제동 패드는 주어진 고압의 압부력을 견뎌야 하므로 제동 패드의 주요 성능평가항목으로 압축강도를 관리한다. 압축강도를 측정하는 규격은 KRS, KRCS, KRT 등이 있다. 이들 규격은 압축강도를 측정하기 위한 시험편의 크기를 $20mm{\times}10mm{\times}15mm$ (가로${\times}$세로${\times}$높이)로 규정하고 있다. 압축강도에 대한 불확도를 줄이기 위하여 불확도 요인을 분석한 결과, 단면의 치수를 변경함으로써 불확도를 줄일 수 있음을 알았다. 새로운 단면치수에 의한 불확도를 평가하여 불확도 감소에 대한 유효성을 입증하였다.

모터 부하시험을 위한 부하인가 장치 개발 (Development of Load apparatus for Motor)

  • We have constructed loading apparatuses to electrical motor with a powder brake and a oil pump for load test of a several ten kilowatt-motor and performed load test with two motors. On operating the loading apparatus with a oil pump, temperature of the oil may excessively increase and fail to operate due to dynamic energy loss of equipment in oil loop. In order to control the oil temperature, factors of the energy loss were analyzed and the quantitative loss was calculated. Load tests of motors with two loading apparatuses constructed were successfully performed and strengths of each apparatus come out on operating.

제동패드의 구조와 마찰재 조성이 제동 스킬소음에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Pad Structure and Friction Material Composition on Brake Squeal Noise)

  • 제동 스킬소음은 승객과 선로 주변의 주민에게 불편을 끼쳐 시급히 해결해야 할 문제의 하나이지만 해결책을 찾는 것은 쉽지 않다. 제동 스킬소음을 저감하기 위한 해결책은 크게 제동 마찰재의 소재를 개량하거나 제동패드의 구조를 개선하는 것으로 구분할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 KTX 차량에 사용되고 있는 제동패드를 기준으로 마찰재의 소재만을 바꾼 패드와, 동일한 마찰재 소재를 사용하지만 구조를 유연형으로 바꾼 제동패드를 제작하여 제동 다이나모미터에서 다양한 조건으로 마찰특성과 소음특성을 평가하고 영업차량이 역에 정차할 때 측정한 스킬소음과 비교 및 분석하였다. 제동 다이나모미터 시험이 실차 시험을 어느 정도 재현하는 것이 가능한다는 것을 발견하였고, 영업열차에서 최고 스킬소음이 발생한 4,500Hz 대역의 스킬소음은 다이나모미터 시험에서도 정확히 일치하고, 이 주파수는 제동디스크의 고유진동수와 일치하는 것을 규명하였다. 제동 스킬소음이 발생하는 주파수는 캘리퍼에 작용하는 압력, 시험온도, 그리고 제동 초속도에 따라 달라지지만 일정한 경향을 보여주지는 않았다. 개발된 제동패드의 평균 마찰계수는 0.35~0.45의 범위에 있고 마찰재 소재만을 바꾼 경우는 21.6dB(A), 구조를 변경한 경우는 17.3dB(A) 만큼 최대 소음을 줄일 수 있었다.

  • Frictional behavior of three automotive friction materials (brake pads) containing different amounts of antimony trisulfide ($Sb_2S_3$) and zirconium silicate ($ZRSiO_4$) were investigated using a front brake system. The friction materials were tested on a brake dynamometer (dyno) with gray cast iron rotors. The dynamometer(dyno) test simulated the dragging of a ehicle maintaining 70 km/h and vehicle stops from 100 km/h using 20 different combinations of initial brake temperature (IBT) and input pressure (IP). The results showed a strong influence of the relative amount of $Sb_2S_3$ and $ZrSiO_4$ in friction materials on friction characteristics. Friction stability was improved with the higher concentration of $Sb_2S_3$ in the friction material. Torque variation during drag cycle was increased with an increase of the $ZrSiO_4$ concentration in the friction material. Average friction coefficient and the wear rate of the friction material increased by using more aggressive friction materials containing more $ZrSiO_4$ and less $Sb_2S_3$. Generation of the disk thickness variation (DTV) increased when friction materials with higher concentration of $ZrSiO_4$ were used Careful examination of DTV change showed that aggressiveness of the friction material played an important role in determining torque variation.
