  • An experiment was conducted to develop the simple methods of ginger storage which decrease the weight reduction and maintain good quality of ginger during the cellar storage. The stored boxes with volume of 0.03㎥ and ventilator diameter of 3, 4, 5cm was hurried under the ground(60, 80, 100cm) in the green house. During the cellar storage at the 100cm depth the average temperature and relative humidity in the stored box were remained in 11.7~16.3$^{\circ}C$ and 73%, respect. The higher storage amount and smaller size of ventilator size increased the CO2 concentration in the stored box, and the concentration in the stored box with 50% storage quantity rate and 3cm ventilator diameter size was more than 10% for about 2 months from early Feburary. The decay rate of ginger during the cellar storage increased with higher amount of storage quantity and smaller size of ventilator. The CO2 concentration was low and remained relatively constant with the deeper location of stored box under the ground, and the decay rate was lower in the deeper stored box. Germination rate increased with the deeper location of stored box, and with the lower storage quantity and larger ventilator size. The germination rate was low in the higher decay rate box. Weight loss, total sugar and moisture contents of ginger were decreased, while crude fiber and ash were increased during the storage.

  • Composite steel-concrete box girders are frequently used in bridge construction for their economic and structural advantages. An integrated metaheuristic based optimization procedure is proposed for discrete size optimization of straight multi-span steel box girders with the objective of minimizing the self-weight of girder. The metaheuristic algorithm of choice is the Cuckoo Search (CS) algorithm. The optimum design of a box girder is characterized by geometry, serviceability and ultimate limit states specified by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Size optimization of a practical design example investigates the efficiency of this optimization approach and leads to around 15% of saving in material.

  • This study examined the muscle fatigue of the erector spinae according to box size during lifting activity. Ten healthy adult man participated in the experiment for lifting the boxes 10 times with 0.2 lift/s frequency. Bilateral surface EMG (Electomyogtamphy) recordings were made regarding M. (Muscle) Longissimus, M. Iliocostal and M, Multifidus activity throughout lifting working. The median frequency in back muscle fatigue was investigated using power spectral analysis of surface EMG. When the box larger than shoulder width was lifted, the muscle fatigue of M, Multifidus was shown larger than one of the other muscles. Accordingly, the result far M. Multifidus can be applied in optimizing design parameter of box. Also, the standard of box width for box makers have to be below about 420 mm, being average shoulder width of adult male.

  • Lipid emulsions with saturated triacylglycerols (TAGs) with 4 to 10 carbons in each acyl chain were prepared to study how the oil component alters the stability of the lipid emul-sions when phosphatidylcholines were used as emulsifiers. The average droplet size of the emul-sions became smaller as the chain length of the TAG increased. For a given oil emulsion with smaller droplets was formed with an emulsifier having higher HLB value. The influence of HLB values on the droplet size was biggest for the tributyrin (C4) emulsion. For the tricaprylin(C8) emulsions, droplet size was identical at given emulsifier concentrations regardless of HLB values. The HLB value and the concentration of the emulsifiers also affect the droplet size of the emul-sions. The emulsions with smaller average droplet size were more stable than with bigger size for 20 days. The oil and water (o/w) interfacial tension in inversely proportional to the initial droplet size of the emulsion.

  • This paper shows a design of a gripper with an adjustable working area to depalletize a delivery cardboard box of various sizes. The gripper should pick the box with only one flat surface to lift the boxes stacked close to each other. The lift force of the gripper is the vacuum suction force. To handle boxes of various sizes, the gripper adjusts the working area. The gripper operates four vacuum generators independently. The simultaneous rotation on different axes of four gripper-arms with suction cups moves the position of suction force. The six operation modes of the gripper are divided into the size of the working area. The operation mode is determined according to the size of the top side of the box. Experiments are conducted by lifting the box of various sizes. The gripper can pick the box of various sizes without vacuum leaks from unused cups. Also, the experiments verify the improvement of stability of the box by adjusting the working area of the gripper. The gripper can lift the box without deformation of the box by adjusting the working area.

  • One major problem in the model testing is the boundary effect and size effect caused by the limit in the size of the container. To overcome this problem, various types of laminar boxes are gradually manufactured and used in the shaking table test, which ideally has zero stiffness to horizontal shear. In this study, a small-scale laminar box is manufactured, which is composed of 6 thin aluminum rectangular hollow plates, and its inside dimensions are 300 mm length by 200 mm width by 350 mm depth. Shaking table tests are performed both with the laminar box and the rigid box under the same conditions, where displacements and accelerations are measured at various points of the box and model ground. As result of analyzing the measured data, during the propagation of input seismic motion from the bottom to the ground surface, the relative displacement of the model ground and the amplification of acceleration is hardly amplified in the rigid box. Because of the effect of stress waves reflecting from the rigid wall, the acceleration is slightly decreased at the edge in the rigid box. The laminar box, manufactured in this study, has a problem in that the soil behavior at the edge of ground surface is affected by the inertia force of the top layer due to its excessive self-weight.

  • White-box cryptography is an implementation technique in order to protect secret keys of cryptographic algorithms in the white-box attack model, which is the setting that an adversary has full access to the implementation of the cryptographic algorithm and full control over their execution. This concept was introduced in 2002 by Chow et al., and since then, there have been many proposals for secure implementations. While there have been many approaches to construct a secure white-box implementation for the ciphers with SPN structures, there was no notable result about the white-box implementation for the block ciphers with Feistel structure after white-box DES implementation was broken. In this paper, we propose a secure white-box implementation for a block cipher SEED with Feistel structure, which can prevent the previous known attacks for white-box implementations. Our proposal is simple and practical: it is performed by only 3,376 table lookups during each execution and the total size of tables is 762.5 KB.

  • White-box cryptography presented by Chow et al. is an obfuscation technique for protecting secret keys in software implementations even if an adversary has full access to the implementation of the encryption algorithm and full control over its execution platforms. Despite its practical importance, progress has not been substantial. In fact, it is repeated that as a proposal for a white-box implementation is reported, an attack of lower complexity is soon announced. This is mainly because most cryptanalytic methods target specific implementations, and there is no general attack tool for white-box cryptography. In this paper, we present an analytic toolbox on white-box implementations of the Chow et al.'s style using lookup tables. According to our toolbox, for a substitution-linear transformation cipher on n bits with S-boxes on m bits, the complexity for recovering the $$O\((3n/max(m_Q,m))2^{3max(m_Q,m)}+2min\{(n/m)L^{m+3}2^{2m},\;(n/m)L^32^{3m}+n{\log}L{\cdot}2^{L/2}\}\)$$, where $m_Q$ is the input size of nonlinear encodings,$m_A$ is the minimized block size of linear encodings, and $L=lcm(m_A,m_Q)$. As a result, a white-box implementation in the Chow et al.'s framework has complexity at most $O\(min\{(2^{2m}/m)n^{m+4},\;n{\log}n{\cdot}2^{n/2}\}\)$ which is much less than $2^n$. To overcome this, we introduce an idea that obfuscates two advanced encryption standard (AES)-128 ciphers at once with input/output encoding on 256 bits. To reduce storage, we use a sparse unsplit input encoding. As a result, our white-box AES implementation has up to 110-bit security against our toolbox, close to that of the original cipher. More generally, we may consider a white-box implementation of the t parallel encryption of AES to increase security.

  • One of the highly reliable object tracking methods is to trace objects by associating objects detected by deep learning. The detected object is represented by a rectangular box. The box has information such as location and size. Since the tracker has motion information of the object in addition to the location and size, knowing additional information about the motion of the detected box can increase the reliability of object tracking. In this paper, we present a new method of reliably estimating the moving direction of the detected object in underground parking lot. First, the frame difference image is binarized for detecting motion energy, change due to the object motion. Then, a cumulative binary image is generated that shows how the motion energy changes over time. Next, the moving direction of the detected box is estimated from the accumulated image. We use a new cost function to accurately estimate the direction of movement of the detected box. The proposed method proves its performance through comparative experiments of the existing methods.
