The checking stresses in the Chinese codes for reinforced concrete (RC) or prestressed concrete (PC) bridges are aimed for the thin-web beam, which cannot reflect the actual behavior of the modern structures. The incompleteness of the checking stresses could give rise to the deficiency in the design and calculation, and unable to reveal the reason of some common cracks in the structure. In this paper, the complete stress checklist for RC or PC girder bridges are listed, as well as the corresponding crack shapes. The expression of the complete checking stresses is proposed in details. Spatial Grid Model can reflect all the concerned stresses in the structure. Through the comparison of the calculation results from the spatial grid model and the solid model, it is seen that the spatial grid model can reflect load effects such as shear lag effect, thin-wall effect and local effect. The stresses obtained from the spatial grid model could help engineers to have a good understanding of the structural behavior. Meanwhile, the stress checklist provides the information for analyzing and solving the deficiency in the structure.

Recently, methods on minimizing environmental effect caused from human-made goods have been studied in various research fields. Such issue has been also spotlighted into the civil engineering field; however, application of environmental performance assessment on civil structures is very complicated, since they handles vast ranges of materials and has comparatively long life span with various construction stages. Thus, this study intended to apply environmental performance assessment into an ordinary type of steel box girder bridge, using most popular Life cycle assessment (LCA) procedures, which are called Survey-based method and Indirect method. For better comparison of two methods, greenhouse effect of the example bridge is considered. As result of analysis, total $CO_2$ emission is evaluated as 241.27 ton with Survey-based method while it is evaluated as 221.03 ton with Indirect method. It is also revealed that most $CO_2$ is generated from the process of manufacturing and producing construction materials. Such result indicates that the efficient design which secures certain level of structural safety with minimized input materials. It is considered that the specific LCA on civil structure performed in this study could be utilized to other civil structures for reasonable environmental performance assessment.
Electric arc furnace slag is made in ironworks during steel refining, it is been increasing chemical and physical resistibility using ageing method of unstable state of melting steel slag for using concrete's fine aggregates. Which is been changing stable molecular structure of aggregates, it restrains moving of ion and molecule. In Korea, KS F 4571 has been prepared for using the electric arc furnace slag to concrete aggregates. In this study, Electric arc furnace slag is used in the PMC(Polymer Modified Concrete) which is applied a bridge pavement of rehabilitation, largely. In that case, this study evaluates the structural safety about increasing the specific weight. The 4-type bridges(RC slab bridge, RC rigid-frame bridge, PSC Beam bridge, Steel box girder bridge) pavement's increasing the total dead load is in 1 ~ 2%. Design moments in a load combination are increased less then 2%. safety factor is decreased less than 3%. Therefore, the structural safety has no problem for applying the electric arc furnace slag within PMC in bridge.

Longitudinal cracks due to traffic truck loadings that are caused by local deformations of steel orthotropic bridge decks are sometimes observed in the wearing surface. So, underlying causes of the longitudinal pavement crack induced by structural behaviors of steel decks are investigated in this study. For this purpose, The rational finite element model of the steel deck and the pavement having the box girder is developed and a parametric study is performed by varying thickness or elastic modulus ratios of both the steel deck plate and the pavement. As a result, a large tensile strain above the webs of the u-rib and the box girder, which becomes the main cause of the cracks of the pavement, is detected from variation of the normal strain component of the wearing surface in the transverse direction.

This paper was calculated the earthquake load using ELFP(Equivalent Lateral Force Procedure) and RSA(Response Spectrum Analysis) for PSC Box Girder representative bridges by the Phase of KTX designed by ELFP and verified the difference of these analyses. It have been modeled 3 dimensional FE model of 5 bridges using a commercial FEM program for the comparison of these analyses using a commercial FEM program and were compared the earthquake load. It has been to confirm the increase of the difference ELFP of RSA calculated to seismic ground acceleration according to the ground condition and natural period. It is mean that the necessity of seismic reinforcement due to the application of a larger of earthquake load than designed earthquake load form the seismic performance evaluation result according to the difference of calculated earthquake loads.
The aim of this paper is to determine the effect of soil-structure interaction and time dependent material properties on behavior of concrete box-girder highway bridges. Two different finite element analyses, one stage and construction stage, have been carried out on Komurhan Bridge between Elazi$\breve{g}$ and Malatya province of Turkey, over Fırat River. The one stage analysis assume that structure was built in a second and material properties of structure not change under different loads and site conditions during time. However, construction stage analysis considers that construction time and time dependent material properties. The main and side spans of bridge are 135 m and 76 m, respectively. The bridge had been constructed in 3 years between 1983 and 1986 by balanced cantilever construction method. The parameters of soil-structure interaction (SSI), time dependent material properties and construction method are taken into consideration in the construction stage analysis while SSI is single parameter taking into consideration in the one stage analysis. The 3D finite element model of bridge is created the commercial program of SAP2000. Time dependent material properties are elasticity modulus, creep and shrinkage for concrete and relaxation for steel. Soft, medium, and firm soils are selected for evaluating SSI in both analyses. The results of two different finite element analyses are compared with each other. It is seen that both construction stage and SSI have a remarkable effect on the structural behavior of the bridge.
In order to make the dynamic analysis and design of improved composite beam with corrugated steel web (CBGSCC) bridge more efficient and economical, the parametric self-cyclic analysis model (SCAM) was written in Python on Anaconda platform. The SCAM can call ABAQUS finite element software to realize automatic modeling and dynamic analysis. For the CBGSCC bridge, parameters were set according to the general value range of CBGSCC bridge parameters in actual engineering, the SCAM was used to calculate the large sample model generated by parameter coupling, the optimal value range of each parameter was determined, and the sensitivity of the parameters was analyzed. The number of diaphragms effects weakly on the dynamic characteristics. The deck thickness has the greatest influence on frequency, which decreases as the deck thickness increases, and the deck thickness should be 20-25 cm. The vibration frequency increases with the increase of the bottom plate thickness, the web thickness, and the web height, the bottom plate thickness should be 17-23mm, the web thickness should be 13-17 mm, and the web height should be 1.65-1.7 5 m. Web inclination and Skew Angle should not exceed 30°, and the number of diaphragms should be 3-5 pieces. This method can be used as a new method for structural dynamic analysis, and the importance degree and optimal value range of each parameter of CBGSCC bridge can be used as a reference in the design process.
The behavior of steel curved bridges is more complicated than straight bridges, thus the analysis, design and construction process of curved bridges require much more attention. In design of curved bridges, the grillage analysis using general structural analysis program or special program is mainly used. Comparative study in coherence between these analytical results and actual behavior of curved bridges has been rarely conducted. To study the behaviour of curved bridges and verify the current design method, field measurements and analyses using general structural analysis program and 3-D refined analysis program were carried out for simple and continuous bridges in this study. The study focused on the behavior of curved steel bridges during construction. Measured and analytical results had quantitative difference mutually, but there were qualitatively similar. Stress variations in transverse direction of flange were observed and grillage analysis models yielded more conservative values than 3-D refined analysis models.

Recently, a new PSC (Prestressed Concrete) bridge system, which is supported by Concrete-filled fiber-reinforced polymer (CFFRP) strut, has been introduced. This bridge is able to reduce self-weight and increase the width of traditional PSC bridges. However, no relevant research has been reported on local behavior of CFFRP strut in the bridge system. The purpose of this study is to investigate local behavior of CFFRP struts using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. Field tests were performed to examine the hoop strains and longitudinal strains of the FRP strut under various lateral positions and velocities of a test truck. It has been observed that CFFRP strut is under compression regardless of vehicle speed and location. However, the CFFRP strut is sensitive to the lateral position of vehicles in terms of strain magnitude. Results also indicated that the FBG sensors can faithfully record the hoop and longitudinal strains of the FRP strut without electro-magnetic interference.
In the design of high speed railway bridges is important a impact factor as a tool of assessing the dynamic capacitys of bridges. However, the impact factor(or dynamic amplification factor, DAF) of high speed railway bridges may essentially be changeable because the dynamic response is affected by the long train length(380 m), number of axles and high speed velocity(300 km/h)(Korea Train eXpress: KTX). Therefore, on this study will be examined the dynamic capacity and stability of the typical PSC Box Girder of high speed railway bridge. At first, the static/dynamic analysis is performed considering the axle load line of KTX based upon existing references. Additionally, the KTX moving load is transformed into the dynamic time series load for conducting various parameter studies like axle length, analytical time increment, velocity of KTX. The time history analysis is repeatedly performed to get maximum dynamic responce by varying axle load length, analytical time increment, velocity of KTX. The study shows that dynamic analysis has resonable results with optimal axle load length(0.6 m) and time increment(0.01 sec.) and maximum DAF and dynamic resonance happens at 270 km/h velocity of KTX.
