  • In pattern recognition field, data classification is an essential process for extracting meaningful information from data. Adaptive boosting algorithm, known as AdaBoost algorithm, is a kind of improved boosting algorithm for applying to real data analysis. It consists of weak classifiers, such as random guessing or random forest, which performance is slightly more than 50% and weights for combining the classifiers. And a strong classifier is created with the weak classifiers and the weights. In this paper, a research is performed using AdaBoost algorithm for detecting chaff echo which has similar characteristics to precipitation echo and interrupts weather forecasting. The entire process for implementing chaff echo classifier starts spatial and temporal clustering based on similarity with weather radar data. With them, learning data set is prepared that separated chaff echo and non-chaff echo, and the AdaBoost classifier is generated as a result. For verifying the classifier, actual chaff echo appearance case is applied, and it is confirmed that the classifier can distinguish chaff echo efficiently.

  • Multi-level converter that is high-capacity electric power conversion system is used widely to electric motor drive system and FATCs(Flexible AC Transmission Systems). H-Bridge converter has been prevalently applied to shunt-type system because it can be easily expanded to the multi-level. In steady states, converter is normally operated in the range of 0.7∼0.8 of modulation Index. Even though zero vectors are not imposed to high modulation index, DC-Link voltage Is constant. It means that converter has another boost vector except for zero vectors among several vectors in 3-level converter. This paper has examined the principle of boost vector and investigated the difference between another boost vector and zero vectors in 3-level converter. In addition, this paper has analysed and compared the charging currents and the capacitor voltages of two topologies. The currents and voltages are related to reference voltage. Therefore, it proposed the calculation method for the voltage ripple and the charging current of each capacitor and compared various DC-Link voltage control methods through the simulation.

  • This paper presents the improved AC/DC PFC(Power-Factor-Correction) ZVT(Zero-Voltage-Transition) Boost Converter. The conventional AC/DC PFC ZVT Boost Converter minimizes the switching loss of the main switch within all of the load range. That is because AC/DC PFC ZVT Boost converter makes the main switch and the auxiliary switch turn on simultaneously so that it makes ZVS (Zero-Voltage-Switching) possible at the light load. However, it has two problems that ale large loss of the auxiliary switch and the increasing of the reverse current of the main switch. Therefore this research presents high efficiency to reduce the current stress of the auxiliary switch and the reverse current of main switch by adding a diode to the conventional ZVT converter. The prototype of 640[W], 100[kHz] system using MOSFET is implemented for this experimental verification.

  • In general, when train drives boost and traction mode, force of delivering to the track was difference between boost and traction driving mode. But, in korea, we've never performed that measure the track wheel load and lateral force while boost and traction driving. This study measured wheel load and lateral force using combination of 7200type locomotive and six freight car. And the train used single and automatic brake. The train drives boost and traction mode. In order to the difference radius of curve, we had measured at 3 point in the curve of turnout.

  • In this paper, an improved non-isolated 3-level high step-up boost converter is proposed. By using the well known duality principle, the proposed converter is derived from two-phase buck converter. Compared with the traditional boost converter and 3-level boost converter, the proposed converter can obtain very high voltage conversion ratio and the voltage stress of switching devices and diodes is only 1/4 of the output voltage. A 1 kW prototype converter is built and tested to verify performances of the proposed converter.

  • Switching power supply systems are widely used in many industrial fields. Power factor correction (PFC) circuits have a tendency to be applied in new power supply designs. The PFC circuit with a boost converter using an input power source is studied in this paper. In a boost PFC circuit, there are two feedback control loops: a current feedback loop and a voltage feedback loop. In this paper, the regulation performance gained by using the output voltage and compensator to improve the transient response presented at the continuous conduction mode (CCM) of the boost PFC circuit is analyzed. The validity of the designed boost PFC circuit is confirmed by both MATLAB simulation and experimental results.

  • With the wide-spread use of rectifier in electronic equipments, such problems as electronic components failures or equipment disorders have been occurred due to current harmonics. To overcome these problems, power factor correction circuits employing boost converter have been used. The switching stress of boost converter can be reduced by snubber circuit. Recently, research activities in snubber circuits have been directed to energy recovery snubber for improving the efficiency of power converter. In this study, a new passive snubber circuit which can recover trapped snubber energy without added control is proposed for boost converter The control of boost converter with proposed snubber is the same as the conventional one. In addition, the energy recovery circuit can be implemented with a few passive components. The circuit operation is confirmed through simulation.
