Chemical analysis and metallographic observations of the iron slag were carried out in an attempt to estimate the old iron-making process. The slag containing $9.3\%\;TiO_2$ without Cu indicates that the ore used for smelting was sand iron, not rock ore. The phases identified in the slag were $ulv\ddot{o}spinel$, magnetite, $w\ddot{u}stite$, fayalite etc. This also supports the fact that the smelted ore was iron sand. The total amount of Fe and slag-making components$(=SiO_2+Al_2O_3+MgO+CaO)$ were $40.7\%\;and\;36.1\%$, respectively. These values were average ones found in the old slags formed in the ancient iron-making process. Assuming that $TiO_2$ in the ore combines with FeO, resulting in the formation of $ulv\ddot{o}spinel$, the estimated temperature of smelting was found to be about $1200^{\circ}C$.
The main purpose of this paper Is to analyze the characteristics of the Korean language used as a major communication means within the Korean community in Chenguoz District of Harbin, Heirungjiang Province, China, in terms of its phonology, morphology and syntax. The study focuses on how a variety of languages and dialects including Chinese, the Standard Chinese Korean adopted as a means of teaching in Korean schools, and Kyongsang Dialect of Korean have influenced the language of the community. It also deals as background information with the history of the community, the attitude of the community members toward Korean and Chinese, and their proficiencies of Korean and Chinese, to obtain the general picture of the bilingualism of this community. This specific region was studied since this region and most of the Korean communities in the Heirungjiang province were formed by descendents of the immigrants from the southern provinces of the Korean Peninsula, which allows the comparison between the language used today and the language their ancestors used before moving to this area. Due to the industrialization and innovation brought about by the opening of the Chinese society, the fast outward flow of youths to urban areas, and greater assimilation threats from the embedding Chinese culture, we are not too sure if the Korean language will continue to be used in the future. Given these circumstances, we consider this research most opportune in that it provides a look into the Korean community that developed its distinctive culture and language within an isolated cultural environment.

The purpose of this study was to develop the systems thinking learning program and to confirm the effects of its application in the fourth grades' science class. For it, the test tools were designed to survey divergent thinking and the closed loop based on the casual relation. The systems thinking learning program was developed to make students learn scientific knowledge and systems thinking educational strategies through their regular science class. The two classes of fourth grade were selected and divided into experimental and control groups. After applying pre-test to two groups, the system thinking education program was applied to an experimental group according to the reconstructed lesson plan. Subsequently, post-test was applied to two groups 3 weeks after pre-test. The findings in this study were as follows. In divergent thinking, the systems thinking program was useful to two groups. It could be the repetition effect, but only the experimental group shows a statistically significant change. The effect of the closed loop based on casual relation was deemed statistically significant. It shows these educational strategies were effective in making students understand the systems thinking. Finally, the results of students' interviews shows they were satisfied with this program because they were able to express their thinking with confidence and to find new relations in the change of land. The results suggest that the more research is needed to further develop and improve on students' thinking skills in their regular science classes.
Purpose of this study is to classify the main industrial function by region using the factor analysis. Identified regions, Yesan-Kun area consisted of 12 Myon(towns) selected as a case study, would be conducive to establishing rural town planning reflecting their industrial characteristics. Major findings are summarized as follows. First, population of Yesan-Kun has been decreased at about 1.0% annually for the period 1970~1990, which may not meet the basic condition of sustainable regional growth. Second, economy of Yesan area, which mainly has been dependent upon the agriculture, are lagged behind because of lack of specialized manufacturing sector. Third, particularly West and East part of the region has been underdeveloped in spite of their potentiality mainly due to insufficient network of road. Based on fator analysis which classify the zones by the characteristics of industry, following developmental directions are suggested. - Yesan-Eup with a factor score of 2.85 in secondary and tertiary industry, which means functioning as a rural center should be developed to provide the residential people with basic service. - Ducksan-Myon with 2.93 factor score in tour industry is recommended to formulate leisure complex by utilizing its abundant tour resources. - Sapkyo-Eup, Goduck-Myon, Sinam-Myon, Oga-Myon Areas functioning as agricultural industry, are suggested to foster as zones specialized for the cultivation of crops and fruits. - Kwangsi-Myon and Bongsan-Myon neighboring other counties is likely to be affected by other regions' economy. These regions should be developed in association with other regions' economic circumstances. - Daeheung-Myon, Daesool-Myon and Sinyang-Myon areas, which are located southern part of Yesan County, is examined to be relatively underdeveloped area. So there are needs to make a special planning for the balanced growth of these regions.
This study analyzes the material characteristics of stone tools of the Paleolithic period excavated from the Osong site, located at the project site for the creation of the Osong 2nd Life Science Complex, and estimates the provenance of the stone materials. Because the stones had been buried for a long time, their surfaces had become heavily weathered yellow or yellowish-brown, and the magnetic susceptibility values varied from 0 to 15(${\times}10^{-3}SI$). The excavated stone tools were rocks with various magnetic susceptibility values that could not be specified. Five stone tools subjected to destructive analysis were divided into two groups, one with a value of 1-3(${\times}10^{-3}SI$) and the other with a value of 5-9(${\times}10^{-3}SI$), both based on visible characteristics. The results of the thin-section analysis showed that most of the stone tools were basaltic rocks comprising plagioclase, quartz, and pyroxene, and some had iron content as high as 20 wt.%. These findings and the present geological map suggest that the stone tools were not made from the surrounding rocks because there are no areas containing basaltic rocks surrounding Bongsan-ri in Osong-eup. Andesite and tuff are distributed along with basaltic rocks in the Doan-myeon area in Jeongpyeong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Province, but the distance from the excavation site is too far. To determine whether this region is actually related to the provenance of the raw rock, it is necessary to conduct additional field surveys and comprehensive and precise analyses.

HwaSeong (Suwon Fortress) was built during the reign of King Jeong-jo in the Choseon Dynasty. Detailed information on the construction of HwaSeong can be found in Hwaseong Seongyeok Euigui. In this sense, it is necessary to perform a comparative analysis on the Hwaseong Seongyeok Euigui based on construction management factors. This paper aims to analyze the HwaSeong construction project from a modern construction perspective by comparing and reviewing information related to the procurement of construction materials of the time. For this, wooden and steel materials and tiles were analyzed by supply area, supply channel, type and price. From the results of the analysis, it is found that the government used both private and official channels to supply materials. In particular, except for wooden materials that could be supplied from Bongsan, the supply of materials showed a high dependency on private channels. In terms of steel, it was almost 30 percent cheaper through private channels than when purchased through the official channel. Finally, materials vulnerable to damage like tiles were manufactured from the areas near the construction site. From this fact it can be interpreted that the government had a flexible procurement system, including manufacturing on the spot and external suppliers, depending on the property of the material. It is expected these analytical results will serve as key data to understand the management factors in constructing HwaSeong.

The purpose of this paper is to search for geomorphological landscape resources of Goryeong-gun, to provide fundamental data for their management through mapping their distribution, and to present their conservation and application plan. The results are as follow: Firstly, geomorphological landscape resources in mountain area are Misungsan and Jusan mountain of Goryeong-up, Sangbiri valley of Deoggok-myeon, and isolated hill of Gaejin-myeon. Secondly, geomorphological landscape resources in riparian area are natural wetlands such as Jinchonneup of Bu-ri Gaejin-myeon, Hochonneup and Dalseongseupji of Hochon-ri Dasan-myeon, Bongsanneup of Bongsan-ri Ugok- myeon; artificial wetlands following the construction of weir such as riparian wetland of Oe-ri Goryeong-up and Banun-ri Gaejin-myeon; meander core and abandoned channel of Banun-ri Gaejin -myeon, river cliffs such as Naegok-ri Goryeong-up and Weolo-ri Ugok-myeon; sand bars and braided channel of Yajeong-ri Ugok-myeon. Thirdly, Jinchonneup swamp area of Bu-ri Gaejin-myeon have characteristics of typical floodplain landform, and its conservation conditions is relatively satisfactory, and its accessibility to metropolis is great, so it is a good place to construct eco-park. And construction of inquiry learning place at Banun-ri Gaejin-myeon will increase the opportunity to observe environmental changes following incised meander cutoff and ecological affirmative functions of a weir.
The environment in urban are becoming worse and forest is being recognized the major part of city by the increase of population and facilities. This study was carried out to analyze topographic environment as the basis for reasonable management and utility of forest situated in Taejon city and its vicinities using Sandst-5 TM and digital terrain elevation data(DTED). Forest area was extracted by Landsat-5 TM data. Distribution of elevation, slope and aspect was derived from digital terrain elevation data. The research area to analyze ropographic environment for urban forest were Bomumsan, Bongsan, Kabhasan, Sikchangsan, and Kyechoksan. Forest, the largest area in Taejon covers 55.1% of totaf area. This is more 5 times than urban area. 70.8% of forest area in Taejon city is located in elevation of lower than 200m and 4.8% of that is located in elevation of upper than 400m. Distribution of elevation is 45.7% of total area for 100m to 200m in Kyechoksan and is 92.4% of total area for lower than 300m in Bomumsan. Elevation of upper than 300m is 20.4% of total area in Kabhasan and is 46.6% of total area in Sikchangsan. The slope of more 20 digree is over 50% of total area in every area except for Bonsan and 35.2% of total area in Sikchangsan and Kahasan than in Bomumsan and Kyechoksan.

The purpose of this study was to investigate secondary pre-service science teachers' misconceptions of tide and to develop a learning module that can change misconceptions into scientific concepts and to examine the effect of the learning module for conceptual change. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher developed the test tool of tidal phenomena and the learning module using cognitive conflict strategy. The subjects of this study were 40 first year students who majored science education at a college of education in G metropolitan city. The results of this study are as follows. First, secondary pre-service science teachers had various misconceptions about tidal phenomena. Second, the developed learning module was effective in changing misconceptions about tide of pre-service science teachers into scientific concepts. However, some students had misconceptions about tidal phenomena after learning the developed module. The typical misconception was that they could not distinguish the centrifugal force generated when the earth and the moon revolve about the center of common mass as the center of rotation and the centrifugal force generated by the earth's rotation. And they did not know that they should not consider the earth's rotation while the earth was revolving around the center of common mass.
