  • The bond strength of metal to ceramic sealing in Mo-Mn metallizing was investigated by examining the effects of flux composition in alumina ceramics particle size of molybdenum metal powder wet hydrogen atmosphere and temperature in metallizing. The maximum bond strength was obtained when the glass phase filled almost all the microstructural cavities around the interfacial area with few micropores. Such a favorable microstrcutre waas formed and maximum bond strength was observed between 130$0^{\circ}C$. Also the metal to ceramic bond strength was increased using finer molybdenum metal powder than coarse powder. When content of $SiO_2$ in the flux of alumina ceramics was constant metal to ceramic bond strength was improved with increasing the ratio of CaO to MgO in the flux.

  • The microstructure and bond strength were investigated on the SiC/SiC and SiC/mild steel joints brazed by Ag-5at%Ti alloy. Ag-5at%Ti-2at%Fe and -5at%Fe brazing alloys were also used to see the effects of Fe addition on the bond strength of SiC/SiC brazed joints. Brazing temperature and brazing gap were selected and examined as brazing variables. The microstructure of SiC/SiC brazed joints was affected by Fe addition to the Ag-5at%Ti alloy, but the bond strength was not. Increasing brazing temperature also changed the microstructure of $Ti_5Si_3$ reaction layer and brazing alloy matrix of the SiC/SiC and SiC/mild steel joints, but not the bond strength. Brazing gap had a great effects on the bond strength. Decreasing brazing gap from 0.2 mm to 0.1 mm in SiC/SiC brazing increased the bond strength from 187 MPa to 263 MPa and, in SiC/mild steel brazing, from 189 MPa to 212 MPa. It was concluded that the most important parameter on the bond strength in SiC/SiC and SiC/mild steel brazing was the relative ratio between brazing gap and specimen size.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the durability and bond strength of polymer powder-modified mortars with special accelerator components. The mortars were prepared with various polymer-binder ratios and applied to the concrete substrate as a repair material. Bond strength, flexural and compressive strengths, freeze-thaw resistance and carbonation resistance were measured for the test. As a result, bond strength of the mortars was increased with an increase in the polymer-cement ratio, and freeze-thaw resistance and carbonation resistance were significantly improved with increasing polymer-cement ratio also.

  • PURPOSES : This study aims to develop a sealant for use in the installation of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) sensor for asphalt concrete or cement concrete pavements. METHODS : In order to investigate the properties of various sealants that were mixed with latex and carbon fiber, various test methods were adopted, such as bituminous bond strength test, softening point test, and cone penetration test. To evaluate moisture susceptibility, the BBS test was conducted under moist condition. The bond strength ratio (BSR) was calculated based on tensile strength ratio method. RESULTS : The sealant's properties significantly varied according to the amount of latex or carbon fiber. The usage of latex marginally enhanced the cone penetration test result, notwithstanding reduced asphalt content. This implies that the sealant will be proper cold temperature reason. Moreover, the addition of latex and carbon fiber evidently increased the softening point. This indicates that the tendency of the material to flow at elevated temperatures is encountered during service. With the addition of latex and carbon fiber, the moisture susceptibility measured with BSR improved marginally, while the bond strength under dry condition decreased marginally. Sealant F displays the highest bond strength and BSR under limited test conditions. CONCLUSIONS : According to the proportion of latex and carbon fiber mixed, properties of sealant, such as softening point, cone penetration, and BSR varied marginally. This indicates that the sealant has to be applied considering the environmental condition, to improve service life.

  • In order to quantify the effect of transverse reinforcement on the bond splitting behavior of reinforcement monotonic loading tests of 8 slmply beams were carried out. The reinforcing details and material properties were so determined that the bond splitting failure proceded the shear and flexural failure. A bond splitting strength derived from the experimental data and it accounts for following parameters: 1) Concrete Strength 2) Transverse reinforcement ratio and shape 3) Thickness of concrete cover 4)Deformation of reinforcement

  • The extrudability of 3D printed concrete and its member strength can be highly influenced by water cement ratio (W/C) and printing time gap (PTG). In this study, mold cast specimens and 3D printed specimens were fabricated with variables of W/C ratio and PTG, and their shear bond strength and interlayer surface moisture content were measured and analyzed. The test results showed that the shear bond strength is greatly influenced by the amount of interlayer surface moisture. It is thus recommended that proper amount of interlayer surface moisture with respect to PTG needs to be maintained to have a required interlayer shear bond strength. In addition, further research is required to estimate the effect of many environmental factors that can influence the interlayer surface moisture content.

  • This study presents a simple method to improve the bond performance of reinforced concrete (RC) beams having high-strength shear reinforcement. In general, the yield strength and the ratio of shear reinforcements are the main parameters governing the shear capacity of RC beams. The yield strength of shear reinforcement, however, has little influence on the bond capacity of RC beams. Therefore, a sudden bond failure of the members with high-strength shear reinforcement can occur before flexural failure. To estimate the structural performance of the proposed method, four RC beams were cast and tested. The main test parameters were the yield strength, ratio, and reinforcing types of shear reinforcements. The experimental results indicated that the proposed method was able to effectively improve the bond performance of RC beams with high-strength shear reinforcement.

  • Significant improvements in bond strength between new and existing concrete can be achieved through the modification of the new concrete by latex. This study focuses on the investigation of bond strength of latex modified concrete. Pull-out bond test and uniaxial direct tensile bond test are adopted for evaluating the adhesion characteristics of latex modified concrete to conventional concrete substrate. The main experimental variables are test methods, latex-cement ratio, surface preparations and moisture levels. The results are as follows; The increase of latex-cement ratio substantially improves the adhesion between latex modified concrete and substrate. The effects of surface preparation at substrate into the bonding of latex modified concrete are quite different according to the conditions of surfaces. Thus, an adequate surface preparations are essential for good bond strength. Because the moisture level of the substrate may be critical to achieving bond, optimum moisture condition for a conventional concrete has evaluated in this study. The saturated condition of surface is the most appropriate moisture level among the considered, followed by dry condition and wet condition.

  • Polymer cement slurry (PCS) is made from organic polymer dispersion and cement has good adhesion to steel, waterproofness and acid resistance due to being of polymer films formed in cement slurry. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the bond strength of coated rebar by polymer cement slurry made of EVA and ultra high-early strength cement. The test pieces are prepared with EVA polymer dispersion and ultra high-early strength cement having four types of polymer-cement ratios, four types of coating thicknesses and four curing ages, and tested for the bond strength test. From the test results, in general, bond strength of PCS-coated rebar is better than that of uncoated rebar and epoxy-coated rebar. It is also high bond strength at curing ages of 7-day, and coating thicknesses of $75{\mu}m$ and $100{\mu}m$. The maximum bond strength of PCS-coated rebar with ultra high-early strength cement and EVA at polymer-cement ratio of 80%, and coating thickness of $100{\mu}m$ is about 1.32 and 1.38 times respectively, the strength of uncoated rebar and epoxy-coated rebar. It is apparent that the curing age, coating thickness, type of polymer and cement are very important factors to improve the bond strength of PCS-coated rebar to cement concrete. We can have basic information that PCS-coated rebar with polymer-cement ratio of 80% or 100% and coating thickness of $100{\mu}m$ at curing age of 1-day can replace epoxy-coated rebar.
