A Study on the Lightweight Design of Hybrid Modular Carbody Structures Made of Sandwich Composites and Aluminum Extrusions Using Optimum Analysis Method (최적화 해석기법을 이용한 샌드위치 복합재와 알루미늄 압출재 하이브리드 모듈화 차체구조물의 경량 설계 연구)

  • In this study, the lightweight modular design of hybrid railway carbody structures made of sandwich composites and aluminum extrusions was investigated by using topology and size optimization techniques. The topology optimum design was used to select the best material for parts of the carbody structure at the initial design stage, and then, the size optimum design was used to find the optimal design parameters of hybrid carbody structures using first-order and sub-problem methods. Through the topology optimization analysis, it was found that aluminum extrusions were suitable for primary members such as the underframe and lower side panel module to improve the stiffness and manufacturability of the carbody structures, and sandwich composites were appropriate for secondary members such as the roof and middle side panel module to minimize its weight. Furthermore, the results obtained by size optimization analysis showed that the weight of hybrid carbody structures composed of aluminum extrusions and sandwich composites could be reduced by a maximum of approximately 17.7% in comparison with carbody structures made of only sandwich composites.

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest a weight-reduction design method for the hybrid carbody of a high-speed maglev train that uses aluminum extrusion profiles and sandwich composites. A sandwich composite was used on the roof as a secondary member to minimize the weight. In order to assemble the sandwich composite roof and aluminum extrusion side frame of the carbody using welding, a guide aluminum frame located at the four sides of the sandwich composite roof was introduced in this study. The clamping force of this guide aluminum frame was verified by three-point bending test. The structural integrity and crashworthiness of the hybrid carbody of a high-speed maglev train were evaluated and verified according to the Korean Railway Safety Law using a commercial finite element analysis program. The results showed that the hybrid carbody composed of aluminum extrusion frames and a sandwich composite roof was lighter in weight than a carbody made only of aluminum extrusion profiles and had better structural performance.

Effect of the Insert Shape on the Improvement of Durability of Bolted Joints Applied to Composite Bogie Frames (복합재 대차프레임의 볼트 체결부 내구성 향상을 위한 인서트 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes the study on a method for improving the structural durability of bolted joints applied to a composite bogie frame. In this study, three bolted joints with and without inserts and screw threads were selected for determining the effect of the inserts, using experiment and analysis. The structural performances of the proposed bolted joints were compared and evaluated using the test method prescribed by the ASTM D5961 standard. The results revealed that the bolted joint having an insert shape without the screw thread offered improved durability for application to a composite bogie frame. Furthermore, the structural integrity of the frame comprising the bolted joints was evaluated using finite element analysis according to the JIS E 4207 standard. The Tasi-Wu and Von-Mises failure criteria were used for determining the failure of the composite structure and bolted joints, respectively. A sub-modeling technique was introduced for investigating the performance of the bolted joints in greater detail. The analysis results demonstrated that the Tasi-Wu failure index of the composite structure near the bolted joints was reduced by approximately one-half after applying an insert without the screw thread. This implies that the structural durability of the bolted joints of a composite bogie frame could be improved by using a metal insert without the screw thread.

  • Hypothermia during lung preservation decreases metabolic processes. After the rabbit lung was flushed with modified Euro-Collins solution, heart-lung block was harvested and the left lung was assessed after ligation of the right pulmonary artery and right main-stem bronchus. Heart-lung block was immersed in the same solution for 6 hours. The modified Euro-Collins solution and storage temperature of group 1(10 cases) was 4t, roup 2(10 cases) was l0℃. On completion of the storage period, the left lung was ventilated and reperfused with blood u:high used a cross-circulating paracorporeal rabbit as a "biologic deoxygenator" for 60 minutes. Pulmonary artery pressure, airway pressure, difference in oxygen tension between mow and outflow perfusate and degree of pulmonary edema were assessed at 10-minute intervals while the left lung was ventilated at 0.8 of the inspired oxygen fraction. The mean pulmonary venous oxygen tensions at 10 and 60 minutes after reperfusion were 209.52±42.46 and 103.48± 15.96 mmHg in group I versus 247.78±36.19 and 147.91 ± 11.07 mmHg in group II(p=0.049, (0.0001). The mean alveolar-arterial oxygen differences at 20 and 60 minutes after reperfusion were 357. 95± 12.84 and 437.31 14.26 mmHg in group I versus 310.88±3).47 and )90.93± 15.86 mmHg in group II (p=0.0092, (0.0001). The mean pulmonary arterial pressures at 10 and 60 minutes after reperfusion were 40.56± 18.66 and 87. 2± 17.22 mmHg in group I versus 31.22±6.84 and 65.78± 11.02 mmHg in group rl (p : 0.048, 0.0062). The mean pulmonary vascular resistances at 10 and 60 minutes after reperfusion were 2.69±0.85 and 4.36±0.86 mmHg/ml/min in group I versus 1.99±0.39 and 3.29±0.55 mmHg/ml/min in group II(p : 0.0323, 0.0062). There were no difference between groups in peak airway pressure, lung compliance and degree of pulmonary edema. In conclusion that preservation of lung at l0℃ was superior to preservation at 4℃.

Control of the CaCO3 Saturation Index Parameters for Protecting the Corrosion of Waterworks Pipe (상수도관 부식방지를 위한 탄산칼슘 포화지수(LI) 인자 제어에 관한 연구)

  • Calcium Carbonate Saturation Index (LI: Langelier Index), an indicator of $CaCO_3(s)$ saturation, indicates corrosiveness of drinking water and it has been used to monitor drinking water conditions in USA, E.U, and Japan. The objective of this research was to measure LI parameters including water temperature, pH, total alkalinity, calcium ion concentration, and electric conductivity, and to evaluate possibility of using LI in domestic system. Results showed that water temperature varied from 2.0 to $26^{\circ}C$ during 15 months, indicating an average annual temperature of $23.9^{\circ}C$. Total alkalinity was from 20 to 45 mg/L. The concentration difference between total alkalinity and $HCO_3{^-}$ value was hardly observed; the concentration of total alkalinity can be replaced by that of $HCO_3{^-}$. Tap water had a medium corrosiveness since LI values were from 2.0 to 0.5. To reduce the corrosiveness and to increase LI values of drinking water, the results of this study showed that chemicals such as $Ca(OH)_2$, $CaCO_3$, NaOH, or $NaHCO_3$ should be added to water treatment plants.

Bioequivalence of Kuhnil Propiverine Hydrochloride Tablet to BUP-4 Tablet (Propiverine Hydrochloride 20 mg) (비유피-4 정(염산프로피베린 20 mg)에 대한 건일염산프로피베린 정의 생물학적동등성)

  • The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two propiverine hydrochloride tablets, BUP-4 (Jeil Pharm. Co., Ltd.) and Kuhnil Propiverine Hydrochloride (Kuhnil Pharm. Co., Ltd.), according to the guidelines of the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). The propiverine release from the two propiverine hydrochloride formulations in vitro was tested using KP VIII Apparatus II method with a variety of dissolution media (pH 1.2, 4.0, 6.8 buffer solutions, water and blend of polysorbate 80 into pH 6.8). Twenty six healthy male subjects, $23.73{\pm}2.79$ years in age and $67.04{\pm}7.93\;kg$ in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized $2\;{\times}\;2$ cross-over study was employed. After one tablet containing 20 mg as propiverine hydrochloride was orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentrations of propiverine in serum were determined using HPLC method with UV detector. The dissolution profiles of two formulations were similar at all dissolution media. Besides, the pharmacokinetic parameters such as $AUC_t,\;C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using logarithmically transformed $AUC_t,\;C_{max}$ and untransformed $T_{max}$. The results showed that the differences between two formulations based on the BUP-4 were 0.17%, 7.98% and 4.55% for $AUC_t,\;C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$. respectively. There were no sequence effects between two formulations in these parameters. The 90% confidence intervals using logarithmically transformed data were within the acceptance range of log(0.8) to log(1.25) $(e.g.,\;log(0.88){\sim}log(1.l2)\;and\;log(0.90){\sim}log(1.l5)\;for\;AUC_t\;and\;C_{max},\;respectively)$. Thus, the criteria of the KFDA bioequivalence guideline were satisfied, indicating Kuhnil Propiverine Hydrochloride tablet was bioequivalent to BUP-4 tablet.

A Space Partitioning Based Indexing Scheme Considering, the Mobility of Moving Objects (이동 객체의 이동성을 고려한 공간 분할 색인 기법)

  • Recently, researches on a future position prediction of moving objects have been progressed as the importance of the future position retrieval increases. New index structures are required to efficiently retrieve the consecutive positions of moving objects. Existing index structures significantly degrade the search performance of the moving objects because the search operation makes the unnecessary extension of the node in the index structure. To solve this problem, we propose a space partition based index structure considering the mobility of moving objects. To deal with the overflow of a node, our index structure first merges it and the sibling node. If it is impossible to merge them, our method splits the overflow node in which moving properties of objects are considered. Our index structure is always partitioned into overlap free subregions when a node is split. Our split strategy chooses the split position by considering the parameters such as velocities, the escape time of the objects, and the update time of a node. In the internal node, the split position Is determined from preventing the cascading split of the child node. We perform various experiments to show that our index structure outperforms the existing index structures in terms of retrieval performance. Our experimental results show that our proposed index structure achieves about $17%{\sim}264%$ performance gains on current position retrieval and about $107%{\sim}19l%$ on future position retrieval over the existing methods.

Studies on the Utilization of Wastes from Fish Processing II -Changes of Chemical Properties of Skipjack Tuna Viscera Silage during Storage by the Processing Method (수산물 가공부산물의 이용에 관한 연구 II-가공방법에 따른 가다랭이 내장 silage의 저장 중 성분변화)

  • For an effective use of fish by-products from the skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) canning manufactures, the changes of chemical properties of skipjark tuna viscera silage by the processing method during storage were investigated. The acid treated skipjack tuna viscera silage (ASS) were higher in the contents of moisture, lipid, protein and mineral but lower in the contents of carbohydrate and polyunsaturated fatty acids than those of fermented skipjack tuna viscera silage (FSS) by L. bulgaricus, KCTC 3188 and L. plantarum, KCTC 1048. Especially, the contents of total n-3 fatty acids in FSS increased remarkably during storage. The dominant amino acids in ASS and FSS were glutamic acid (Glu), aspartic acid (Asp), leucine (Leu), glycine (Gly) and alanine (Ala). And the contents of tryptophan (Trp) decreased by $30\%$ in ASS and $5\%$ in FSS in comparision with that of raw skipjack tuna viscera after 42 days of storage. The concentration of vitamin $B_1\;and\;B_2$ in FSS increased gradually during storage but the concentration of vitamin $B_2$ in ASS decreased. In the organoleptic evaluation, ASS gave a grayish brown color and a fishy odor. On the other hand, FSS had reddish brown color and sour taste by the production of lactic arid during storage.

Studies on Protoplast Formation and Regeneration of Lyophyllum decastes (Lyophyllum decastes의 원형질체 분리와 재생에 관한 연구)

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate proper conditions for protoplast isolation and regeneration from mycelia of Lyophyllum decastes. Novozym 234(10 mg/ml) with 0.6 M $MgSO_4$ in phosphate buffer(pH 4.0) was proper for protoplast isolation. The optimal reaction time of the mycelium with the lytic enzyme was four hours in shaking condition at 120 strokes per min. When the mycelium of L. decastes was cultured at $24^{\circ}C$ for 5 days, the formation of protoplasts was effective. The liquid medium was more effective for protoplast isolation than the solid medium. In the liquid medium, high yields of protoplasts were obtained from 0.6 M $MgSO_4$ osmotic stabilizer. Protoplasts of L. decastes were regenerated to normal hyphal growth and the regeneration frequency of the protoplasts in the complete agar medium containing Triton X-100(0.0025%) was $5.94{\sim}8.32%$. The regeneration medium stabilized with 0.6 M sucrose was the best for regeneration of the protoplasts. In contrast to protoplast formation, regeneration was inhibited by the inorganic salts used as osmotic stabilizer.

Quality characteristics of meat seasoning sauce containing fermented Oenothra biennis juice (달맞이꽃 발효액을 이용한 양념육 소스의 품질 특성)

  • The characteristics and quality changes of sauces containing different concentrations (5, 10, and 15%) of fermented Oenothra biennis juice (FOBJ) were studied for its potential as a new meat seasoning suace. pH of the seasoning sauce was ranged from 5.23 to 5.37. Sugar content of seasoning sauces increased decreasing on increase of FOBJ concentration while the color (L, a, b) decreased. DPPH radical scavenging ability and TBARS values of the seasoning sauce was increased significantly by the addition of FOBJ (p<0.05). The total bacteria number of the seasoning sauces was approximately 3 log CFU/g while coliform bacteria were not detected in all tested sauces. The sauce containing 5% FOBJ showed the highest value in taste, color, overall acceptability among all tested sauces. The pH and titratable acidity of the meat seasoning sauces was not changed significantly during 25 days at $10^{\circ}C$. The total bacteria number of the seasoning sauces was steadly 3.62~3.83 log CFU/g for 25 days at $10^{\circ}C$. The number of coliform was not detected during storage periods. These results suggested the possibility of development of new meat seasoning sauce containing FOBI.
