  • Most parts of facilities in domestic petroleum plants and power plants are needed to be abandoned, repaired or replaced, because in Korea they were built in the 1960s and, they have been used under severe conditions and exposed corrosive environments. 2.25Cr- lMo steels have excellent high-temperature mechanical properties. Therefore, the material have been widely used as heat exchanger tubes, boiler headers and its tubes in such industries. But, those microstructural evolutions in high temperature such as precipitation and carbide coarsening give a reason to degrade the material. Especially, in case of this material, carbides induced embrittlement(CIE) is the primary reason for degrading mechanical properties at over 50$0^{\circ}C$. In this paper, we introduce a electrochemical polarization method for detecting CIE quantitatively.

농림부산물 원료 펠릿 및 농업용 펠릿 난방기 (Pellet Made of Agricultural By-product and Agricultural Pellet Boiler System)

  • Biomass is considered to be a major potential fuel and renewable resource for the future. In fact, there is high potential to produce the large amount of energy from biomass around the world. In this study, to obtain basic data for practical application of wood pellet and wood pellet boiler system as heating system in agriculture, agricultural biomass resources were surveyed, pellet was made of agricultural by-product such as stem of rape, oat and rice, ricehusk and sawdust and wood pellet boiler system with capacity of 116 kW was manufactured and installed in greenhouse of $38.5m{\times}32m$. High heating value, bulk density and ash content of pellet made of agricultural by-product and efficiency and heating performance of this system was estimated. Rice straw was the largest agricultural biomass in 2005 and the total amount of rice straw converted into energy of $131.71{\times}10^{11}$ kJ. And in 2005, total amount of forest' by-product converted into energy of $29,277.05{\times}10^{11}$ kJ. High heating values of pellets made of agricultural by-products of stem and seed of rape, stem of oat, rice straw and rice husk were 16,034, 16,026, 16,089, 15,650, 15,044 kJ/kg respectively. High heating values of pellets made of agricultural by-products were 83.6% compared to that of wood pellet. Average bulk density of pellets made of agricultural by-products of stem and seed of rape, stem of oat, rice straw and rice husk was 1,400 $kg/m^3$. Ash contents of the pellets were 6.6, 7.0, 6.2, 5.5, 33% respectively. Ash content of rice husk pellet was the largest compared to other kind of pellets. To increase efficiency of agricultural pellet boiler, the boiler adopted secondary heat exchanger. The agricultural pellet boiler designed and manufactured in this study had high efficiency of 84.2% compared to the conventional agricultural pellet boiler, when water flow rate, exhaust gas temperature and average combustion furnace temperature were 39L/min, $180^{\circ}C$, $680^{\circ}C$ respectively. And pellet supplying and pausing time were 13, 43 seconds respectively. In March of 2010, prices of wood pellet, agricultural tax free diesel, diesel, kerosene were 350 won/kg, 811 won/L, 1,422 won/L, 976 Won/L respectively. Also in terms of energy, prices per same heating value were 77.8, 90.1, 158, 108.4 Won/Mcal. Energy saving rate of wood pellet was 16, 50, 39% compared to agricultural tax free diesel, diesel and kerosene respectively.

  • Experimental results for performance characteristics of small $NH_3$ absorption chiller/ heater are presented. The apparatus consists of 7RT water-cooled absorption system, solution pump, boiler, cooling tower and peripheral devices. The effect of experimental parameters, such as refrigerant mass flow rate, solution mass flow rate and cooling water temperature have been investigated in view of the system performance. The capacity of each heat exchanger increased as refrigerant mass flow rate increased in cooling mode. Also, a cooling capacity increased as a strong solution mass flow rate increased. The cooling and heating COP show 0.5, 1.5 regardless of refrigerant mass flow rate, respectively. The results focus on the evaluation for performance characteristics of system with respect to variation of refrigerant mass flow rate under standard design conditions.

5kW급 고분자전해질 연료전지 시스템 실증연구 (Field study of 5kW class PEMFC system)

  • The residential Fuel Cell system has high efficiency of 85% with transferring natural gas to electrical power and heat, directly and it is a friendly environmental new technology in that $CO_2$ emission can reduce 40% compared with conventional power generator and boiler. The residential fuel cell system consists of two main parts which have electrical and hot storage units. The electrical unit contains a fuel processor, a stack, an inverter, a control unit and balance of plant(BOP), and the cogeneration unit has heat exchanger, hot water tank, and auxiliaries. 5kW class fuel process was developed and tested from 2009, it was evaluated for long-term durability and reliability test including with improvement in optimal operation logic. Stack development was crried out through improvement of design and evaluation protocol. Development of system controller was successfully accomplished through strenuous efforts and original control logic was optimized in 5kW class PEMFC system. In addition, we have been focused on development of system process and assembly technology, which bring about excellent improvement of reliability of system. The 5kW class PEMFC system was operated under dynamic conditions for 1,000 hours and it showed a good performance of total efficiency and durability.

음향방출법을 이용한 발전용 보일러 튜브 미세누설 조기 탐지 시스템 개발 및 성능 검증 (Developing an Early Leakage Detection System for Thermal Power Plant Boiler Tubes by Using Acoustic Emission Technology)

  • 화력발전용 보일러 내부에는 연소열을 고온 고압의 스팀으로 변환하기 위한 열교환 튜브가 복잡한 형태로 배치되어 있다. 이 튜브에서 누설이 발생할 경우 고압의 스팀에 의해 치명적인 고장과 발전 정지를 초래하며, 누설 발생 여부를 조기에 검출하지 못할 경우 인근 튜브의 손상까지 연쇄적으로 발생하여 조기에 튜브 누설을 검출할 수 있는 기술 확립이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 기존 보일러 튜브 누설 감시 설비(BTLD)에 음향방출(AE) 기술을 적용하여 기존 시스템 대비 미세누설을 검출하고 조기에 경보를 발생시킬 수 있는 시스템에 대해 개발을 하였다. 또한 이 시스템을 검증하기 위해 실제 운전 중인 560 MW급 화력발전소 보일러에서 다양한 크기(ⵁ2, ⵁ5, ⵁ10 mm)의 모의 누설시험을 실시하였으며, 그 결과 기존 시스템에서는 검출하지 못하였던 미세누설(ⵁ2 mm, ⵁ5 mm)에 대해 개발된 시스템은 조기에 경보를 발생(18 dB 이상 신호 상승)시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

바이오매스를 에너지원으로 하는 유기냉매 사이클 스크롤 팽창기 발전 장치 설계 (Design of Scroll Expander for Electric Power Generation System using Organic Rankine Cycle with Biomass Energy Source)

  • A scroll expander has been designed to produce a shaft power from a R134a Rankine cycle for electricity generation. Heat was supplied to the Rankine cycle through a heat exchanger, which received heat from another cycle of water. In the water cycle, water was heated up in a boiler using biogenic solid fuel. The designed scroll expander was a horizontal type, and a trochoidal oil pump was employed for oil supply to bearings and Oldham-ring keys. For axial compliance, a back pressure chamber was created on the backside of the orbiting scroll base plate. Numerical study has been carried out to estimate the performance of the designed scroll expander. The expander was estimated to produce the shaft power of about 2.9 kW from a heat supply of 36 kW, when the temperature of R134a was $80^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$ at the evaporator and condenser of the Rankine cycle, respectively. The expander efficiency was about 70.5%. When the amount of heat supply varied in the ranges of 7.5~55 kW, the expander efficiency changed in the range of 45.6~70.5%, showing a peak efficiency of 70.5% at the design shaft speed.

열전소자가 적용된 냉·온수 매트용 전열 모듈의 기초 열설계에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis on the Thermal Design of a Heat Exchanger for a Cold & Hot Water Mattress Equipped with Thermoelectric Modules)

  • In this study, the thermal characteristics of cold and hot water mattress units equipped with thermoelectric modules were investigated via numerical analyses. Cold and hot water mattress products that are currently in existence use manual methods requiring refrigerants to be added to the hot water boiler. However, the cold and hot water mattress units using thermoelectric modules can provide improved efficiency via energy savings and actively resolving environmental pollution problems. To determine the efficiency of the thermoelectric module, the mattress was modeled and its efficiency was analyzed for the cooling and heating processes using two 100-W-class and one 200-W-class thermoelectric modules, respectively. From the results of this study, it was confirmed that when two 100-W-class modules were used, the application area was larger than when a single 200-W-class module was used, with uniform temperature distribution and improved performance compared to existing products in terms of electrical energy.

  • 석유화학공정에서 fouling현상은 열교환기, 보일러, desalter 등 주요 전처리 시설 및 공정에 polymer, heavy paraffine, chemicals, heavy organics, asphaltene, resin, metallics, salts 등 불순물들이 침적 및 부식을 일으켜 각종 조업에 있어서 에너지의 다량소비 및 product yield의 감소 또는 공정의 중단으로 말미암아 생산성의 손실이 대단히 크다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 석유화학 공정에서 foulants의 분리되는 양을 계산하고, 제어할 수 있는 model의 개발을 위하여 fouling 현상에 대한 modeling을 연속열역학과 Peng-Robinson 상태 방정식, 고분자 용액 이론, 다성분계 열역학 이론 등을 이용하여 fouling 현상에 대한 메카니즘규명과 모델링을 하였다.

BTES 방식의 계간축열 시스템을 적용한 유리온실의 난방용 태양열시스템의 경제성 평가 (Economic Evaluation of Glass Greenhouse Heating Solar Thermal System Applied with Seasonal Borehole Thermal Energy Storage System)

  • The heating performance of a solar thermal seasonal storage system applied to a 1,320 m2 glass greenhouse was analyzed numerically, and the economic feasibility depending upon the number of boreholes was evaluated. For this study, the gardening 16th and 19th zucchini greenhouse of Jeollanam-do agricultural research & extension services was selected. And the heating load of the glass greenhouse selected was 1,147 GJ. BTES(Borehole Thermal Energy Storage) was considered as a seasonal storage, which is relatively economical. The number of boreholes was selected from 25 to 150. The TRNSYS was used to predict and analyze the dynamic performance of the solar thermal system. Numerical simulation was performed by modelling the solar thermal seasonal storage system consisting of flat plate solar collector, BTES system, short-term storage tank, boiler, heat exchanger, pump and controller. As a result of the analysis, when the number of boreholes was from 25 to 50, the thermal efficiency of BTES system and the solar fraction was the highest. When the number of boreholes was from 25 to 50, it was analyzed that the payback period was from 5.2 years to 6.2 years. Therefore it was judged to be the number of boreholes of the proposed system was from 25 to 50, which is the most efficient and economical.

  • 알루미나이징강에 대하여 초기마모영역에서 rolling-sliding 마모시험을 한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 2차 확산재의 내마모성이 가장 우수하고 처녀재에 비하여 저응력 레벨에서 약 18%, 고응력에서 약 40%의 마모감소를 나타낸다. 2) 2차 확산재는 피복층과 합금층 경계부근의 공공생성으로 인하여 예상보다 내마모성이 낮다. 3) 알루미나이징강의 rolling-sliding 접촉에 의한 마모파양의 형태는 spalling 이며 spalling crack은 합금속의 경계부근에서 발생한다.
