  • This paper presents a feasibility study related to the design of a linear multivariable compensator for a model of boiler-turbine system. The nonlinear dynamics are linearized at a operating condition. At the operating point an LQG/LTR compensator is designed. Simulations are included to illustrate the usefulness of this linear multivariable control law.

  • How to plan the energy system is one of the keys f3r constructing the Environment -Friendly City. for this reason, a great number of surveys for utilizing unused energy have conducted by a planner. In regard to unused energy, the heat from incineration plants classify as a unused energy having high-exergy-energy. From this point of view, It is studied about the plant systems providing heat to district heating & cooling(D.H.C) and producing electric power. It is divided four system models as system I (10K [kgf/cm$^2$) vapor as outlet of boiler, supply far 10K vapor and return to 60$^{\circ}C$ as supply condition of district heating), system II (30 K vapor as outlet of boiler, supply for 5t vapor and return to 60f as supply condition of district heating), system 111 (30 K vapor as outlet of boiler, supply for 85$^{\circ}C$ hot water and return to 60$^{\circ}C$ as supply condition of district heating), system IV (30 K vapor as outlet of boiler, supply for 47$^{\circ}C$ hot water and return to 40t as supply condition of district heating). The results from the upper condition of four system, System II got a proper on economical benefits and system IV calculated as benefiting on energy saving effects, and suggest indifference curve as the total evaluation method of both economical benefits and energy saving.

  • The comparison for the performance of heating systems, district heating and separate heating and power, is carried out in terms of energy consumption and environment on the basis of real operating data. The efficiency of boiler and the heat loss within the housing are assumed with reasonable manner due to the lack of reliable data regarding those quantities. The assessment for the established criteria of previous studies is performed and the new criteria for the analysis is proposed. It is shown that the district heating system is superior to the separate heating and power system from the point of view of reduction of energy use and environment improvement. The sensitivity study for those quantities with uncertainty such as the boiler efficiency and heat loss within the housing is carried out also and the reasons for the analysis results are discussed in detail.

  • 본 논문에서는 화력발전소 보일러-터빈 제어시스템의 고장검출 시스템을 설계한다. 이를 위하여 보일러-터빈의 비선형 동특성을 측정 가능한 시변 파라메터를 갖는 T-S 퍼지시스템으로 나타내고 관측기 기반의 고장검출 필터를 사용하여 오차발생기를 설계한다. 고장발생 측정기를 식별하기 위하여 고장검출 필터 출구에 근사적인 역시스템을 연결하였다. 제시한 방법의 효용성을 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 입증한다.

A Clustering-Based Fault Detection Method for Steam Boiler Tube in Thermal Power Plant

  • System failures in thermal power plants (TPPs) can lead to serious losses because the equipment is operated under very high pressure and temperature. Therefore, it is indispensable for alarm systems to inform field workers in advance of any abnormal operating conditions in the equipment. In this paper, we propose a clustering-based fault detection method for steam boiler tubes in TPPs. For data clustering, k-means algorithm is employed and the number of clusters are systematically determined by slope statistic. In the clustering-based method, it is assumed that normal data samples are close to the centers of clusters and those of abnormal are far from the centers. After partitioning training samples collected from normal target systems, fault scores (FSs) are assigned to unseen samples according to the distances between the samples and their closest cluster centroids. Alarm signals are generated if the FSs exceed predefined threshold values. The validity of exponentially weighted moving average to reduce false alarms is also investigated. To verify the performance, the proposed method is applied to failure cases due to boiler tube leakage. The experiment results show that the proposed method can detect the abnormal conditions of the target system successfully.

  • In this paper, we deal with the full range control problem of nonlinear boiler systems subject to complex actuator constraints. Firstly, $H\infty$ loop shaping design procedure[10] is used for the controller design. Secondly, modified high-gain feedback[11] for the loop shaping controller is adopted for the anti-windup function and the bumpless transfer technique between controllers is proposed for the full range control of nonlinear systems. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller is demonstrated through the simulation studies.

  • Since the heat exchange system, such as the boiler of power plant, gas turbine, and radiator require a high rate heat efficiency and the efficiency of these systems is depended on the control methods. However, it is important f3r operator to understand control system of these systems. In order to properly apply control equipment to these process control systems, such as boiler, any other heat process, or process control system it is necessary to understand the basic aspects and operation principle of the process that relate control, interrelationships of the process characteristics, and the dynamics that are involved. Generally, PID controllers are used in these systems but it is difficult for engineer to understand the complex dynamics and the tuning method because of the coupling action and disturbance in the system loop. In this paper, we design an effective experimental system fur automatic control education and analyze its characteristics through experimental system and industrial plant control software to study how they can team automatic control system by experiments.

Application of Model Based Predictive Control with Kalman Filter to Natural Circulation Water Tube Boiler

  • This paper deals with the control problem of a natural circulation water tube boiler with constraint conditions. Some linearized models for the water tube boiler are proposed around some operating points, and the model based predictive control law is adopted to control the plant accounting for constraints. In this controller, the Kalman filter is used for the state estimation, and the controller is designed based on the linearized model. The control performance of the designed controller is exemplified via some nonlinear simulations around the operation point, which show it works well.
