비만여성에서 저열량식사와 체중감량제 섭취에 의한 체중 및 체지방 감소 효과 (The Effects of Low Calorie Meal and Weight Control Preparation on the Reduction of Body Weight and Visceral Fat in Obese Females)

  • 저열량 처방을 위한 식사대체제와 식이섬유ㆍ탄수화물 가수분해 억제제ㆍHCA를 주 성분으로 하는 체중감량제의 섭취 효과를 판정하기 위하여 20대∼50대의 BMI 25이상의 여성 자원자를 모집하여 9주간 시험을 실시하였다. 시험기간 동안 1일 1끼 식사는 식사대체제로 대치하고 1일 2회 체중감량제를 섭취하게 한 후 신체계측과 체조성, 배변 상황, 식이섭취 실태, 자각 증상 등의 변화를 조사하여 효과를 판정하였다. 시험 결과는 9주 동안 지속적으로 체중과 체지방, BMI, 허리 및 엉덩이 둘레가 감소한 것으로 나타났으며 체중감소율은 영양학적으로 안전한 범위에 속해 있었다. 혈청 지질에는 유의적인 변화가 없었으며 혈당과 인슐린이나 C-peptide 함량에도 유의적인 차이는 없었으며 BUN이나 ALP는 감소하였고 헤모글로빈은 유의적으로 증가하였으나 모두 정상범위에 있었다. 배변 시간은 단축되었으며 건강에 대한 부정적인 자각증상도 감소되었다. 1일 섭취 열량은 1300 kcal 정도로 유지되었으며 비타민 A, 비타민 $B_2$, 엽산, 칼슘, 철, 아연등의 섭취량은 권장량의 80% 미만으로 나타났다. 그러므로 본 연구의 저열량식사와 체중감량제의 섭취는 체중 및 체지방 감소와 배변에 효과적이었으며 부정수소를 감소시킬 수 있었다.

탄수화물 및 단백질이 식이 제한을 받은 흰쥐의 회복에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Protein and Carbohydrate on the Recovery Rate of Restricted Rats)

  • This study was designed to compare the effect of protein with that of calorie, both of which were supplemented by separate feeding, on the recovery rate and metabolic change of undernourished rats. During the two weeks of food restriction, the weight of body and some major internal organs was reduced, compared with normal growing rats, but the extent of reduction was various. After that, recovery food was supplemented for two weeks. The amount of body nitrogen retention and its -percentage were lower in unsupplemented and sugar supplemented groups. Among the supplemented groups, its amount was increased according as the protein intake was higher, while its percentage was decreased. Body and internal organs weight change showed a similar tendency. Interrelation between calorie intake and body fat retention (liver fat content and epididymal fat pad weight) was not found regularly. Consequently, the recovery rate from restriction was higher in protein supplemented group than calorie supplemented group. But no significant difference could be found between the groups.

여대생을 위한 단기복합 체중조절프로그램 효과판정 (Evaluation of Short Term Weight Control Program for Female College Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate weight control program provided by university health care center for female college students. The program was 8-week long and composed of diet, exercise, and behavioral modification. Evaluation was made on the completion of 8-week program and a follow-up survey was done at 3-24 months after the end of program by telephone or bye-mail. Total of 76 women completed the 8-week program and 51 for follow-up survey. On the completion of 8-week program, significant decreases in body weight, BMI, body fat (kg), % body fat, and WHR were resulted, however, no change in muscle mass was found. Even the subjects without weight change showed significant reduction in body fat (kg) and % body fat. Total food intake was decreased resulting in reduced intakes of most nutrients. Meal distribution of energy was changed; %energy from snack decreased from 22% to 14%, and proportion for breakfast increased. Blood values of hemoglobin, hematocrit, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride were within normal range, and no changes were observed by this program. The follow-up survey revealed that 88.3% of the subjects continued to lose weight after completion of the program, while only 7.8% gained weight. And 78.4% of the subjects considered the program effective. In conclusion, the weight reducing regime with education is effective for long lasting weight control and health conscious behavior for female college student. Since the subjects reduced the size of meal, instead of cutting only calories down, food selection to meet all the nutrient requirements except energy should be emphasized.

레반 Diet 섭취에 의한 한국 여성의 체지방 축적 억제와 혈중 지질의 개선 효과 (The Effects of Fructose Polymer Levan on the Body Fat Accumulation and Serum Lipid Profiles of Korean Women)

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of a levan diet on the body fat accumulation and serum lipid composition of 29 Korean women over a period of up to 12 weeks (n=13 for the control group, n=16 for the levan group). The subjects ate an uncooked diet (6 g) with 400$m\ell$ of tap water twice a day. The mean body weight and height measurements of the subjects (levan group) at the outset were 66.0$\pm$8.8kg and 156.7$\pm$5.3cm, respectively. The subjects showed a significant reduction in weight, body fat mass, anthropometric measurements and skinfold thickness during the experimental period. The waist hip ratio (WHR) was 0.88$\pm$0.03 at the outset, and fell to 0.82$\pm$0.05 after 4 weeks. The intake of levan was also influenced on the levels of serum Fe, leptin, lipoprotein lipase, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride. The serum glucose levels were within the normal range during the experimental period. The initial serum triglyceride level was 121mg/dl, but fell to 103mg/dl after 4 weeks of levan supplementation. The current study demonstrates that a levan diet is effective in controlling weight, body fat, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride levels.

복부비만 여성의 슬링을 결합한 플랭크 운동 효과 (Effects of Plank Exercise on Combining Slings in Women with Abdominal Obesity)

  • Purpose. The study was conducted to find out the effects that women in their 20s with abdominal obesity can get from sling-based flanks. Methods. The study used In-Body to determine the weight and body fat rate of women in their 20s who were overweight at H University and used a tape measure to measure the circumference of the abdomen. Plank exercise using slings to reduce weight, body fat and abdominal circumference led to muscle stabilization and abdominal obesity reduction. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS ver. 23.0 statistics program. Results. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences in the weight, body fat rate and abdominal circumference of the subjects before and after intervention. Conclusions. Steady abdominal muscles exercise help stabilize the abdomen, reduce abdominal body fat rate, and are effective in managing obesity.

방기복령탕(防己茯嶺湯)이 비만유도생쥐의 혈당 및 체지방개선에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Bangkibokryeong-tang (Fangjifuling-tang) on the Reduction of Blood Glucose and Body Fat in High Fat Diet Induced Obese Mice)

  • Objectives This study aimed to investigate the effect of Bangkibokryeong-tang (BBT, Fangjifuling-tang) on blood glucose and body fat in high-fat diet-induced obese mice. Methods The experimental animals were divided into five groups- normal diet-fed control (ND), high-fat diet-fed control (HFD), HFD+BBT 75, HFD+BBT 150, and HFD+olistat as a positive drug control group. Markers of obesity, such as body weight, organ weight, diet efficiency, and serum levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, lipid content, leptin, adiponectin, glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT)/glutamic pyruvic transferase (GPT)/lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), blood glucose, and insulin, were measured. Furthermore, results of the oral glucose tolerance test and ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ inhibition activity were examined in obese mice. Results Mice treated with BBT demonstrate lower body and organ weight, and reduced weight gain and food efficiency than that in the HFD-only control group. In addition, BBT decreased lipid accumulation in the liver and the levels of enzymes such as GOT, GPT, and LDH in the serum. Furthermore, the levels of triglycerides, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), and leptin were decreased in the serum but the levels of high density lipoprotein (HDL) and adiponectin were increased in the BBT-treated group compared with the control group. The BBT-treated group also demonstrated decreased blood glucose and insulin concentrations induced by feeding on a high-fat diet and improved glucose tolerance. Conclusions Based on the results above, BBT may reduce body fat and hyperglycemia in HFD-induced obesity. This suggests that BBT may be clinically useful in the treatment of obesity.

The Effect of A-3826G Polymorphism of Uncoupling Protein-Ion Visceral Fat Area in Overweight Korean Women

  • Uncoupling protein-1 (UCP-1) plays a major role in thermogenesis, and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of obesity and metabolic disorders. The aim of this study was to estimate the effects of A-3826G polymorphism of UCP-1 gene on body fat distribution. Two hundred forty eight Korean female overweight subjects with BMI more than 25 kgfm2 participated in this study. The areas of abdominal subcutaneous and visceral fat of all subjects were measured from computed tomography cross sectional pictures of the umbilical region. Subcutaneous fat areas of upper and lower thigh were also measured. Body composition was measured by bio-impedance analysis, and serum concentrations of biochemical parameters, such as glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol etc, were also measured. Genotype of UCP-1 was analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) method. The frequencies of UCP-1 genotypes were AA type; $27.8\%,\;AG\;type;\;51.2\%\;and\;GG\;type;\;21.0\%,$ and the frequency of G allele was 0.47. Body weight, BMI, WHR, SBP, DBP and body compositions were not significantly different by UCP-1 genotype. Abdominal visceral fat area was significantly higher in AG and GG type compared with AA type (p=0.009), but subcutaneous fat areas were not significantly different by UCP-1 genotype. Among biochemical parameters, LDL cholesterol level was significantly higher in GG type compared with AA and AG types (p=0.033). Among all subjects, 121 subjects finished 1 month weight loss program containing hypocaloric diet and exercise. The reduction of body weight and BMI were lower in GG type compared with AA/AG type even though statistical significances were not found (p > 0.05). These results suggest that UCP-1 genotype has a significant effect on visceral fat accumulation among Korean female overweight subjects with BMI more than $25\;kg/m^2$.

Circuit training과 마황(麻黃) 복용이 태음인 여성의 심폐기능향상과 체지방감소에 미치는 상관성 연구 (Correlation between Cardiopulmonary System Function and Body Fat by Circuit Training and Ephedra Herba in Taeumin Women)

  • Objectives : This study was aimed to find out correlation of relation between cardiopulmonary function and body fat. Methods : We studied tendency of change of cardiopulmonary function and body fat for medication of Ephedrae Herba capsule by ergogenic aids with circuit training. We got the results for Exercise stress test and Segmental Bioelectrical Impedence Analysis. Results : 1. Sample Group of Ephedrae Herba medication and Circuit training generally showed the insignificant improvement of Body composition, but Control Group of Placebo and Circuit training significantly(p<.05) showed significant improvement of Body composition. 2. Sample Group of Ephedrae Herba medication and Circuit training generally showed the significant improvement of cardio-pulmonary function. Control Group of Placebo and Circuit training showed insignificant elevation of Cardiopulmonary function. 3. In the case of Sample Group, there wasn't closely correlation relationship of improvement of cardiopulmonary function and body composition, but in the case of Control Group, there was closely correlation relationship of improvement of cardiopulmonary function and body composition. Conclusions : It might be recognized that cardiopulmonary function has the correlation of body composition, and Ephedrae Herba might help the reduction of Body Fat by elevation of Cardiopulmonary function for ergogenic aids and it might be needed further study In various viewpoints.

여성에서 절식이 에너지 대사산물 및 혈청 PTH 수준과 무기질 배설에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Complete Fasting on Energy Metabolites and Serum Parathyroid Hormone and Mineral Excretion in Women)

  • This study was designed to observe the change of body composition and nutrient metabolites and the excretion of minerals during complete fasting for 10 days in thirty women. Average loss of body weight was 7.98kg and body fat was gradually reduced after 9 days fasting, but the loss of lean body mass was reduced after 7 days fasting. Serum glucose level was sustained at constant level, but serum levels of blood urea nitrogen, free acid and $\beta$-hydroxybutyrate were significantly increased during fasting but decreased after re-feeding. Urinary excretions of 3-methylhistidine, total creatinine, and urea were high in the beginning of fasting but gradually decreased. Serum level of parathyroid hormone was significantly reduced by fasting but regained after re-feeding. Serum level of minerals was at the constant level throughout the experimental period. The urinary excretion of minerals(Ca, K, Mg, P) was significantly increased in the early stage of fasting and then reduced from 7 days, but the excretion of Zn was continuously increased until the late stage of fasting. These results showed that amino acid fatty acid released from the breakdown of muscle protein and body fat, respectively, were utilized for energy during fasting. Body weight and BMI were reduced because of the increased muscle protein breakdown and body water excretion during early stage of fasting, but the significant body fat loss was after 9 days fasting. Therefore, it could be suggested to fast for longer than 10 days if the reduction of body fat was planned by fasting, and recommed to exercise and ingest more vitamins and minerals to replace the excreted minerals during fasting.
