The existing ship monitoring system currently in use has a limitation, which is that it can only identify a boat's location for finding a safe harbor or give an answer to a rescue signal. In addition to this, it is very difficult to add an expensive, more effective monitoring system to small boats because of their small infrastructure in comparison with large boats. Therefore, this study suggests that a new model could be required to better cater to the needs of small boats. The 'Smart Care System', based on location, is better able to monitor the boat and the crew of small boats in comparison with the existing ship monitoring system. Using biomedical data transmission equipment, it is able to survey and send biomedical data so that it can continuously monitor the crew's health. The boat has an intelligent interface device, which has the functions of GPS and attitude sensors, and a web based management system. We have conducted three experiments for the assessment of this system. The experiment of biological data transmission had a success rate of 98 percent, and the tests conducted for recognizing emergency situations also had a 98 percent success rate. In conclusion we confirmed the efficiency of this system.

The purpose of hull stress monitoring system(HSMS) is to lead hull structure to be safer at lower cost. We proposed a hull stress monitoring system for leisure boats using fiber-optic bragg grating(FBG) strain sensor. Fiber optic sensors are well suited for structure monitoring system, due to their ability to withstand harsh environments, immunity to electromagnetic interference, and reduce cabling installation cost when employing wavelength multiplexing. This paper presents an overview of current research and design of hull stress monitoring system for leisure boats.

Practical test items were analyzed to extend the existing scoring method for boat operator licenses to an electronic scoring method. We have attempted to digitize the method within the current practical test system scope and have developed an electronic scoring system using LiDAR sensors and WAVE communication. The results of the study are as follows; the first, the scoring data entered into the LiDAR and examiner score device on the boat were transferred from an integrated processing unit to a land control center through WAVE communication. The system was constructed and verified to store and manage examinee data. Second, when testing the meandering task, accurate distance measurement was achieved by using LiDAR instead of visually observing the stick (3 m), and an accurate distance was displayed through the examiner score device quickly. Finally, we confirmed that it is possible to smoothly transmit and process the WAVE communication used to transfer the score data acquired from the boat to the monitoring center at a high speed without loss.
Commercial catalyst (Cu-Zn/$Al_2O_3$, Johnson Matthey Co., 83-3 Catalyst) was applied to the hydrogen production by steam reforming of methanol in the micro-channel reactor (MCR). The steam reforming of methanol was tested over Cu-Zn catalyst at temperatures in the range of 200 and 300$^{\circ}C$, the catalyst size of 0.05${\sim}$2.2 mm, the space velocity of 3,000${\sim}$10,000 $hr^{-1}$ in a fixed bed continuous flow reactor. The conversion of methanol and the yield $H_2$ preferred high temperatures and low space velocities, and had optimal results with the particle size of 0.35 mm. Based on the results from experiments with fixed bed reactor, two types of MCR, boat bed and stacked bed MCRs, were studied. The stacked bed type MCR showed better methanol conversion compared with the boat type one.

Hoist have been installed at wharfs or seashore in the center of fishing village fraternities. A Hoist is used in harbor loading and unloading fishing gear or seafoods and is a device to refloat fishing boats into a breakwater or land in case of typhoon or bad weather. In this paper, we propose image perception and moving objects tracking system that detects boat's damage, theft and trespassing occurred at the wharf. This system detects objects' motion in real time by using the motion templet and tracks to concentrate on a moving object(person, boat, etc.) by using a PTZ camera.

In surveillance, monitoring, and target tracking operations, high-resolution images should be obtained even if the target is in a far distance. Frequent movements of vehicles such as boats degrade the image quality of onboard camera systems. Therefore, stabilizer mechanisms are required to stabilize the line of sight of boatboard camera systems against boat movements. This paper addresses design and implementation of a strapdown boatboard camera stabilizer. A two degree of freedom(DOF)(pan/tilt) robot performs the stabilization task. The main problem is divided into two subproblems dealing with attitude estimation and attitude control. It is assumed that exact estimate of the boat movement is available from an attitude estimation system. Estimates obtained in this way are carefully transformed to robot coordinate frame to provide desired trajectories, which should be tracked by the robot to compensate for the boat movements. Such a practical robotic system includes actuators with fast dynamics(electrical dynamics) and has more degrees of freedom than control inputs. Backstepping method is employed to deal with this problem by extending the control effectiveness.
This study investigated a method for monitoring fishes immigrating to upper streams from the sea in relation to water level with elapsed time, and measured fish behavior patterns and swimming speed in a fishing boat gateway using an acoustic camera system. This method was employed due to difficulties, linked to high turbidity, of using only underwater optical systems for monitoring fish migrating to brackish water. Results showed that fish length distribution showed high correlation between haul sampling and an automatic counting algorithm supported by the DIDSON software program. These results will help to maximize the effects of fish run management by increasing understanding of the amount of major fish species migrating in relation to durable water levels.

This study examined the power consumption of angling boats during entry, departure, and fishing operations using a black box-type storage device. Through this analysis, it determined the energy consumption and carbon emissions of small fishing boats used for catching the largehead hairtail. The energy consumption and carbon emissions were calculated using formulas provided by the Korea Energy Agency, which incorporated updated emission coefficients from 2022. The findings revealed that the average power consumption of small fishing boats for the largehead hairtail was 546.3 kWh, with a total energy consumption of 0.1164 TOE and carbon emissions of 24.057 CO2. The average energy consumption was calculated at 0.0006 TOE per kilogram, and the carbon emissions were determined to be 0.135 CO2/kg.

Fish school monitoring technology is utilized for various purposes, such as boat fishing and resource surveys. With advancements in information and communication technology, this technology has expanded its application to remote areas. Its significance has grown in fishing sites, particularly for improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of set-net fishing. Set-net fishing gears are not limited to coastal areas, but are also installed in inland and remote sea regions. Consequently, fishermen require technology that allows them to quickly transmit information about approaching fish schools and enables them to perform long-term monitoring. The development of remote monitoring technology for set-net fish schools must consider crucial design factors such as communication range, transmission speed, power consumption of information modules, and operational expenses. In this study, we developed a low-power remote monitoring module for set-net fish school based on WCDMA. The module was specifically designed to minimize power consumption, allowing for communication over long distances and extended operation times in set-net fishing applications. Furthermore, we developed a web server software application that enables remote access to fish schools and provides real-time weather information. The performance of the developed module was evaluated through set-net fishing site application and experiments with moving ships on the sea. The experimental results demonstrated that the remote monitoring system, consisting of the developed low-power remote monitoring module for set-net fish school based on WCDMA and a fish finder, had an average power consumption of 4.6 W, a maximum communication range of 22.84 km, and a data transmission and reception rate of 98.79%. The maximum fish school information transmission and reception rate was 97.26%
