A Study on the Strengthening of Side Structure Against Tug Push Loads (Tug Push 구조보강 방안 연구)

  • In case that tug boat pushes side structures of other large vessels to maneuver, it is required that contacted side structures of the maneuvered vessels have enough structural safety against tug push loads. The objective of this study is to evaluate the structural effect of carling which is installed between side longitudinal stiffeners. A comparative study of side structures with carling and without carling is performed to evaluate the effect of carling member by both FE analysis. According to the result, it is found that the carlings play effective role in the strength of side plates and side longitudinal stiffeners against tug push loads.

A Study on Bow Motions of High Speed Vessel in Regular Head Waves (고속선형의 선수운동에 관한 연구)

  • The advanced researches of the ship's motion in the seaway can predict the heaving, pitching and slamming of ship's motion. The researches as of today are that of displacement type such as a small typical fishing boat and U, UV and V bow ship forms under low speed. In recent day, the study of behaviours of high speed planning boat in the regular waves has been carried out by Bessho [5]. The calculation about behaviours of a high speed vessel in the longitudinal regular waves is calculated by Ordinary Strip Method in this paper. The data of the results were discussed and compared with Bessho's results. The conclusions deduced from this study are as follow, (1) The acceleration of motion calculated by the O.S.M. is similar with Bessho's data for the Fn 0.5 (2) The amplitudes of the behaviours of motions take peak at 1.0<λ/L<1.4.

  • 6,6-Dichlorobicyclo[3, 1, 0]hexane-3carboxylic acid was synthesized by dichlorocarbene addition into 3-cyclopentenecarboxylic acid using BTEA.Cl as phase transfer catalyst. $^1H$ NMR $^{13}C$ NMR data analyst showed that this compound had boat-like conformation and carboxyl group existed as trans form.

  • A scale model net test of the operation of a small two-boat midwater trawl net was performed in the circulating water tank at Pusan Fisheries College. The 1/32 scale model net was constructed after the modelling law of M. Tauti. This type of net is used in Europe for catching sprat like Hering. The net used was 1/32 the actual size. This scale was chosen with consideration for the water tank size. In this experiment, the transfomation of the net shape was observed especially inregard to variations in the height and breadth of the net mouth. These dimensions were varied by changing the breadth of the towing line and the connenting spread.

  • ZnO films have been grown easily with the conventional thermal evaporation method on SiO$\_$2/ coated Si wafers. Anhydrous zinc acetate has been used as evaporation source. Zinc-acetate was directly heated in the laboratory-made brass boat. Zinc-acetate was sublimed at the boat temperature of about 220.deg. C. The substrates were heated to 600.deg. C with home made tantalium heater. Oxygen has been flowed into the deposition chamber to change the partial pressure of oxygen. X-ray diffraction patterns showed all the films to be amorphous. The films deposited at high oxygen pressure exhibit higher resistivity than films at low pressure. Energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) and rutherford backscattering spectrometry(RBS) were conducted on the films to reveal the composition of the ZnO films.

  • The efficiency of magnetic compass direction sensor and magnetic compass by the laboratory experiment for the apparatus of generating artificial magnetic force and the onboard experiment on the fishing boat of coastal pot at the outside of Pusan Namhang were investigated. The results showed that the bearing angle of magnetic compass direction sensor was coincided with that of magnetic compass. However, the performance of magnetic compasses was unsuitable under the ISO rule by the characteristic experiment of damping curve. Therefore, the use of autopilot system using magnetic compass direction sensor which is based on the magnetic compass needs the sufficient notice.

  • Low-dislocation-density large-diameter GaAs single crystals with low-residual-strain have been strongly required. We have developed dislocation-free 3-inch Si-doped GaAs crystals for photonic devices [1], and low-dislocation-density low-residual-strain 4-inch to 6-inch [2, 3] semi-insulating GaAs crystals for electronic devices by Vertical Boat (VB) technique. We confirmed that VB substrates with low-residual-strain have higher resistance against slip-line generation during MBE process. VB-GaAs single crystals show uniform radial profile of resistivity reflecting to the flat solid-liquid interface during the crystal growth. Uniformity of micro-resistivity of VB-GaAs substrate is much better than that of the LEC-GaAs substrate, which is due to the low-dislocation-density of VB-GaAs single crystals.

  • TiB2-BN-AlN composite was fabricated with the addition of 0~12 wt% WC by HP-sintering. Their sinterability. microstructure mechanical and electrical properties were studied as a function of the WC content. The addition of WC up to 12 wt% increased the flexural strength and decreased electrical resistivity as compared with those of the TiB2-BN-AlN composites. The electrical resistivity of TiB2-BN-AlN composite with 4.3 wt% WC was 640$\mu$$\Omega$-cm. It was found that the TiB2-BN-AlN composites with WC addition more than 4wt% was suitable for the application to the Al evaporation boat.

  • Domestic small and medium ship companies have lack of leisure boat technologies and especially they have a problem about its low performance because of the overweight of boat hull. So it is necessary to have alternative manufacturing process to improve the mechanical properties of composite material. In this study, a vacuum curing system was developed as an alternative manufacturing process and then changed the fiber volume fractions of GFRP laminates. The properties of GFRP laminates such as void contents, Young's modulus and fracture toughness were determined for various fiber volume fractions.
