  • This paper describes the modeling and experimental results of coreless printed circuit board (PCB) based transformer that can be used for power conversion at high frequency operation. The principle of using coreless PCB based transformer in 2MHz, 10W class ZVS Flyback DC-DC converter has been successfully demonstrated. The maximum power conversion efficiency is 79%. Even for high operating frequency, an efficiency greater than 70% can be obtained with under 1% regulation error.

  • The design and performance of a SiC-MOSFET-based 11-kW bi-directional on-board charger (OBC) for electric vehicles is presented. The OBC consists of a three-phase two-level AC/DC converter and a CLLLC resonant converter. All the power devices are implemented with SiC-MOSFETs to reduce the conduction losses generated in the OBC, and the DC-link voltage is designed to track the level of battery voltage in the forward and reverse powering modes. As a result, the CLLLC resonant converter always runs at the switching frequency near the resonant frequency, resulting in high-efficiency operation at the maximum powering modes. As the DC-link voltage varies according to the battery voltage, the AC/DC converter in the proposed OBC adopts an adaptive DC-link voltage controller. The performance of the proposed 11-kW OBC is verified by a prototype converter with the following specifications: three-phase 60-Hz 380-V input, 11-kW capacity, and battery voltage range of 214-413-V, resulting in the conversion efficiency of over 95.0-% in the forward and reverse powering modes.

  • 본 논문에서는 FPGA기반의 SoC보드(Xilinx Virtex-4 ML401 EVM)를 이용한 전력인버터제어시스템을 설계하였다. 선박에 전력시스템을 적용하기 위해서 선박의 최신 통신 프로토콜인 NMEA 2000 표준 프로토콜을 적용하였으며 전력 시스템의 성능을 평가하기 위한 PC기반의 모니터링 프로그램을 제작하였다. 전력 제어시스템은 FPGA기반의 임베디드 SoC보드상에서 이중프로세서(Dualprocessor)형태로 설계하였으며 이중프로세서를 적용함으로써 실시간 제어 감시가 가능하다. 이중프로세서 중 하나는 전력 제어를 위한 PWM신호생성 및 전력 회로내의 주요 전력 파라미터를 센싱 하는 제어용 프로세서로 동작하며(Control processor) 다른 프로세서는 제어프로세서의 각종 전력 센서 파라미터와 제어 파라미터들을 이중포트 램(Dual Port RAM)을 이용하여 정보를 공유하고 외부 NMEA 2000프로토콜 기반의 모니터링 장치와 네트워크 기반의 통신을 수행하는 통신용 프로세서(Communication processor)로 구성된다. 본 논문에서 제작한 전력 제어시스템은 선박내의 분산발전,송배전 및 전압 레귤레이션 시스템에 적용 될 수 있다.

Estimation of Transferred Power from a Noise Source to an IC with Forwarded Power Characteristics

  • This paper proposes an accurate approach for predicting transferred power from a noise source to integrated circuits based on the characteristics of the power transfer network. A power delivery trace on a package and a printed circuit board are designed to transmit power from an external source to integrated circuits. The power is demonstrated between an injection terminal on the edge of the printed circuit board and integrated circuits, and the power transfer function of the power distribution network is derived. A two-tier calibration is applied to the test, and scattering parameters of the network are measured for the calculation of the power transfer function. After testing to obtain the indispensable parameters, the real received and tolerable power of the integrated circuits can be easily achieved. Our proposed estimation method is an enhancement of the existing the International Electrotechnical Commission standard for precise prediction of the electromagnetic immunity of integrated circuits.

  • At the present time, multimedia chip, internet application, and network equipment is designed by using ARM core. Because it has a good debugging, software compiler and needed low power. We must process a data coding to send a multimedia data by real time. So need to connect software and hardware algorithm. In this research, We design interface for ARM9/AMBA based board using VHDL for these function implementation. The board is used the ARM company´s ARM940T for software function implementation and Xilinx company´s Virtex E2000 for hardware function algorithm. The various hardware algorithm (ME,ME,DCT) block for performance can be implemented on this system.

Design and Control of the Phase Shift Full Bridge Converter for the On-board Battery Charger of Electric Forklifts

  • This paper describes the design and control of a phase shift full bridge converter with a current doubler, which can be used for the on-board charger for the lead-acid battery of electric forklifts. Unlike the common resistance load, the battery has a large capacitance element and it absorbs the entire converter output ripple current, thereby shortening the battery life and degrading the system efficiency. In this paper a phase shift full bridge converter with a current doubler has been adopted to decrease the output ripple current and the transformer rating of the charger. The charge controller is designed by using the small signal model of the converter, taking into consideration the internal impedance of the battery. The stability and performance of the battery charger is then verified by constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) charge experiments using a lead-acid battery bank for an electric forklift.

  • Recently one level higher intelligent switching board than established one by the application of intelligent building and digital system are being constructed. Therefore facility's high efficiency, high degree satisfaction, miniaturaization, standardization through application of communication technology and monitoring and controlling by computer system utilized by web-basis power control system and electric IT are practiced. Especially network must be constructed through unified IBS server that monitors every educational institute's switching boards in real time control system. And I intend to create methods to save energy and raise electricity quality by power demand prediction and remote-controled management and operation. In this thesis I intend to suggest measures of forming unified system through researching educational institute's ways of constructing switching board and status analysis and overcoming technical difficulties in user's side and saving and maintenance expense.

  • In this paper, network management system(NMS) was developed using Ethernet network for several devices. Recently, due to the development of the information communication, network has been constructed several place. And management system using network has been studied due to the increment of necessity of remote control for industrial device. Agent board that necessity of NMS, was developed using general micro-controller, it operates like stand-alone network device, supports TCP/IP protocol suite, has the ability to connect to industrial device and communicates each other. Also manager base on MMI was developed, it operates with agent board and supports effective management. To prove this system UPS(uninterruptible power supply) is selected as the example of industrial device. Finally, experimental result verifies the communication between agent board and manager.

  • Magnetic levitation system is nonlinear and inherently unstable, so it is difficult to control. Analog control circuit was widly used as the controller of magnetic levitation system, but digital controller is now substituted for analog controller according to development of digital electronics. In this study, Atmel AVR series, ATmega 128 which is a kind of $\mu$-processor for digital controller is used because the chip is cheap and popular. We designed and made ATmega 128 one-board controller and aimed to verify validity through the experiance of levitation response.

  • We have designed the power control unit which belongs to the power cabinet and controls the power supplied to Control Rod Drive Mechanism(CRDM) as a digital system based on Digital Signal Processor(DSP). The power control unit dualized as the form of Master/Slave has had its increased reality. The Central Process Unit(CPU) board of a power control unit possesses two Digital Signal Processors(DSPs) of the control DSP for performing the tasks of power control and system monitoring and the communication of the Control DSP and the Communication DSP. To accomplish the functions requested in the power control unit effectively, we have installed Field Programmable Gate Arrays(FPGAS) on the CPU board and have FPGAs perform the memory mapping, the generation of each chip selection signal, the giving and receiving of the signals between the power controllers dualized, the fault detection and the generation of the firing signals.
