  • In IoT environment, making sure of trust of IoT devices is the most important one than others. The security threats of nowadays almost stay at exposure or tampering of information. However, if human life is strongly connected to the Internet by IoT devices, the security threats will probably target human directly. In case of devices, authentication is verified using the device-known private key. However, if attacker can modify the device physically, knowing the private key cannot be the evidence of trust any more. Thus, we need stronger verification method like code attestation. In this paper, we use software-based code attestation for efficiency. We also suggest secure code attestation method against copy of original code and implement it on embedded device and analyze its performance.

  • In this paper, we develop an electrostatic monitoring system which is composed of an electrostatic prediction system and a warning message transmission system. The electrostatic prediction system in a factory receives the value of electrostatic charge from the electrostatic sensor and predicts the next value by using past data and sends the value to the warning message transmission system through the bluetooth communication. The warning message transmission system gets a warning signal and transmits the warning message to the worker's cellphone through a commercial SMS web by a socket program running on Windows PC in a control room. We propose electrostatic forecasting algorithms based on LSR(least square regression) using weight factors in an electrostatic prediction system. Simulation results show that the algorithm with dynamically variable weight factors is best with 64.69V standard deviation and a warning message transmitted by the warning message transmission system is displayed on cellphone after about 5 seconds.

  • Decentralized Identity is based on the concept of self-sovereign identity, in which holders manage and provide their own credentials. However, a procedure is required to obtain credentials from issuers, and there is a risk of mess personal information leaking due to negligence of the issuers. In this paper, we propose a peer decentralized identity system based on Peer DID technology that allows only participants to verify their identity in 1:1 or 1:N small groups by matching the holder with the issuer. It is directly connected to a mobile device using short-range wireless communications such as bluetooth, and the holders create and provide their own credentials in person to the other party, thus fully realizing the self-sovereignty identity. The proposed system can simplify the identification process, improve security and privacy, and reduce costs. Furthermore, an extended architecture is possible to connect the proposed system and the distributed ledger to identify users in other domains. In the future, based on various technologies, it is also necessary to expand research on identity systems that can be utilized for human-to-thing and things-to-things authentication.

  • Bicycles are a pollution-free means of transportation. In addition to leisure, the use of bicycles is increasing as alternative eco-friendly transportation. Accordingly, bicycle accidents are also increasing. The purpose of this study is to implement bicycle black box technology to identify situation when a bicycle accident occurs. Currently, bicycle black box products are mainly based on video cameras, and are commercially available by adding various functions mainly on high resolution cameras and are sold at high prices. If a bicycle accident occurs, quantitative data on the accident location at the time of the accident and the state of the bicycle at the time of the accident is required. In this study, IMU sensor used to obtain acceleration and slope, and time and coordinates are obtained. In addition, real-time acceleration and tilt data while is stored in memory card and by using Bluetooth transmit to the smart phone owned by the in real time to prevent accidents and to monitor status.

  • Urban public health monitoring in smart cities focuses on the control of conditions and health challenges in urban environments. Considering the rapid spread of diseases and pandemics, it is important for health authorities to trace people carrying the virus. In smart cities, this tracing must be interoperable and intelligent, especially in indoor surfaces characterized by small distances between people. Therefore, to fight pandemics, it is necessary to start with the already-existing digital equipment of the Internet of Things, such as connected objects and smartphones. In this study, the developed system is employed to provide a social IoT network and suggest a strategy which allows reliable traceability without threatening the privacy of users. This IoT-based system allows respecting the social distance between persons sharing public services in smart cities without applying smartphone applications or severe confinement. It also permits a return to normal life in case of viral pandemic and ensures the much-desired balance between economy and health. The present study analyses previous proposed social distance systems then, unlike these studies, suggests an intelligent and distributed IoT based strategy for positioning students. Two scenarios of static and dynamic optimization-based placement of Bluetooth Low Energy devices are proposed and an experimental study shows the contribution and complementarity of the introduced contact tracing strategy with the applications on smartphones.

  • Indoor location-based services have been developed based on the Internet of Things technologies which measure and analyze users who are moving in their daily lives. These various indoor positioning technologies require separate hardware and have several disadvantages, such as a communication protocol which becomes complicated. Based on the fact that a reduction in signal strength occurs according to the distance due to the physical characteristics of the transmitted signal, RSSI technology that uses the received signal strength of the wireless signal used in this paper measures the strength of the transmitted signal and the intensity of the attenuated received signal and then calculates the distance between a transmitter and a receiver, which requires no separate costs and makes to implement simple measurements. It was applied calculating the value for the average RSSI and the RSSI filtering feedback. Filtering is used to reduce the error of the RSSI values that are measured at long distance. It was confirmed that the RSSI values through the average filtering and the RSSI values measured by setting the coefficient value of the feedback filtering to 0.5 were ranged from -61 dBm to - 52.5 dBm, which shows irregular and high values decrease slightly as much as about -2 dBm to -6 dBm as compared to general measurements.

  • The recorder at observatory can save the measured data from water gauge and rain gauge at an interval of five minutes. And then, the RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) in observatory sends the measured data in the recorder to the TM (Telemetering) in FCO (Flood Control Office) at an interval of ten minutes using VHF or satellite communication. But the transmitted data is not the stored data at the recorder, it is just data that is measured at an interval of ten minutes. In the FCO, the transmitted data is analyzed in order to forecast the flood. And also one of the most important things is the maintenance of an observatory. In this paper, an effective management system for the flood forecast is proposed. It uses the CDMA and the Blutooth technology on PDA. The proposed system is very portable, and also easily able to send the data stored at the recorder in observatory to TM in FCO without RTU. And it allows us to view remotely the data of other observatories by downloading from the FCO. Hence the system can do efficiently the maintenance of observatory without wasting manpower and time.

  • The purpose of the brain-computer (machine) interface (BCI or BMI) is to provide a method for people with damaged sensory and motor functions to use their brain to control artificial devices and restore lost ability via the devices. Functional electrical stimulation (FES) is a method of applying low level electrical currents to the body to restore or to improve motor function. The purpose of this study was to develop a SSVEP-based BCI rehabilitation training system with FES for spinal cord injured individuals. Six electrodes were attached on the subjects' scalp ($PO_Z$, $PO_3$, $PO_4$, $O_z$, $O_1$ and $O_2$) according to the extended international 10-20 system, and reference electrodes placed at A1 and A2. EEG signals were recorded at the sampling rate of 256Hz with 10-bit resolution using a BIOPAC system. Fast Fourier transform(FFT) based spectrum estimation method was applied to control the rehabilitation system. FES control signals were digitized and transferred from PC to the microcontroller using Bluetooth communication. This study showed that a rehabilitation training system based on BCI technique could make successfully muscle movements, inducing electrical stimulation of forearm muscles in healthy volunteers.

  • This paper introduces a biocompatible packaging system for implantable medical device having a hermetic sealing, such that a perfect physical and chemical isolation between electronic medical system and human body (including tissue, body fluids, etc.) is obtained. The hermetic packaging includes an electronic MEMS pressure sensor, power charging system, and bluetooth communication system to wirelessly measure variation of capacitance. The packaging was acquired by Quartz direct bonding and $CO_2$ laser welding, with a size of width $ 6cm{\times}length\;10cm{\times}lheight\;3cm$. Hermetic sealing of the packaged system was tested by changing the pressure in a hermetic chamber using a precision pressure controller, from atmospheric to 900 mmHg. We found that the packaged system retained the same count or capacitance values with sensor 1 - 25,500, sensor 2 - 26,000, and sensor 3 - 20,800, at atmospheric as well as 900 mmHg pressure for 5 hours. This result shows that the packaging method has perfect hermetic sealing in any environment of the human body pressure.
