In this paper, we investigated the effect of luminescence properties of various concentrations of magnesium-doped ZnS:Mn phosphor excited by plasma luminescence device. The PL intensity was evaluated in the range of 300~500 nm excitation wavelengths. We found the highest PL intensity of the phosphors excited by 365 nm and 450 nm was observed at Mg concentrations of 1.4 wt% and 0.8 wt%, respectively. In addition, an emission peak was distinguished at 580 nm wavelength. With increasing Mg dopant level, enhanced PL intensity was observed, which is possibly applicable to color converting materials by blue emission for white light sources. Finally, we evaluated the luminance properties of color converting ZnS:Mn,Mg phosphors with plasma blue light source. the white luminance of plasma light source with CIE(0.36,0.26) was established by color converting phosphors of ZnS:Mn with 0.8 wt% Mg.
The surface flames in porous ceramic burner are experimentally characterized to investigate the effects of equivalence ratio and firing rates. The results show that the surface flames are classified into green, red radiant and blue surface flame as the decrease of equivalence ratio. And each flame is maintained very stable and represents the same flame characteristics at any orientation of ceramic burner. Particularly the blue surface flame is found to be very stable at very lean equivalence ratio at 7000kcal/hr to 20000kcal/hr firing rates. And the exhausted NOx was analysed to find out which flame has lower NOx emission. The blue surface flame shows the lowest NOx emission regardless of the location of burner since it sustains very stable at lean mixture ratio.

Organic electroluminesencent device have been studied because of its easy fabrication and high brightness for plate panel display instead of cathode ray tube. There are some device structure for full color filter system can be applicable to the full color application if the blue light organic electroluminesencent device(OELD) is developed. In this study, we fabricated OELD of ITO/CuPc/PBD/LiF/Al using mixed of 500, 600, $700[{\AA}]$ by vacuum method as a emitting layer. We studied the voltage-current, voltage-luminance characteristics and blue light emission of OELD,
As a fundamental study on organic electroluminescence(EL), blue emitting materials were synthesized and characterized. Individual blue colored hydrazone derivatives were synthesized from the reaction of aldehydes (phthalaldehyde, isophthalaldehyde) with the corresponding amnios (1-methyl -1-phenylhydrazine, 1,1-diphenylhydrazine hydrochloride). Recrystallization of hydrazones from chloroform revealed the melting temperature within $142∼156^{\circ}C$. Photoluminescence(PL) analysis on each hydrazone showed that emission range were blue(458∼478 nm). The structure of obtained hydrazones were elucidated by FT-IR, $^1$H-NMR and C, H, N elemental analyzer.

We have fabricated blue phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes (PHOLEDs) using a 3,5'-N,N'-dicarbazole-benzene (mCP) host and iridium (III) bis[(4,6-difluorophenyl)-pyridinato-N,$C^{2'}$] picolinate (Flrpic) guest materials, The Flrpic was partially doped into the mCP host layer, for investigating recombination zone, current efficiency, and emission characteristics of the blue PHOLEDs. The recombination of electrons and holes takes place inside the mCP layer adjacent to the mCP/hole blocking layer interface. The best current efficiency was obtained in a device with an emission layer structure of mCP (10 nm)/mCP:Flrpic (20 nm, 10%). The high current efficiency in this device was attributed to the confinement of Ffrpic triplet excitons by the undoped mCP layer with high triplet energy, which blocks diffusion of Ffrpic excitons to the adjacent hole transport layer with a lower triplet energy.

A stacked white organic light-emitting diode (OLED) having a blue/orange emitting layer was fabricated by synthesizing nitro-DPVT, a new derivative of the blue-emitting material DPVBi on the market. The white-emission of the two-wavelength type was successfully obtained by using both nitro-DPVT for blue~emitting material, orange emission as a host material and Rubrene for orange emission as a guest material. The basic structure of the fabricated white OLED is glass/ITO/NPB$(200{\AA})$/nitro-DPVT$(100{\AA})$/nitro-DPVT:$Rubrene(100{\AA})/BCP(70{\AA})/Alq_3(150{\AA})/Al(600{\AA})$. To evaluate the. characteristics of the devices, firstly, we varied the doping concentrations of fluorescent dye Rubrene from 0.5 % to 0.8 % to 1.3 % to 1.5 % to 3.0 % by weight. A nearly pure white-emission was obtained in CIE coordinates of (0.3259, 0.3395) when the doping concentration of Rubrene was 1.3 % at an applied voltage of 18 V. Secondly, we varied the thickness of the NPB layer from $150{\AA}\;to\;200{\AA}\;to\;250{\AA}\;to\;300{\AA}$ by fixing doping with of Rubrene at 1.3 %. A nearly pure white-emission was also obtained in CIE coordinates of (0.3304, 0.3473) when the NPB layer was $250-{\AA}$ thick at an applied voltage of 16 V. The two devices started to operate at 4 V and to emit light at 4.5 V. The external quantum efficiency was above 0.4 % when almost all of the current was injected.

This study uses neon, xenon, and helium gas mixture microdischarge to determine the effects of priming particles on the neon emission characteristics in an alternate current plasma display panel (AC PDP). The infrared (823 nm) and neon emission (585 nm) intensities are measured and compared in the blue cells in the case of new discharge with priming particles or conventional discharge without priming particles, respectively. It is found that the priming particles can produce a plasma discharge effectively even under the weak electric field condition, thereby resulting in reducing the neon emission intensity remarkably without sacrificing the IR emission intensity. As a result, it is found that the Ne emission intensity is reduced by about 46.4 % but the blue visible emission intensity is increased by about 15.2 % when compared with the conventional discharge without priming particles.

In this study, systematical investigations were carried out on crystal qualifies and optical properties of $ZnSe_{1-x}:Te_x$ (x=0.002-0.04) thin films frown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The crystal qualifies and optical properties have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Photoluminescence (PL) measurements, respectively. From the XRD measurements, the crystallographic characteristics showed mediocre crystal quality with increasing the Te composition. From the PL measurements, emission in the visible spectrum region from blue to green was obtained by varying the Te content of the ZnSe:Te epilayers. The efficient blue and green emission were attributed to the recombination of excitons trapped at isoelectronic isolated a single Te atom and $Te_n(n{\geq}2)$ clusters. respectively. The blue emission become dominant in Te tightly doped $ZnSe_{1-x}:Te_x$$(Te=0.2\%)$ epilayers with increasing temperature. For the Te heavily doping condition $(Te=4.0\%)$, the dominant green emission could be observed at around 160K.
The $Y_2SiO_5:Ce$ phosphors were synthesized by sol-gel technique in order to improve the performance of blue emitting phosphors for field emission display(FED). The resulted$Y_2SiO_5:Ce$ phosphors enhanced the emission intensity. In addition, calcination temperature of sol-gel technique(1300~140$0^{\circ}C$) was lower than that of the solid state reaction(>1$600^{\circ}C$). Under 365 nm and low voltage electron excitations. $Ce^{3+}$ -activated $Y_2SiO_5$phosphors showed blue emission band with a range of 400~ 430nm. Especially, 2mol% $Ce^{3+}$ doped $Y_2SiO_5:Ce$phosphors showed the maximum emission intensity. We have also controlled drying temperature of wet gel, pH, and $H_2O$/TEOS molar ratio for the optimum condition of TEOS hydrolysis.

EL (electro luminescent) is generally studied as a large size plane light emitting device and flexible light source because of it's simple manufacturing process. In this experiment, we manufactured flexible white emitting light source using Ni-foil with blue phosphor and color change materials. With increasing the thickness of color change material, the luminance of white emission is increased and the color coordinate of white color was shifted to pure white of (0.317,0.328) by strong emission of color change materials excited by blue excitation spectra. Also the luminance level was 30% higher in white emitting light device than blue only light source.
