The present study was carried out to produce the hematological and blood chemical findings after hypophysectomy in rats. Hypophysectomy was performed by the parapharyngeal method and the sham surgery was performed for the control group. Two weeks after the operation, the body weight of the hypophysectomized and control rats was measured daily for 5 days. We deleted the rats the weight gain of which is less than 5 g during 5 days from the hypophysectomy group. The successful operation rate was approximately 40%. In the hypophysectomized and control rats, their blood samples were collected from posterior vena cava after celiotomy under generally anesthesia with ether. Hematological parameters such as erythrocyte count, leukocyte count, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit level, and platelet count were determined by Animal Blood Counter. The erythrocyte count, hemoglobin concentration, and hematocrit level were lower significantly (p<0.01), and the leukocyte count was lower significantly (p<0.05) in hypophysectomy group compared with control group. But the plate count did not show significant difference (p>0.05) between hypophysectomy group and control group. Also, blood chemical parameters such as glucose, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), aspartate animotransferase, albumin, total protein, cholesterol, calcium, and magnesium in serum were determined. Except BUN concentration, all parameters were not affected by hypophysectomy. But the BUN concentration was higher significantly (p<0.01) in hypophysectomy group compared with control group.

It is well known that malignant tumor have hypoxic cell fraction, which is radio resistant and is one of the most important cause of local recurrence after radiotherapy. One of the causes of hypoxia in tumor is blood flow decrease due to increase in blood flow resistance and one of the causes of increased blood flow resistance could be attributed to the increase in blood viscosity. For the evaluation of the change of blood viscosity in oral cancer, experiments were carried out to test the change of blood viscosity among the normal control and xenografted oral cancer nude mice. Relative viscosity measured against distilled water was $3.30{\pm}0.14$ for normal control, and $3.67{\pm}0.62$ for tumor bearing mice at the first time of blood sampling in experimental period ($100mm^3$$200mm^3$). There was no statistically significant difference between the control group and experimental group (p>0.05). However, as the tumor grew, significant difference of blood viscosity was detected at the third time of blood sampling (control group:$3.37{\pm}0.59$, and experimental group: $4.31{\pm}0.41\;300mm^3$

The various blood pressure simulators have been proposed to evaluate and improve the performance of the automatic sphygmomanometer. These have some problems such as the deviation of the actual blood pressure waveform, limitation in the blood pressure condition of the simulator, or difficulty in displaying the blood flow. An improved simulator using disturbance observer is proposed to supplement the current problems of the blood pressure simulator. The proposed simulator has an artificial arm model capable of feeding appropriate fluids that can generate the blood pressure waveform to evaluate the automatic sphygmomanometer. A controller was designed and thereafter, simulation was performed to control the output signal with respect to the reference input in the fluid dynamic model using the proposed proportional control valve. To minimize the external fluctuation of pressure applied to the artificial arm, a disturbance observer was designed on the plant. A hybrid controller combined with a proportional controller and feed-forward controller was fabricated after applying a disturbance observer to the control plant. Comparison of the simulations between the conventional proportional controller and the proposed hybrid controller indicated that even though the former showed good control performance without disturbance, it was affected by the disturbance signal induced by the cuff. The latter exhibited an excellent performance under both situations.
The hemopoietic effects of deer blood (whole blood, blood cell, plasma, respectively) were examined using in vivo rat model. Experimental animals (Sprague-Dawley rat, male, 200 g) were divided into negative control group (injection of saline), positive control group (injection of Sipjeondaebotang) experimental groups (injection of whole blood, blood cell, plasma) and healthy control group. Cyclophosphamide(150mg/kg) was injected into experimental groups, negative and positive control group to induce bone marrow supression. After 8 days, freez dried deer blood (whole blood, blood cell, plasma respectively) and Sipjeondaebotang of 200 mg/kg in dose was administered orally into experimental groups and positive control group, once a day for 3 days (A group) and once a day for 12 days (B group) respectively. And then body weight and organ weight, biochemical profile (ALB, GOT, GPT, PRO, CRE), hematological values (WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH, MCHC, PLT) and CBC differentiation (Neutro, Lymph, Mono, Reticulo) were carried out. Finally, platelets were specially increased in the plasma treated A group and reticulocytes were specially increased in the plasma treated B group.
The liver function test was performed by means of two radioisotope tracer techniques in 20 normal subjects and in 63 patients with hepatobiliary diseases. The blood disappearance rates of $^{131}I$-rose bengal and of $^{198}Au$ colloid were determined by external counting method. The hepatocellular function and the hepatic blood flow were estimated from the observed data and the results were compared with those of the conventional liver function tests. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The mean blood disappearance half time of $^{131}I$-rose bengal was $6.6{\pm}0.63$ minutes in normal control, $17.7{\pm}6.93$ in cirrhosis of the liver, $16.6{\pm}4.80$ in acute hepatitis, and $14.7{\pm}3.46$ in obstructive jaundice. It was markedly prolonged in the hepatobiliary diseases as compared with the normal control, but there was no significant difference among the hepatobiliary diseases. 2. The mean blood disappearance half time of $^{198}Au$ colloid was $4.0{\pm}0.66$ minutes in normal control, $9.8{\pm}3.42$ in cirrhosis of the liver, $4.4{\pm}0.82$ in acute hepatitis, and $5.0{\pm}1.42$ in obstructive jaundice. The difference between cirrhosis of the liver and normal control Was statistically significant. However, there was no definite difference among acute hepatitis, obstructive jaundice, and normal control. The mean blood disappearance rate constant (K value) was $0.177{\pm}0.028/minute$ in normal control. In cirrhosis of the liver, it was markedly decreased which was suggestive of the reduced hepatic blood flow. 3. The ratio of $^{131}I$-rose bengal blood disappearance half time to $^{198}Au$ colloid disappearance half time was $1.68{\pm}0.20$ in normal control, $1.82{\pm}0.31$ in cirrhosis of the liver, $3.80{\pm}0.82$ in acute hepatitis, and $3.01{\pm}0.54$ in obstructive jaundice. The ratios in acute hepatitis and obstructive jaundice were remarkably higher than those in normal control and cirrhosis of the liver. 4. There was a significant correlation between the blood disappearance half time of $^{131}I$-rose bengal and that of $^{198}Au$ colloid in cirrhosis of the liver. 5. In cirrhosis of the liver, the blood disappearance half times of $^{131}I$-rose bengal and of $^{198}Au$ colloid were inversely correlated to the serum albumin level. In acute hepatitis, there was a good positive correlation between the blood disappearance half time of $^{131}I$-rose bengal and the serum transaminase activities. In obstructive jaundice, the blood disappearance half time of $^{131}I$-rose bengal was correlated to the serum bilirubin level.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of soybean on blood glucose and lipid concentrations, and antioxidant enzyme activity in type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM) patients. We divided patients into two groups and fed them, respectively, a basal diet(control group) and a basal diet with 69 g/d of soybean(soybean group) for 4 weeks. Pills with roasted soybean powder were provided to the soybean supplementation group three times a day. Macronutrients intake except dietary fiber was similar between the two groups. No significant differences were observed in dietary intakes or body weight before and after the supplementation. Energy composition ratio of C:F:P was 65:19:16 in the control group, 64:20:16 in the soybean group. The blood parameters of subjects before supplementation, such as fasting blood glucose, postprandial glucose level, total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol and $HbA_1C$ were not different between the two groups. After supplementation, fasting blood glucose(p<0.001), postprandial glucose level(p<0.001) and serum triglyceride level(p<0.05) were significantly reduced in the soybean group in comparison with the control group. The total cholesterol level was not significantly different between the control and the supplemented group after 4 weeks of treatment. TBARS levels of the soybean group were not significantly different from those of the control group. The activities of catalase(p<0.01) and glutathione peroxidase(p<0.05) were significantly higher in the soybean group compared to the control group. The results of this study suggest that soybean supplementation would be helpful to control blood glucose and serum lipid in diabetic patients. Also, soybean showed an antioxidant activity that may contribute to enhance the effect of antioxidant defense. This activity contributes to protection against oxidative damage in type 2 DM patients. Soybean may have potential use in the disease management of patients with DM.
This study was designed to examine the effects of bitter melon (BM) on the plasma blood glucose and cholesterol levels in diabetic rats. Diabetes mellitus was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats through an injection of streptozotocin (STZ) dissolved in a citrate buffer into the tail vein at a dose of 45 mg/kg of body weight. Sprague-Dawley rats were then fed for four weeks, with the experimental groups receiving a modified diet containing 5% or 10% powder derived from BM. The experimental groups were divided into 4 groups, consisting of the normal control group, STZ-control group and diabetic fed with BM 5% & 10% treated groups. The rats' body weight, blood glucose and cholesterol values were measured along with the hematocrit (Hct) values and aminotransferase activities. Body weight losses were observed in the diabetic groups, whereas the control rats gained weight. There were significant differences in kidney weight between the control group and the diabetic groups. The Hct levels of the diabetic BM-treated group were significantly higher than the STZ-control group. Aspartate aminotransferase activity was lower in the non-diabetic group compared to the diabetic experimental groups. Further, the blood glucose was significantly decreased in the 5% & 10% BM of the diabetic group. There were no significant difference in cholesterol levels among the diabetic groups. These results indicate that the supplementation of bitter melon may have a favorable influence on reducing the blood glucose level in STZ-induced diabetic rats.
Objective: Few data were available on glycemic control at the early prediabetic stage, though it is the important stage to prevent diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this research was to examine the glycemic control effects of herb medicine treatment (DA-9802) in prediabetic stage patients Methods: In this randomized, single blind, placebo-controlled study, we compared Sanyak extract (DA-9802) with placebo for the treatment of glycemic control effects in prediabetic stage patients. 45 volunteers who satisfied the requirements were enrolled in the study. They took Sanyak extract (DA-9802) or placebo treatment three times a day for 8 weeks. Blood sugar, Total Symptom Score (TSS) and blood serum were measured at weeks 0, 4, and 8. Results: In the DA-9802 group, fasting blood sugar changes between before 8 weeks significantly decreased. Fasting blood sugar, fasting blood sugar gaps between before and after treatment for 8 weeks, insulin changes and C-peptide significantly decreased at 8 weeks compared with those of the placebo group. Conclusion: Herb medicine treatment (DA-9802) is effective in glycemic control on prediabetic stage.

Hypotension is one of the potential causes of dizziness. In this review, we summarize the studies published in recent years about the electrophysiological and pharmacological mechanisms of hypotension-induced dizziness and the role of the vestibular system in the control of blood pressure in response to hypotension. It is postulated that ischemic excitation of the peripheral vestibular hair cells as a result of a reduction in blood flow to the inner ear following hypotension leads to excitation of the central vestibular nuclei, which in turn may produce dizziness after hypotension. In addition, excitation of the vestibular nuclei following hypotension elicits the vestibulosympathetic reflex, and the reflex then regulates blood pressure by a dualcontrol (neurogenic and humoral control) mechanism. In fact, recent studies have shown that peripheral vestibular receptors play a role in the control of blood pressure through neural reflex pathways. This review illustrates the dual-control mechanism of peripheral vestibular receptors in the regulation of blood pressure following hypotension.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to find out the patterns of teenage girls who is easy to suffer from Menstrual Disorders. Methods: The data from the 1681 participants were collected using a structured menstrual history questionnaire. Based on the survey responses, we had 97 adolescents with menstrual disorder as the test group and 97 adolescents without menstrual disorder as the control group. The clinical trials subjects were asked to respond to another questionnaire for identifying Blood Pressure Pulse Analyzer tests. We identified significant variables for dysmenorrhea from comparison between the test and control group; a binary response variable from the test group's responses for ever experiencing dysmenorrhea and explanatory variables from Blood Pressure Pulse Analyzer. Results: The reselts of Blood Pressure Pulse Analyzer test showed that the score of Energ_R, EIX_R were lower in dysmenorrhea group than the control group. The reselts of Blood Pressure Pulse Analyzer test showed that the score of Energ_R, EIX_R were lower, and T4_R were higher in hypomenorrhea group than the control group. The reselts of Blood Pressure Pulse Analyzer test showed that the score of Energ_R, EIX_R were lower in Irregular Menstruation group than the control group. Conclusions: Blood Pressure Pulse Analyzer test showed that the score of Energ_R, EIX_R were lower in the test group than the control group.
