일상식이를 섭취하는 일부 농촌 성인 남녀의 식이, 혈액 및 뇨중의 납, 철분, 구리 수준 (The Dietary, Blood and Urinary Levels of Lead, Iron and Copper in Self Selected Dietary Rural People)

  • This study was carried out to estimate intake level of Pb, Fe, Cu in rural area of Korea(12 males and 18 females). Analyses for the nutritional status of the record, duplicated diet collections, 24-hour urine collections, and venous blood sampling before measuring of blood pressure. The mean age and blood pressure of the subjects were 45.8$\pm$11.1years and 117.5$\pm$22.2/80.8$\pm$15.6mmHe in males, and 41.9$\pm$11.0years, 110.0$\pm$ 11.9/73.9$\pm$8.5mmHg in females, respectively. In respect to both males and females, mean BMI were 22.0$\pm$2.3, 23.1$\pm$3.0, mean Rohrer index were 131.8$\pm$14.8, 142.4$\pm$20.2 and mean skinfold thickness were 12.4$\pm$5.9mm, 25.3$\pm$7.4mm, respectively. The daily mean intakes of Pb, Fe, and Cu estimated for 3 days were 277.2$\pm$111.2$\mu\textrm{g}$/day, 12.7$\mu\textrm{g}$ 7.6mg/day, and 3.0$\pm$1.4mg/day in males and 192.0$\pm$72.4$\mu\textrm{g}$/day, 13.3$\pm$5.8mg/day, and 3.7 $\pm$1.7mg/day in females, respectively. The mean concentrations of serum Pb, Fe, Cu were 11.0$\pm$2.0$\mu\textrm{g}$/dl, 131.1$\pm$42.6$\mu\textrm{g}$/dl, 120.3$\pm$25.7$\mu\textrm{g}$/dl in males and 9.0$\pm$1.2$\mu\textrm{g}$/dl, 112.2$\pm$ 35.9$\mu\textrm{g}$/dl, 117.3$\pm$17.9$\mu\textrm{g}$/dl in females, respectively. The mean levels of Hb and Hct were 15.1$\pm$1.1g/dl, 45.2$\pm$3.3% in males and 13.1$\pm$0.8g/dl, 39.8$\pm$2.6% in females, respectively. The 24-hour urinary excretions of Pb, Fe, Cu were 35.5$\pm$10.0$\mu\textrm{g}$/day, 0.16$\pm$0.12mg/day, 60.12$\pm$0.02$\mu\textrm{g}$/day in males, and 25.3$\pm$11.0$\mu\textrm{g}$/day, 0.24$\pm$0.20mg/day, 70.07$\pm$0.03$\mu\textrm{g}$/day in females, respectively. In conclusion, the Pb intake in self selected diet of this subjects was not in the level that antagonized to Fe and Cu metabolism seriously.

Effects of supplementation cysteine-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles compared to FeSO4, on reproductive performance in male quail

  • Iron has a crucial role in growth as part of metalo-proteins like haemoglobin or myoglobin, enzymes; they are also involved in energetic reactions. Iron plays a vital role in fertility. At high doses, Iron has a harmful consequence on the reproductive system, which can be strongly reflected the final stage of spermatogenesis. Nutritional products are claiming to use nanotechnology and it is important to recognize the potential toxicity of nano-sized nutrients. Recently iron nanoparticles were proposed as a food additive for poultry. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of L-cystein coated iron oxide nanoparticles on reproductive performance in male quails. The results of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer, Alternating Gradient Force Magnetometer and Scaning Electron Microscopy showed that iron oxide nanoparticles was produced and have been coated with L-cycstein (Fe3O4-Cys NPs). A total of 100 one-week-old quail chicks were randomly placed to five groups of five replicates. Four quails (two male and two females) were raised in an individual cage for each replicate. The five experimental treatment diets consisted; negative control diet, with no Iron supplementation; positive control diet supplemented with 60 mg/kg of Fe3O4; treatment diets supplemented with 0.6, 6 and 60 mg/kg of L-cystein coated iron oxide nanoparticles. The hemoglobin, Red blood cell, mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, gonadal somatic index, daily sperm production, total testicular sperm and sperm viability of the male quails that were fed with diet supplemented by 0.6 mg/kg of Fe3O4-Cys NPs were improved as compare with negative control. This study showed that not only the use of the Fe3O4-Cys nanoparticles had no side effects but also it can be used as a feed additive to improve the reproductive performance in male quails.

Blood flow-improving activity of methyl jasmonate-treated adventitious roots of mountain ginseng

  • insenosides from Panax ginseng are well known for their diverse pharmacological effects including antithrombotic activity. Since adventitious roots of mountain ginseng (ARMG) also contain various ginsenosides, blood flow-improving effects of the dried powder and extract of ARMG were investigated. Rats were orally administered with dried powder (PARMG) or ethanol extract (EARMG) of ARMG (125, 250 or 500 mg/kg) or aspirin (30 mg/kg, a reference control) for 3 weeks. Forty min after the final administration, carotid arterial thrombosis was induced by applying a 70% $FeCl_3$-soaked filter paper outside the arterial wall for 5 min, and the blood flow was monitored with a laser Doppler probe. Both PARMG and EARMG delayed the $FeCl_3$-induced arterial occlusion in a dose-dependent manner, doubling the occlusion time at high doses. In mechanism studies, a high concentration of EARMG inhibited platelet aggregation induced by collagen in vitro. In addition, EARMG improved the blood lipid profiles, decreasing triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Although additional action mechanisms remain to be clarified, it is suggested that ARMG containing high amount of ginsenosides such as $Rg_3$ improves blood flow not only by inhibiting oxidative thrombosis, but also by modifying blood lipid profiles.

남항(Vitis romaneti) 유래 포도잎 추출물과 Resveratrol의 항산화 및 혈행개선 효과 (Effects of Antioxidant and Blood Flow Improvement of Grape Leaf Extract and Resveratrol from Vitis romaneti)

  • 본 연구에서 사용한 남항(Vitis romaneti)은 중국에 주로 분포하는 야생종으로 현재 개량하여 재배하고 있는 포도 품종이나, 그 기능에 대해서는 아직까지 알려지지 않았다. 그러므로 본 연구는 남항 포도 잎 추출물(VGLE)과 본 품종유래 지표물질인 resveratrol(VGLR)을 활용하여 AAPH로 유도된 적혈구 및 혈장의 산화적 손상에 대한 항산화 효과와 FeCl3로 유도된 경동맥 혈전 모델에서 혈행개선과 혈청학적 변화에 대한 효과를 조사하였다. 그 결과 VGLE 및 VGLR은 적혈구 및 혈장의 산화적 손상과 혈전을 억제함으로써 혈행을 개선할 수 있는 효과가 있었다. 특히 VGLR은 혈청학적으로 혈전모델에서 Normal군과 유사한 혈청학적 개선 효과를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 VGLE 및 VGLR은 항산화제로 사용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 혈행장애로 유발될 수 있는 심혈관계 및 뇌혈관계질환을 예방하거나 개선할 수 있는 물질이라는 것을 제시해주었다. 이와 관련된 VGLE 및 VGLR의 기능성에 대해서는 앞으로 분자생화학적 수준에서 더 연구해야 할 필요성이 있을 것으로 사료된다.

미니돼지의 신허혈-재관류에 의한 급성신손상 모델에서의 유용한 바이오마커 (Effective Biomarkers for Miniature Pig in Acute Kidney Injury Using Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Model)

  • 급성신손상은 높은 이환율과 치사율을 나타내는 심각한 질환이며, 허혈-재관류에 의한 신손상은 급성신손상의 중요한 원인이 된다. 본 연구는 미니돼지에서 급성신손상을 진단하는데 임상적으로 유용한 바이오마커를 찾아내기 위해 실시되었다. 세 마리의 미니돼지에서 60분간 신동맥을 결찰하여 양측성 신허혈을 유도하였다. 각 미니돼지에서 결찰 전, 결찰 후 0, 1, 3, 5일에 혈액 및 뇨 검체를 채취하였다. 혈청 및 뇨 검체에서 BUN, creatinine, 나트륨 및 요산을 측정한 후 나트륨 및 요산의 분획배설율($FE_{Na}$, $FE_{UA}$)을 산출하였다. 또한 IL-6, IL-18, L-FABA 및 GST를 Western immunoblotting을 실시하여 측정하였다. 결과에서 세 마리 미니돼지 모두 혈청 BUN과 creatinine 농도는 결찰 후 1일째에 유의적으로 증가하였다. 그러나 $FE_{Na}$$FE_{UA}$는 현저한 개체차를 보였다. 수술 전과 후를 비교했을 때 허혈 이후의 뇨 검체에서는 IL-6, IL-18, L-FABP 및 GST의 농도가 유의적으로 증가하였다. 결론적으로, $FE_{Na}$$FE_{UA}$에 대해서는 추가적인 연구가 필요하다고 생각되며, 혈청 BUN, creatinine과 뇨 IL-6, IL-18, L-FABP 및 GST는 돼지의 허혈-재관류 모델에서 다른 바이오마커와 함께 급성신손상을 진단하는 민감한 바이오마커가 될 수 있을 것이라 생각된다.

Effects of hot melt extrusion processed nano-iron on growth performance, blood composition, and iron bioavailability in weanling pigs

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of hot melt extrusion (HME) nano-iron as an alternative for the common ferrous sulfate on iron (Fe) bioavailability, growth performance, nutrient digestibility, intestinal morphology, and intestinal microbiota of weanling pigs. A total of 200 piglets (Landrace ${\times}$ Yorkshire ${\times}$ Duroc) were randomly allotted to seven treatments on the basis of initial body weight (BW) and sex. Treatments were the INO100 (100 ppm Fe as $FeSO_4$), HME-Fe levels (50, 75, and 100 ppm nano-Fe as $FeSO_4$). ORG100 (100 ppm Fe as iron methionine). In phase 1, the HME50 pigs showed the lowest Fe content in feed and feces. Plasma Fe concentration was increased in HME100 and ORG100 pigs. In phase 2, there were significantly lower concentration of Fe in feed and feces of HME50 pigs (p < 0.01). A lower Fe concentration in the plasma and liver were observed in HME50 pigs compared with HME100 pigs. Concentration of red blood cell (RBC) was the lowest (p < 0.01) for HME50 pigs. During phase 2, the HME100, HME75, and ORG100 pigs showed a higher RBC and hemoglobin values compared with HME50 pigs. Digestibility of gross energy (GE) and crude protein (CP) were significantly higher in HME100 pigs compared with HME50 pigs. There was an increased (p < 0.01) villus height in the duodenum and jejunum of HME100 pigs compared with HME50 pigs. It is concluded that dietary Fe does not improve growth performance of weanling pigs; however, increasing the dietary iron concentration in weanling piglets increased the RBC and hemoglobin. In addition, the potential ability of HME to be used at a lower level (HME75) was observed.

F344 rats를 이용 망간 및 철 화합물의 체내 흡수와 생식기 및 운동성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Mn and Fe Compound on the Absorption in the Body and Genital Organs, Activity with F344 Rats)

  • This study aimed to examine the harmful effects of Mn and Fe, which may be generated as dust or fume in the industrial sites, on the body and genital organs by their inhalation. It is intended to find the characteristics and differences of the hazardousness by inhaling a single and the mixed materials of Mn and Fe. Male F344 rats were divided into the control group and 3 exposed groups on the basis of the test material compound (Mn $1.5mg/m^3$, Mn 1.5 and Fe $3.0mg/m^3$, Fe $3.0mg/m^3$). The 4 groups were divided into 4 subgroups again on the basis of the exposure period (4 and 13 weeks) and the recovery period (4 and 13 weeks). The exposure condition was 6 hours a day, 5 days a week for the whole body. Clinical tests including changes in weight and feed rate, blood biochemical test, motility change, changes in the number and the amount of spermatozoon (sperm count), daily sperm production (DSP), deformity test of spermatozoon and changes in the accumulation of Mn and Fe in blood and internal organs were performed. Motility was reduced by Mn exposure. Especially, the effect of Mn was exposure period responsible. By mixing with Fe, no significant change in motility Mn and Fe accumulation in organs was observed. Sperm count and daily sperm production (DSP) were decreased by Mn. Additional effect like the reduction of sperm count and DSP, and delayed restoration of sperm count and DSP during the recovery period were observed in the mixed exposure group. These results indicate that Mn and Fe may affect the motility reduced and has male reproductive toxicity. Mixed exposure of Mn and Fe lead to synergic effects on the male reproductive toxicity.

카드뮴 오염 현미 섭취에 의한 랫드의 체내 중금속 축적 (Effect of Cadmium-contaminated Brown Rice Diet on Accumulation of Heavy Metal in Rats)

  • 본 연구는 중금속이 함유된 식이를 섭취 시 생체 내에서의 중금속 동태 및 함량을 구명하고자 Cd 오염 지역에서 생산된 현미를 첨가한 식이로 12주간 흰쥐를 사육하여 성장 특성과 혈액, 간 및 신장 조직의 Cd, Zn 및 Cu의 함량을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 식이에 따른 일일 증가체중은 BR 및 PBR 100% 식이 군에서 0.22-0.26 g/day이었고, FE식이 군은 1.08-1.26 g/day로 식이 원에 따른 체중변화 차이가 뚜렷하였다. 식이 내 중금속 일일 섭취량은 BR+PBR 50% 및 PBR 100% 군은 10.77 및 22.36 ${\mu}g/rat$ 이고, FE+PBR 50% 군은 8.83 ${\mu}g/rat$로 식이 중 Cd 농도에 따라 일일 Cd 섭취량이 증가 되었다. 12주간 섭취한 중금속은 전체적으로 식이 중 Cd 함량이 높아지면 이들 총 섭취량도 증가되었다. BR+PBR 50% 군 및 FE+PBR 50% 군의 간과 신장의 무게는 FE 식이 군에서 2.64배 및 2.27배 높은 무게를 나타냈다. 혈액 중 Cd 함량은 BR 식이 섭취량이 많을수록 증가되었고, Zn 및 Cu 함량은 감소되었다. 동일 Cd 농도 식이 군에서 FE+PBR 50% 군은 BR+PBR 50%로 조제한 식이군보다 혈액 중 Cd 함량이 1.27배 높았다. 간에서 BR, BR+PBR 50% 및 PBR 100% 식이 군은 Cd 농도가 높으면 간 중 Cd 함량이 증가되는 현상이 뚜렷하였다. 동일 수준 농도에서 BR+PBR 50% 및 FE+PBR 50%의 Cd 축적은 BR 식이가 높았다. 신장 중 BR, BR+PBR 50% 및 PBR 100% 식이 군에서 Cd 함량의 축적이 높아지면 신장 중 Zn 및 Cu 함량이 증가하였고, 식이군의 Cd 농도가 같은 수준에서 FE와 BR 첨가 차이는 BR 첨가식이 군이 FE로 조제한 식이군보다 3.11배가 높은 Cd 함량을 나타냈다. 이와 같은 결과는 오염된 식이의 섭취량과 Cd 농도 수준에 의존한 결과로서 Zn 및 Cu 함량과도 깊은 관계가 있음을 확인하였다.

용접 작업 중 발생하는 유해물질의 영향 (An Effect of Harmful Materials During Welding Work)

  • This study is about an influence of harmful factors of welding fumes such as Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn to workers who inhales them in welding sites. The influence can be measured with the density of heavy metals in blood after welding. The main factors of the measurement are TWA, a density of welding fume, and a level of heavy metals. The results indicate that there is a positive effect of moving fans as a way of improving the condition in welding workplaces. While welding was done, TWA exceeded the level of Fe 40% and Zn 10% and the level of heavy metals in blood was below the standard for the workers who were under the experiment. Also when the wind was applied on the front side by a fan, the welding fume significantly reduced. It can be concluded that wearing protection gears with safety devices is one of important factors.

Effect of Heat Stress on Minerals Concentration in Blood and Colostrum of Heifers Around Parturition

  • Sixteen holstein heifers were employed to study the effect of thermal stress on rectal temperature and mineral status of heifers around parturition during hot and cool weather. During the hot weather, rectal temperatures of the heifers measured at 08:30 and 15:30 h from 7 d prepartum to parturition were higher than those during the cool weather. Blood hematocrit and hemoglobin were not significantly different between the hot and cool weather, but at 2 and 1 wk prepartum, those during the hot weather were higher. Plasma Ca, inorganic P and Fe of the heifers during the hot weather were higher than those during the cool weather, but plasma Mg and Zn and serum alkaline phosphatase during the hot weather were lower. Colostral protein and Mg of heifers at parturition during the hot weather were lower than those during the cool weather, but colostral Ca, P, Fe and Zn were not affected by the weather.
