  • Blockchain and its infrastructure technology have expanded rapidly in the last decade and are in high demand, but there is a lack of comprehensive studies on those platforms. Blockchain is a new technology based on the distributed digital ledger system. Decentralized trust is one of the key factors behind the blockchain-based system. Transparency of such a system is better than a conventional centralized ledger system. By using a blockchain-based transaction system, any business organization can harness key benefits like data integrity, confidentiality, and anonymity without involving any third party in control of the transactions. Since the blockchain is used in numerous applications and the horizon is expanding at an unprecedented pace. So, there is a need for an introducing and reviewing of blockchain platforms. In this paper, we have reported a review on existing contemporary blockchain platforms. In particular, From the existing studies, we have identified eighty blockchain platforms and the majority of them have a lack of technical details. To provide the researchers a comprehensive introducing on blockchain platforms to perform a broad guideline for future research and investment in the blockchain domain.

  • Transportation of goods by rail in border areas requires considerable time, money, and human resources. Therefore, in this study, a blockchain-based non-stop passing system is proposed to solve this problem. In this study, each transit station and train are designated as one network node, and the corresponding node participates in the blockchain network to record and verify data. In the process, we will design a blockchain network using Docker and design a network interface. Without changing the data and information generated in the existing legacy clearance system, it is possible to configure a blockchain network to ensure the integrity and reliability of the data and to minimize the consumption of time and human resources. The railroad non-stop passing system aims to change the existing legacy system to a blockchain-based non-stop passing system.

  • When blockchain technology, which shows various applicability, is utilized as a component of a database system, the characteristics of open verification and integrity/transparency of blockchain technology can bring new functionalities or enhanced results to the existing database system. However, when applying this blockchain technology to a database system, the cost versus expected effect in various performance perspectives must be evaluated. These costs include execution time and required storage space, and the performance of the converged system may vary in analysis method depending on the configuration method of the characteristics of the blockchain. This paper aims to propose an analysis model for the entire architecture by considering aspects that are not considered in the performance analysis models of database systems and the unique characteristics of blockchains. In doing so, we are trying to build a theoretical framework as an important conceptual technique that should be considered in the evaluation process of the performance results that can be obtained through the utilization of blockchain components in database systems. What we hope is that this work is expected to provide a useful foundation for researchers interested in the convergence of database systems and blockchain technology in order to construct a system with new future functionalities.

  • As the participation of blockchain increases, governance to maintain the ecosystem is being activated. Governance must be managed/supervised to maintain and improve the blockchain. However, as the usage of blockchain increases, there is a limit for people to manage it individually. In addition, smart contracts applied from Ethereum need to be verified for trade that are determined according to status values, as new trade types are possible. This research proposes a surveillance system, Blockchain Watchdog, based on the state monitoring of the blockchain smart contract as a tool for maintaining and developing the blockchain ecosystem of governance, and implemented and tested the surveillance system. As a case study, we conducted experiments on Ropsten and Ganache, and were able to see real-time information collection and visualization using dashboards, graphs, and charts. We expect to contribute to the maintenance and development of the ecosystem of blockchain governance through Blockchain Watchdog.

  • Blockchain has tamper-free, so many applications are developing to leverage tamper-free features of blockchain. MIT Media Labs proposed BlockCerts, educational certificate blockchain System, to solve problems of legacy certificate verifications. Existing educational certificate blockchain Systems are based on public blockchain such as bitcoin, Ethereum, so any entity can participate educational institute in principal. Moreover, the exisitng educational certricate blockchain system utilizes the integrity of blockchain, but the confidentiality of the educational certificate is not provided. This paper propose a digital certificate system based on private blockchain, name HyperCerts. Therefore, only trusted entity can participate in the private blockchain network, Hyperledger, as the issuer of digital certificate. Furthermore, the practical byzantine fault tolerance is used as consensus algorithm, HyperCerts reduce dramatically the latency of issuing digital certificate and required computing power. HyperCerts stores the hash value of digital certificate into the ledger, so breach of personal information by malicious entity in the private blockchain is protected.

  • Farmers E-Market is a website that allows agricultural workers to direct market their products to buyers without the use of a middleman. That theory is blockchain system will be used by authors to accomplish this. The system, which is built on a public blockchain system, supports sustainability, shippers, and consumers. Farmers can keep track of their farming activities. Customers can review the product's history and track its journey through carriers to delivery after making a purchase. Farmers are encouraged to get information about their interests promptly in a blockchain-enabled system like this. This functionality is being used by small-scale farmers to form groups based on their location to attract large-scale customers, renegotiate farming techniques or volumes, and enter into contracts with buyers. The analysis shows the use of blockchain technology with a farmer's portal that keeps the video of trading data of crops, taking into account the qualities of blockchain such as values and create or transaction data. The proposal merges python as a programming language with a blockchain system to benefit farmers, vendors, and individuals by preserving transactions.

  • As 4th industrial revolution has emerged as a hot topic, the blockchain technology capable of enabling super intelligence as a premiere has been an attracting attention. With the interest in blockchains, various platforms using blockchains are emerging. Reflecting this trend, several countries including US, EU, China, and Japan are preparing blockchain and related laws or amending existing laws. In Korea, the platform business based on blockchain is being done, but the related laws are insufficient. In this study, we first present the legal system of the blockchain, examine each component, and then compare the current state of the legal system in US, EU, China, and Japan based on the blockchain legal system. Finally, we propose a brief improvement plan of the legal system for industrial development by commercialization of blockchain. In the future, we would like to study the individual legal system about the blockchain.

  • Recently the blockchain technology has been actively studied due to its great potentiality. The smart contract is a key mechanism of the blockchain system. Due to the short history of the smart contract, many issues have not been solved yet. One main issue is vulnerability and another main issue is cost optimization. While the vulnerability of smart contract has been actively studied, the cost optimization has been rarely studied. In this paper, we propose two cost optimization methods for smart contracts running on the blockchain system. Triggering a function in a smart contract program code may require costs and it is repeated continuously. So the minimization of costs required to trigger a function of smart contract while maintaining the performance equally is very important. The proposed two methods minimize the usage of expensive permanent variables deployed on the blockchain system. We apply the proposed two methods to three prevalent blockchain platforms: Ethereum, Klaytn and Tron. Evaluation experiments verify that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the costs of functions in the smart contract written with Solidity.

  • The evolution of blockchain-based systems has enabled researchers to develop nextgeneration e-voting systems. However, the classical consensus method of blockchain, that is, Proof-of-Work, as implemented in Bitcoin, has a significant impact on energy consumption and compromises the scalability, efficiency, and latency of the system. In this paper, we propose a hybrid consensus model (PSC-Bchain) composed of Proof of Credibility and Proof of Stake that work mutually to address the aforementioned problems to secure e-voting systems. Smart contracts are used to provide a trustworthy public bulletin board and a secure computing environment to ensure the accuracy of the ballot outcome. We combine a sharding mechanism with the PSC-Bchain hybrid approach to emphasize security, thus enhancing the scalability and performance of the blockchain-based e-voting system. Furthermore, we compare and discuss the execution of attacks on the classical blockchain and our proposed hybrid blockchain, and analyze the security. Our experiments yielded new observations on the overall security, performance, and scalability of blockchain-based e-voting systems.
