Polyepichlorohydrin rubber was treated with sodium azide (Na$N_3$) to replace its chlorine by azide ($N_3$). Then, the azidated polyepichlorohydrin rubber (Az-PECH) was blended with thermoplastic styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer with the rubber/plastic ratio of 80/20, 70/30 and 60/40 (wt/wt). The miscibility, mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties as well as elastic recovery properties of the blends were evaluated by DMA (Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer) and tensile tests. When azidation level in azidated PECH was upto 50%, the blends exhibited excellent miscibility, manifested by a single $T_g$, and fairly good elastic recovery. When azidation level was 75%, the blends showed phase separation. The miscible Az-PECH/SAN blends exhibited typical thermoplastic elastomer like properties, ie. melt processibility and high extensibility as well as good elastic recovery rate. It was also observed from combustion test that higher energy is released with the increase in the azidation level of the Az-PECH in the blends.
This paper presents an investigation of the mechanical and microstructural properties on hardened samples that were synthesized using blended binder(fly ash(FA) and blast furnace slag cement(BFSC)), alkali activator and sea water or distilled water. Binders were prepared by mixing the FA and BFSC in different blend weight ratios of 6:4, 7:3 and 8:2. Sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate were used 5 wt% of binder, respectively, as an alkaline activator. The compressive strength and absorption were measured at the age of 3, 7 and 28 days, and the XRD, TGA and MIP tests were performed at the age of 28 days. An increase in the content of BFSC leads to an increase in the quantities of ettringite and C-S-H formed, regardless of the type of mixing water. And it also shows higher strength due to the reduction of pores larger than ~50 nm. All hardened samples in this study have common hydration products of C-S-H, $Ca(OH)_2$ and calcite. Hydrocalumite of all reaction products formed was only present in hardened sample mixed with sea water. For each FA/BFSC mixing ratio, the compressive strength of hardened sample mixed with sea water was similar to that mixed with distilled water. It is proposed that the slight increase of strength of samples mixed with sea water is mainly due to the presence of hydrocalumite phase containing chlorine ion, contributing to the change of total porosity and pore size distribution in samples.
Alternating copolymers, poly[9-(2-octyl-dodecyl)-9H-carbazole-alt-4,7-di-thiophen-2-yl-benzo[1,2,5]thiadiazole] (PCD20TBT) and poly[9,10-bis-(2-octyl-dodecyloxy)-phenanthrene-alt-4,7-di-thiophen-2-yl-benzo[1,2,5]thiadiazole] (PN40TBT), were synthesized by the Suzuki coupling reaction. The copolymers were soluble in common organic solvents such as chloroform, chlorobenzene, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, tetrahydrofuran and toluene. The maximum absorption wavelength and the band gap of PCD20TBT were 535 nm and 1.75 eV, respectively. The maximum absorption wavelength and the band gap of PN40TBT were 560 nm and 1.97 eV, respectively. The HOMO and the LUMO energy level of PCD20TBT were -5.11 eV and -3.36 eV, respectively. As for PN40TBT, the HOMO and the LUMO energy level of PCD20TBT were -5.31 eV and -3.34 eV, respectively. The polymer solar cells (PSCs) based on the blend of copolymer and PCBM (1 : 2 by weight ratio) were fabricated. The power conversion efficiencies of PSCs based on PCD20TBT and PN40TBT were 0.52% and 0.60%, respectively. The short circuit current density ($J_{SC}$), fill factor (FF) and open circuit voltage ($V_{OC}$) of the device with PCD20TBT were $-1.97mA/cm^2$, 38.2% and 0.69 V. For PN40TBT, the $J_{SC}$, FF, and $V_{OC}$ were $-1.77mA/cm^2$, 42.9%, and 0.79 V, respectively.
In this study, we developed mixed matrix membranes by blending thermoplastic elastomer, i.e. polystyreneblock-polybutadiene-block-polystyrene (SBS) block copolymer with the synthesized UiO-66 particles for CO2/N2 gas separation. To investigate the effect of UiO-66 particles in the SBS matrix, we prepared different mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) by varying the mass ratio of SBS and UiO-66 in the blend. To fabricate well-dispersed UiO-66, the SBS/UiO-66 mixture was sonicated and stirred thoroughly. The physico-chemical properties of prepared membranes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The gas separation performance was measured by time-lag method. The permeability of the MMMs increased significantly as the content of UiO-66 increased, but the CO2/N2 selectivity did not decrease significantly. The membranes containing 20% of UiO-66 particles showed the best performance with the CO2 permeability and CO2/N2 selectivity of 663.8 barrer and 13.3, respectively. This result showed performance closer to upper bound than pure SBS membrane in the Robeson plot, as the added UiO-66 particles did not significantly sacrifice selectivity and more than doubled gas permeability.
Trans free margarine stock (TFMS) was produced by lipase-catalyzed synthesis of fully hydrogenated soybean oil (FHSBO), avocado oil (AO) and palm oil (PO). A blend of FHSBO, AO, and PO with a 1:5:4 (30:150:120 g, respectively) ratio was interesterified with lipozyme RM IM(from Rhizomucor miehei) in a 1 L-batch type reactor at 65 for 12 hr, and the physicochemical and melting properties of TFMS were compared with commercial margarine. The solid fat content (%) of the TFMS was analyzed at 25, 30, and $35^{\circ}C$, respectively, while its melting point was $37.8^{\circ}C$. The trans fatty acid content of the TFMS was below 0.1%. It also had acid, saponification, and iodine values of 0.4, 173.9, and 58.6, respectively. In HPLC chromatograms of the TFMS, newly synthesized peaks of triacylglycerol molecules were observed by using reverse-phase HPLC with evaporative light-scattering detection. Normal-phase HPLC with UV detection was used to quantify tocopherols in the TFMS, indicating that its ${\alpha}-$, ${\gamma}-$ and ${\delta}$-tocopherol contents were 5.7, 2.1, and 1.7 mg/100 g, respectively.
A 4×2 factorial feeding trial was designed to investigate the effect of replacing soybean meal (SBM) with cottonseed meal (CSM) in wheat/sorghum/SBM-based diets fed with or without microbial enzymes in diets on the performance, visceral organ development and digestibility of nutrients of broiler chickens. Four graded levels of CSM - none (0%), low (4%, 8%, and 12%), medium (5%, 10%, and 15%), and high (6%, 12%, and 18%) of complete diets in starter, grower and finisher, respectively were fed with or without 100 mg/kg of xylanase and β-glucanase blend. Eight isocaloric and isonitrogenous diets were formulated using least-cost method to meet the nutrient specifications of Ross 308 male broilers. Each treatment was randomly assigned to 6 replicates (10 birds per replicate). There were CSM-enzyme interactions (p < 0.05) on feed intake (FI) and weight gain (WG) in the starter phase. Enzyme supplementation improved (p < 0.05) feed conversion ratio (FCR) in the grower and finisher phases, and increased WG in growing and finishing birds. CSM inclusion reduced (p < 0.05) the weight of gizzard and proventriculus in starter chicks, while these organs were bigger (p < 0.05) in the grower phase. The test ingredient decreased (p < 0.05) small intestinal weight in starter and grower birds. The CSM increased the absolute weight of thighs (p < 0.05) while breast meat was increased (p < 0.01) by enzyme addition. Starch digestibility was improved (p < 0.01) by enzyme inclusion and decreased (p < 0.01) by CSM. Enzyme supplementation improved (p < 0.05) the ileal digestibility of gross energy and protein. The results demonstrate that CSM can substitute up to 90% SBM in broiler chicken diets without compromising performance, and the nutritive value of CSM-containing diets can effectively be improved by enzyme supplementation.
This study was aimed to develop blend films by rice by-product (rice-hull and rice-bran) and bio-degradable materials. The rice by-product was firstly prepared from the pulverizing for making fine powder. Bio-degradable materials could be prepared by melting at high temperature. The mixture of the fine powder of rice by-product and melted bio-degradable materials was then blended and cast into films. The obtained films were investigated on their morphology, secondary structures and properties by using SEM, ICP and ASTM, respectively. Mechanical properties and degradability of these films were measured and compared to those of the PE films. Mechanical strength of bio-films was higher than that of PE films, however elongation ratio showed lower percent than that of PE film. In addition, bio-film could be degraded into fragments within 3 months under the field condition of normal upland crop cultivation. Bio-degradable mulching film indicated great potential for agronomic use as a new source of bio-degradable material.

This paper presents an investigation of the mechanical properties on non-sintered cement pastes immersed in sea waters at three different temperatures. The non-sintered cement pastes were synthesized using blended binder(Class F fly ash; FA and ground granulated blast furnace slag; GGBFS) and alkali activator(sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate). Binders were prepared by mixing the FA and GGBFS in different blend weight ratios of 6:4, 7:3 and 8:2. The alkali activators were used 5wt% of blended binder, respectively. Calcium carbonate was used as an chemical additive. The compressive strength, bulk density and absorption of alkali-activated FA-GGBFS blends pastes were measured at 3 and 28 days after immersed in sea waters at three different temperatures($5^{\circ}C$, $15^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$). The XRD and SEM tests of the pastes were conducted at 28 days. Water-soluble chloride(free chloride) and acid-soluble chloride(total chloride) contents in the pastes were also measured after 28 days immersion in sea water. The experimental results showed that increasing the content of FA in alkali-activated FA-GGBFS blends pastes immersed in sea water increases the absorption, water-soluble chloride content and acid-soluble chloride content, and reduces the compressive strength and bulk density. And it was found that there was a variation of strength change for the alkali-activated FA-GGBFS blends pastes immersed in sea waters at three different temperatures that depends on the blending ratio of FA and GGBFS.
This study was aimed at analyzing NOx conversion characteristics in the HC-SCR with biodiesel content changes of the secondary fuel injection (BD0, BD10, BD25). Test conditions for temperature were set to $290^{\circ}C$, $320^{\circ}C$ and $350^{\circ}C$ considering the upstream temperature of a HC-SCR, distillation of the secondary injected fuels and etc. The amount of fuel injection was adjusted with a fixed space velocity of 55,000(1/h). According to the test results of distillation, the T90 was the same level about $350^{\circ}C$ on all test fuels and the amount of evaporation was reduced at lower than $350^{\circ}C$ temperature condition with increasing biodiesel content. As biodiesel content which is mixed with the secondary injected fuel is increased, NOx reduction efficiency was determined to decrease. The difference of the Nox reduction ratio in a high temperature condition($320^{\circ}C$ and $350^{\circ}C$) than the low temperature($290^{\circ}C$) was more significant. These results are thought to be poor evaporation properties (distillation) and high molecular weight of the biodiesel.

Aromatic and aliphatic copolyesters for the dispersing agent were synthesized by two stage reaction, esterification and polycondensation. Copolyesters were blended with PET in the melt state and their thermal and rheological properties were investigated. From GPC analysis Mn's and Mw's of copolyesters were about 30000 and 65000g/mol, respectively. From DSC experiment copolyesters had melting range of $90{\sim}150^{\circ}C$. Copolymer composition was in good agreement with comonomer feed ratio from $^1H$-NMR analysis. Copolyesters and SPA (standard sample) were blended with PET in the melt state. From DSC experiment, copolyesters and SPA were miscible with PET. From the dynamic melt viscosity experiment, melt viscosity of blended sample was increased as the content of aromatic copolyester was increased, while it was decreased as the content of aliphatic and SPA were increased. As for volume resistivity of dry color containing carbon black and copolyesters with dispersing time, aromatic copolyester showed highest value. It was conferred from this result that aromatic copolyester was the best dispersing agent for carbon black in PET resin.
