  • New Korean lumbricids are described: Eisenia gaga Blakemore sp. nov. from remote Gageodo Island and E. sindo Blakemore, sp. nov. from an island at Incheon. Both are comparable to Eisenia koreana (Zicsi, 1972) from near Pyongyang, North Korea. A remarkable yet previously unrecognized similarity to American earthworm Eisenoides carolinensis (Michaelsen, 1910) is discussed, but synonymy is rejected on tenuous morphological grounds (form of nephridial vesicle bladders) with taxonomy supported by objective molecular data (mtDNA cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 barcodes).

  • The primitive beachflea, Paciforchestia pyatakovi (Derzhavin, 1937) living in gravel beaches was previously reported only from Japan and Russia. This species can be easily distinguished from another species in the same genus, P. klawei (Bousfield, 1961), by the degradation of all plepods and both rami that each consist of single article bearing 2-4 distal plumose setae. Descriptions of the diagnostic characteristics of the species are presented.

  • The zoeal stages of Pisidia serratifrons are described and illustrated for the first time and its morphological characteristics are compared with those of three known Pisidia species of the family Porcellanidae. The zoea of P. serratifrons differs from those of other Pisidia (P. brasiliensis, P. dispar, and P. dehaanii), by having 11 spinules on the exopod of the antenna. In order to facilitate the study of plankton-collected material, a provisional key is provided for identification of the Korean porcellanid zoeae.

  • The alpheid shrimps collected from Jejudo Island turned out to be a species belonging to the genus Prionalpheus which is an unreported genus from Korean waters. In this paper, Prionalpheus sulu is reported for the first time from Korean waters with description and illustration.

  • The specimens of Peregrinamor ohshimai, an ecto-commensal species to Upogebia major, were collected from the mudflat of Chilcheondo Is., Geoje-si, Gyungsangnam-do, Korea and diagnostic characters of P. ohshimai were analyzed. The genus Peregrinamor is reported in Korean fauna for the first time.

  • The genus Sciasmomyia (Diptera: Lauxaniidae) was discovered for the first time in Korea. This Old World (PA and OR) genus currently includes two nominal species. In the process of revising Korean Lauxaniidae, we were able to collect Korean representatives of Sciasmomyia supraorientalis, and provide the redescriptions and illustrations of both sexes.

  • Two new species of the genus Nesodillo Verhoeff, 1926, N. kimi and N. philippinensis, are described from Philippines. For the shape of frontal shield, Nesodillo kimi resembles N. monticola (Vandel, 1973) from New Guinea, but differs from it in the shape of male pleopod 1 exopod. N. philippinensis is distinguished from N. kimi by the shape of frontal shield not depressed in the middle of upper border, and of telson with broadly rounded distal margin.

  • A new marine sponge in the family Microcionidae, Ophlitaspongia yongjeongensis n. sp. is collected from Yongjeong-ri, Hyeongyeong-myeon, Muan-gun, Korea during 2005-2007. O. yongjeongensis n. sp. is closely related to O. reticulata in growth form (shape and color). However, the thick style and slender style of O. yongjeongensis n. sp. are larger than O. reticulata's (Bergquist and Fromont, 1988).

  • We here report Apocorophium acutum (Chevreux, 1908) with description and illustrations for the first time in Korea. Specimens of present study show morphological differences in ventral processes of peduncular segment 5 of antenna 2 with the same species from Europe and Atlantic coast of North America.

  • A female crab of Xenocarcinus conicus (A. Milne Edwards, 1865) was collected from Munseum, Jejudo Island. The genus Xenocarcinus is recorded newly in Korean brachyuran fauna. The present specimen has broader and shorter rostrum and eleven sharp teeth on the inner border of dactylus of the first ambulatory leg. Korean epialtid fauna now consists of eight species of four genera.
