The Effect of Cafe Atmosphere on Purchase Decision: Empirical Evidence from Generation Z in Indonesia

  • In Indonesia, coffee shops, commonly called warung or kedai shops, have begun to appear amid society from remote villages to urban centers. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the effect of cafe atmosphere (i.e., exterior, interior, interior point-of-purchase displays and store layout) on the purchase decision of Generation Z. This study is conducted because of cafe competition is currently overgrowing. This study model consisted of five variables: exterior, interior, interior point-of-purchase displays, store layout, and purchase decision. Sampling in this study used non-probability, with a purposive sampling technique. According to predetermined criteria, the data collection technique employed a questionnaire distributed online to consumers had visited a cafe at least once in the last three months. This study's sample was 137 cafe visitors in Yogyakarta, representing one of the big cities in Indonesia. Therefore, the data was analyzed by using multiple regression. The results of the study indicated that the exterior and interior had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decision. Likewise, interior point-of-purchase displays and store layout positively and significantly affected purchase decision. In addition, this study's findings generally concluded that the cafe atmosphere had a positive and significant effect on purchase decision.

  • The purpose of this study is to maintain the existing characteristics of the city by utilizing the physical decline status and floating population in small and medium cities residential areas. In addition, it intends to present the direction of flexible urban regeneration and maintenance by reflecting regional characteristics and current status. A total of three data were used in this study. Building data, floating population data, and census output area data were used. Building data and floating population data were classified into five classes. The graded data were joined to the census output area data and analyzed by overlapping the two data. As a result of analysis of 17 residential areas in 5 small and medium cities in Jeollanam-do, 4 types, 2 management models, and 4 indicators could be presented by grade and regional characteristics. This study is meaningful in that it is possible to plan regionally customized urban regeneration/maintenance management plans and projects through the typology of the current status and characteristics of the region, which is an important step in the bottom-up form.

Too Big to Fail: Succession Challenge in Large Family Businesses

  • This study investigated the main concerns and strategies in Indonesian large family businesses to undertake intergenerational succession effectively. The research data was obtained to shed light on the incumbents' mindsets, key preferences, and experiences during the succession process. Access to incumbents of large family businesses that are conglomerates is scant. The preceding survey research was conducted to sensitize with the intricacy of the intergenerational succession process in large family businesses before entailing interpretative phenomenology analysis of qualitative data from interviews, observations, and field notes by approaching family members in five conglomerate groups that have major impacts on the economy. The findings explicate the incumbents' preferred criteria in choosing their successors as well as their perceived concerns revolving around the appointment. Additionally, the incumbents' succession approaches such as apprentice learning by successors, adaptability to external forces by successors, nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit in successors, governance establishment in the firms, business interest stimulation in successors, role modeling by incumbents, and collaboration between family and key non-family members are elicited during the intergenerational succession process. This study concluded with noteworthy implications for incumbents and successors in large family businesses, especially providing explicit criteria and strategies to appoint suitable successors, and suggesting potential avenues for future research.

Exploring Working Group's Psychological Subjectivity on Public Smart Work Services in a Cloud-based Social Networking

  • Recently, the COVID 19 pandemic has affected on our daily lives and society in many ways. Specifically, it has brought rapid changes in the working environment from office working to smart telecommuting. In addition, cloud computing technology and services not only provided ubiquitous access, but also led to a sharing of information, internal-external communication channels, telework, and innovative smart work for the business process. As a result, smart work services based on social cloud networking have spread to the public sector. However, existing academic research examining smart work merely remains to focus on the theoretical conceptualization or to deal with merely several examples of private views. Best practices of smart work services based on cloud computing technology in the public field rarely exists. Moreover, many studies have been differently measured the values of smart work for private and public sectors depending on organizational singularities. Therefore, the study aims to define new theoretical implications and to explore future business strategies and policy directions based on a technical working group's personal psychological subjectivity. The research applied Q methodology, and selected five public organizations in Korea, that they have adopted or currently plan to adopt some part of smart work services.

패션브랜드 판매원의 내적특성이 판매 중심직무에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Effects of the Internal Characteristics of Fashion Brand Salespeople on Core Sales Tasks)

  • The purpose of this study was to reveal the effects of internal characteristics, such as fashion involvement, personality characteristics, and customer orientation of fashion brand salespeople on the core sales tasks, and how the core sales tasks and internal characteristics differ depending on differences in the way salespeople are remunerated. The data were collected as a questionnaire to fashion brand salespeople in Gwangju from September to October 2020. Using 235 responses, the data were analyzed with SPSS 21.0 for frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, factor analysis, and regression analysis. The research results were as follows. First, fashion involvement comprises factors such as 'fashion passion and sense'and 'fashion trend interest', and the greater the 'fashion passion and sense', the better the 'sales management'and 'customer relationship management'jobs. Second, 'esthetic openness', 'responsibility' and 'extroversion' of the big five personality characteristics have a positive impact on 'sales management' and 'customer relationship management' tasks. Third, customer orientation comprises factors such as 'customer-centric understanding'and 'gain customer trust', the greater the customer-orientation, the better the 'sales management'and 'customer relationship management'tasks. Fourth, according to the position of the salesperson, the group of professional salespeople at manager level had high responses in core sales tasks, fashion involvement, customer orientation, and characteristics such as 'agreeableness', 'esthetic openness', and 'responsibility'.

청소년의 안전교육 필요성에 대한 인식이 소방안전의식에 미치는 영향: 성격요인의 조절효과 (Effects of Adolescents' Perception of the Need for Safety Education on Fire Safety Awareness: The Control Effect of Personality Factors)

  • This study attempted to explore how the perception of the necessity of safety education for adolescents affects fire safety consciousness and whether personality factors control the relationship. To this end, a survey was conducted at a high school in region C, and data of 1,049 people who agreed to the survey and responded faithfully were used for analysis. Hayes' macro was used to analyze the moderating effect, and as a result of the analysis, adolescents' awareness of the need for safety education increased, and their relationship was significantly regulated by extroversion, openness, and conscientiousness among the five personality factors. A simple regression line analysis was conducted to find out the specific direction, and it was found that the higher the need for safety education in both the group with high extroversion, openness, and conscientiousness, the higher the awareness of safety education. These results suggest that changes in educational methods and contents are needed to raise awareness of the necessity of education in fire safety education and to improve educational motivation, and that it may be helpful to actively utilize students' personality strengths in education.

Personality Traits versus Public Service Motivation: Motive Distribution of Vietnamese Generation Z

  • Purpose: Public sector is usually not an attractive career choice for the youths, due to the uncompetitive income and the working environment. Therefore, understanding the motivations of the Generation Z, the currently early-career employees, to work in the public sector is important. This research aims to address a gap in the literature on the linkage between Personality Traits of Generation Z and Public Service Motivation (PSM). Research Design, Data, and Methodology: Using the sample of Vietnamese generation Z, it shows how individual personality, as defined by the Big Five, affects PSM. A quantitative survey of 355 university students, who are members of this generation and are preparing to join the labor market, was undertaken. We used SEM to examine the results. Results: Our findings show that Agreeableness, Neuroticism, and Conscientiousness are significant antecedents of PSM. Agreeableness, which leads to three PSM dimensions, namely Compassion, Self-Sacrifice, and Commitment to Public Values, is the best predictor of this motivation. Meanwhile, Neuroticism and Conscientiousness only affect the dimension of Compassion. Conclusion: This study adds to the limited current knowledge on the personality-PSM relationship among generation Z. The distribution of affective (Compassion, Self-Sacrifice) and norm-based (Commitment to Public Values) motives provide insight for both career counselors and recruiters in public service delivery.

정밀의료 병원정보시스템(P-HIS) 정보보호모델 개선 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Information Security Model for Precision Medicine Hospital Information System(P-HIS))

  • 개인 건강정보, 유전자정보, 임상정보 등을 활용한 정밀의료(Precision Medicine)는 차세대 의료산업으로 성장하고 있다. 국내에는 의료기관과 정보통신 기업이 협력하여 지난 5년간 약 90여개 1차 의료기관을 대상으로 클라우드 기반 정밀의료 병원정보시스템(P-HIS)을 보급하였으며, 향후 4년간 1·2차 의료기관을 중심으로 보급 및 확산을 진행하고 있다. 정밀의료는 사람의 건강과 생명에 직결되기 때문에 정보보호 및 보건의료정보 보호 문제가 매우 중요하다. 이에 따라, 본 논문에서는 클라우드 기반의 정밀의료 병원정보시스템에서 활용 가능한 정보보호 모델의 선행연구 분석을 통하여 최종적으로 정밀의료 병원정보시스템(P-HIS)의 정보보호 개선 방안을 연구 제안한다.

  • In this study, we embark on a journey to uncover the essence of emotions by exploring the depths of transfer learning on three pre-trained transformer models. Our quest to classify five emotions culminates in discovering the KLUE (Korean Language Understanding Evaluation)-BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) model, which is the most exceptional among its peers. Our analysis of F1 scores attests to its superior learning and generalization abilities on the experimental data. To delve deeper into the mystery behind its success, we employ the powerful SHAP (Shapley Additive Explanations) method to unravel the intricacies of the KLUE-BERT model. The findings of our investigation are presented with a mesmerizing text plot visualization, which serves as a window into the model's soul. This approach enables us to grasp the impact of individual tokens on emotion classification and provides irrefutable, visually appealing evidence to support the predictions of the KLUE-BERT model.

  • The purpose of this study was to characterize the upper body shape of men in their 50s and 60s by analyzing direct measurement data. Sixty one direct measurement items were analyzed. Subjects (n = 752) were classified based on 5 factors into 4 body types. In order to acquire accurate upper body shape information by analyzing body type using the 8th Size Korea direct measurement data, body shapes were classified through factor and cluster analysis. As a result of the comparative analysis of the upper body measurements from the 5th to the 8th Size Korea measurement, it was found that waist circumference item tended to increase significantly from the 5th Size Korea measurements. The upper body type of middle aged males were classified using five factors: the trunk obesity factor, the trunk vertical factor, the width of the back shoulder, the vertical factor behind the back, and the length factor of the upper body. Middle-aged men were classified into four body types through cluster analysis. Type 1 is relatively short with big arms, Type 2 has wide shoulders and thin arms, and in Type 3, the upper body is relatively long. Type 4 is the most obese upper body.
