  • This study describes an approach for comparative bibliometric analysis of scientific publications related to (i) individual or several departments comprising a university, and (ii) broader integrated subject areas using multiple disciplinary schemes. It uses a custom dataset of scientific publications (ca. 15,000 articles and reviews, published during 2009-2013, and recorded in the Web of Science Core Collections) with author affiliations to the research departments, dedicated to science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM), of a comprehensive university. The dataset was subjected, at first, to the department level and discipline level analyses using the newly available KAKEN-L3 classification (based on MEXT/JSPS Grants-in-Aid system), hierarchical clustering, correspondence analysis to decipher the major departmental and disciplinary clusters, and visualization of the department-discipline relationships using two-dimensional stacked bar diagrams. The next step involved the creation of subsets covering integrated subject areas and a comparative analysis of departmental contributions to a specific area (medical, health and life science) using several disciplinary schemes: Essential Science Indicators (ESI) 22 research fields, SCOPUS 27 subject areas, OECD Frascati 38 subordinate research fields, and KAKEN-L3 66 subject categories. To illustrate the effective use of the science mapping techniques, the same subset for medical, health and life science area was subjected to network analyses for co-occurrences of keywords, bibliographic coupling of the publication sources, and co-citation of sources in the reference lists. The science mapping approach demonstrates the ways to extract information on the prolific research themes, the most frequently used journals for publishing research findings, and the knowledge base underlying the research activities covered by the publications concerned.

  • For any research study, in order to achieve the researcher's intended purpose, the depth of research is added, and the area of the subject is expanded by clearly defining the scope and objective. The study was undertaken to analyze the bibliographic data of 254 papers in the field of foodservice and restaurant published in the Journal of the Korean Dietary Culture from 2002 to 2021. The study was divided into two periods: 2002 to 2011, and 2012 to 2021. Research topics were derived and research trends according to temporal changes were confirmed through analysis of keyword networks by period. In addition, analyzing the keyword network of simultaneous appearance of "foodservice" and "restaurant", the research topics were compared and analyzed in relation to which keywords were expanded by period. Our analysis revealed that the research topics were mostly studied for satisfaction and nutrition. Additionally, they were classified into procurement, Korean food before employee menu, marketing, restaurant industry, and quality. In the period from 2002 to 2011, it was confirmed that studies encompassed a wide range of research topics, focusing on foodservice and restaurant; in the second period from 2012 to 2021, the research topics were more classified and subdivided.

  • This study aimed to understand the driver change of recent research in relation to rural and migrant and draw overarching issues as well as to provide implications to contribute to migrants' social integration in Korean rural areas. As for the scope and method of the study, data through quantitative bibliographic analysis (quantitative data) and research keywords by period were derived. To address the aim this study employed bibliometric analysis utilising netwok mapping interface analysis by VOSviewer and topic modeling analysis by Netminer. The findings were revealed that firstly mental health issues in abroad research and employment and discrimination in domestic research both derived from migrant mobility constituted staple key issues, secondly internal and external research differed two issues in health and violence where Korea has overlooked the issues seriously. Therefore this study presented implications which are about first, health and violence-related sections for migrants should be specified into domestic law, second domestic-focused MIPEX index should be developed in which the two issues are over-weighted and last such newly emerging approach 'inclusive formation of social psychological mechanisms should be widely spread. Concluding remark is that delivering the implications can be foster to migrants' integration in rural area underlining that this will ultimately contribute to migrants' quality of life.

  • As the usage of information resources produced in various media and forms has been increased, the importance of metadata as a tool of information organization to describe the information resources becomes increasingly crucial. The purposes of this study are to analyze and to demonstrate the intellectual structure in the field of metadata through co-word analysis. The data set was collected from the journals which were registered in the Core collection of Web of Science citation database during the period from January 1, 1998 to July 8, 2016. Among them, the bibliographic data from 727 journals was collected using Topic category search with the query word 'metadata'. From 727 journal articles, 410 journals with author keywords were selected and after data preprocessing, 1,137 author keywords were extracted. Finally, a total of 37 final keywords which had more than 6 frequency were selected for analysis. In order to demonstrate the intellectual structure of metadata field, network analysis was conducted. As a result, 2 domains and 9 clusters were derived, and intellectual relations among keywords from metadata field were visualized, and proposed keywords with high global centrality and local centrality. Six clusters from cluster analysis were shown in the map of multidimensional scaling, and the knowledge structure was proposed based on the correlations among each keywords. The results of this study are expected to help to understand the intellectual structure of metadata field through visualization and to guide directions in new approaches of metadata related studies.

  • An autonomous vehicle is a convergence of artificial intelligence and a vehicle which can drive itself while analyzing the real-time situation on a road without a driver. A lot of research achievements have been revealed through the media and Google is considered to be the best leading company in this field. The use of patent information which contains various information such as bibliographic data and information about technologies is a good way to find out the R&D direction of a company and develop a reasonable strategy. This study is aimed at investigating the direction to which Google focuses its R&D capabilities and establishing strategies for technology development. Google's patents about autonomous vehicles were collected and the degree of research bias was analyzed using Social Network Analysis based on citations indicating the quality of a patent. Based on the results, the strategies for technology development was eventually proposed. As a result, it was revealed that Google focused its R&D capabilities on the part of hardware control to make up for its lack of hardware-oriented technologies. As of now, Google obtained remarkable achievements, so it seems reasonable that last-movers consider cooperative research with Google.
