  • In various disciplines, researchers, not single researchers, tend to cooperate to study the same topic. There are many studies to analyze the collaborative form of various researchers through the social network analysis method, but there are few such studies in the computer field. In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of network and various groups of researchers through the social network analysis technique of the co-authors of the Journal of Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, and analyze the degree centrality, the between centrality and edge weight. As a result of the analysis, many groups were extracted from the co-author's network, but the top 20 groups accounted for more than 50% of the total, also, we could find a pair of researchers who do joint research with a very high frequency. These Co-author networks are expected to be the basis for in-depth research on the subject and direction of research through future researches.

  • This study clarified the knowledge structure of international collaboration in psychiatry based on analyzing networks in order to construct cooperation networks for international collaboration in psychiatry in South Korea. The result of analysis of knowledge structure at a state-level is as follows. First, this study found that the rate of collaboration for five years is high as 89.97%. Moreover, this study investigated the change of rate of collaboration and international collaboration according to the passage of time, and ascertained that while the rate of international collaboration has increased, Second, this study examined the trend of research on collaboration between Asian countries, and found that collaboration between Asian countries is on a low level. Third, the country (or group) that the number of papers of international collaboration and the value of centrality are the highest is EU-28. The result of analysis of knowledge structure at a research output-level is as follows. this study analyzed the correlation of centrality with research output, and found that positive correlation exists in the three indicators of centrality, and a country with high centrality has good research output.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore application of topic modeling for topic analysis of book report. Topic modeling can be understood as one method of topic analysis. This analysis was conducted with texts in 23 book reports using LDA function of the "topicmodels" package provided by R. According to the result of topic modeling, 16 topics were extracted. The topic network was constructed by the relation between the topics and keywords, and the book report network was constructed by the relation between book report cases and topics. Next, Centrality analysis was conducted targeting the topic network and book report network. The result of this study is following these. First, 16 topics are shown as network which has one component. In other words, 16 topics are interrelated. Second, book report was divided into 2 groups, book reports with high centrality and book reports with low centrality. The former group has similarities with others, the latter group has differences with others in aspect of the topics of book reports. The result of topic modeling is useful to identify book reports' topics combining with network analysis.

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the correlation between in-degree and out-degree centrality Social Network Indices and cognitive and affective learning outcomes measures in an e-Learning environment. Results indicate both the out-degree and in-degree centrality indices are correlated with the cognitive learning outcome measures only. Further, results of the follow-up multiple regression analyses describe the cognitive learning outcome would be predicted by both the in-degree centrality (52%) and out-degree centrality (8%). A discussion is provided to interpret the results and limitations are specified.

  • Information and communications technology facilitates collaboration among individuals by functioning as an open platform for open collaboration projects. In this regard, this study aims to understand the network characteristics of participants who contribute greatly to open collaboration by investigating the mutual cooperation network in an open source project, which represents a form of open collaboration based on social network theory. To achieve this objective, this study analyzes the network centrality of developers with a high number of commits, particularly 8,101 developers in 782 repositories in GitHub, a representative open source platform. This study also determines how the relationship between network centrality and number of commits depends on the size of a repository network and the presence of a hub. Consequently, the number of commits by developers with high degree, betweenness, and closeness centrality is increasing. Among which, betweenness centrality has the highest explanatory power. Furthermore, when a hub is present and as network size increases, the relationship between the betweenness centrality of a developer and his/her number of commits continues to grow. This study is expected to provide suggestions for the successful performance of open collaboration projects in the future.

  • In the context of knowledge sharing, network position has been a controversial subject. A central position in the network provides access to non-redundant knowledge, leading to more opportunities of knowledge sharing. On the other hand, as "bridging" relationships, its characteristics as a "weak tie" suggest innate lack of trust and reciprocity which is considered an impediment to share knowledge. This paper attempts to enlighten the underlying dynamic by examining the interaction between network centrality, motivation and ability in knowledge sharing. Furthermore, this paper examines the concept of knowledge sharing ability in depth by operationalizing the construct into three aspects: extensive and diverse knowledge, social media utilization ability and self-efficacy. The results show a partially supported three-way interaction, where the highest level of knowledge provision is reported when the employee has low network centrality, high autonomous motivation and high knowledge sharing ability, i.e. extensive and diverse prior knowledge. Though all models indicate strong associations between network centrality and knowledge sharing, this suggests an even greater power of motivation and ability that gives the strength to overcome unfavorable environments of peripheral position. Therefore, this paper offers an alternative explanation to the existing debate whether network centrality positively or negatively influences knowledge sharing.

  • This study tried to explore the relation between research networks(coauthor network, author co-citation network, author bibliographic coupling network) and research performance of Records and Archives Management study in Korea. For the analysis, three basic types of network centrality and three indicators of research performance are used. The summary of this study is as follows: Firstly, there are relations between three centralities and three indicators of research performance in the coauthor network. Secondly, there are relations between betweenness centrality and research performance in the author co-citation/author bibliographic coupling networks. Thirdly, there are relations between three centralities in the each research network. Fourthly, there are not high relations between all centralities of the three research networks.

  • In this paper, the relationships between code-share networks and performances in airline industry were analyzed by using Social Network Analysis (SNA). We first analyzed the schedule data from OAG (Official Airline Guide) to obtain core-share information of airline industries. SNA was, then, applied to the code-share information. Finally, statistical analysis was conducted to analyze the relationships between code-share social networks and performances. The result shows that the size and out-degree centrality have relatively significant effects on the performance of airline industries, while in-degree and betweenness centrality has less significant effects.

  • This paper investigates differences of tourism destination choices for sightseeing in Seoul between first-time visitors and repeat visitors. We constructed social network using secondary data from '2015 International Visitor Survey' and analyzed its density and centrality. Study results find that: (1) first-time and repeat visitors' tourism destinations are concentrated in areas located north of the Han river. The proximity of destinations suggests the positive effects resulting from the movement network. (2) As the result of degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality, the highest ranking tourism destinations for both visitor groups are identical, but indexes of centralities in repeat visitors' destinations increase, including Shinchon/ Hongik University, Gangnam station, and Garosu-gil. Therefore, the roles of these destinations are becoming established as tourism hubs and are popular among younger visitors as well as attract repeat visitors. Results of this study will be a useful reference in developing and managing new tourism products.

  • The purpose of this study was to derive and analyze the hub facilities that occupy major positions in the vehicle movement networks of livestock facilities. For this purpose, this study used the KAHIS data provided by Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency. The hub facilities were derived from the degree centrality & betweenness centrality. The analysis results are summarized as follows. First, in a livestock facility's vehicle movement network, there are a small number of hub facilities with very high centrality indicator values compared to other facilities. Second, the hub facilities based on the degree centrality are the feed factory, the milk collecting center, slaughterhouse, slaughterhouse for chicken, and livestock markets. Third, the hub facilities based on the betweenness centrality are the livestock markets, the feed factory, and slaughterhouse. Fourth, hub facilities based on the degree centrality are concentrated in a particular area, but the hub facilities based on betweenness centrality are distributed relatively evenly.
