Performance of lightweight aggregate and self-compacted concrete-filled steel tube columns

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate the performance of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete Filled Steel Tube (LWCFST) columns experimentally and compare to the behavior of Self-Compacted Concrete Filled Steel Tube (SCCFST) columns under axial loading. Four different L/D ratios and three D/t ratios were used in the experimental program to delve into the compression behaviours. Compressive strength of the LWC and SCC are 33.47 MPa and 39.71 MPa, respectively. Compressive loading versus end shortening curves and the failure mode of sixteen specimens were compared and discussed. The design specification formulations of AIJ 2001, AISC 360-16, and EC4 were also assessed against test results to underline the performance of specification methods in predicting the compression capacity of LWCFST and SCCFST columns. Based on the behaviour of the SCCFST columns, LWCFST columns exhibited different performances, especially in ductility and failure mode. The nature of the utilized lightweight aggregate led to local buckling mode to be dominant in LWCFST columns, even the long LWCFST specimens suffered from this behaviour. While with the SCCFST specimens the global buckling governed the failure mode of long specimens without any loss in capacity. Considering a wide range of column geometries (short, medium and long columns), this paper extends the current knowledge in composite construction by examining the potential of two promising and innovative structural concrete types in CFST applications.

  • Over last decade extensive researches have been undertaken on the strength behaviour of Fiber Reinforced Concrete(FRC) structures. But the use of Ultra-High Strength Steel Fiber Cementitious Concrete Composites is in its infancy and there is a few experiments, analysis method and design criteria on the structural elements constructed with this new generation material which compressive strength is over 150 MPa and characteristic behaviour on the failure status is ductile. The objective of this paper is to investigate and analyze the behaviour of reinforced rectangular structural members constructed with ultra high performance cementitious composites (UHPCC). This material is known as reactive powder concrete (RPC) mixed with domestic materials and its compressive strength is over 150MP. The variables of test specimens were shear span ratio, reinforcement ratio and fiber quantity. Even if there were no shear stirrups in test specimens, most influential variable to determine the failure mode between shear and flexural action was proved to be shear span ratio. The characteristics of ultra high-strength concrete is basically brittle, but due to the steel fiber reinforcement behaviour of this structure member became ductile after the peak load. As a result of the test, the stress block of compressive zone could be defined. The proposed analytical calculation of internal force capacity based by plastic analysis gave a good prediction for the shear and flexural strength of specimens. The numerical verification of the finite element model which constitutive law developed for Mode I fracture of fiber reinforced concrete correctly captured the overall behaviour of the specimens tested.

소형 어선의 자동 권양 윈치시스템 설계 (Design of an Automatic Winch System for Small Fishing Vessel)

  • 연안 소형 어선의 조업 효율을 향상시키기 위한 연구의 일환으로 소형 유압식 어로윈치시스템을 설계하고, auto tension 기능을 내장시켜 이 시스템의 개루프 상태에 대한 동적 응답 특성을 분석, 고찰한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 본 연구에서 설계, 제작한 소형 윈치시스템은 갑판상 어느 장소에서도 조작이 가능하도록 원격조작방식을 채용하고 있기 때문에 어로 작업시의 인력 감소와 작업의 효율성을 높일수 있다고 생각된다. 2. 솔레노이드 밸브를 ou/off 조작하여 윈치를 구동할 때, 정전 및 역전 구동 조작에 대한 윈치 드럼의 회전 지연시간(dead time)은 각각 0.09 sec, 0.04 sec이었다. 또한 on/off 레버의 조작을 행한 직후 응답 특성은 약간 불안정하였지만, 짧은 경과 시간을 거쳐 안정되는 추종성능을 나타내었다. 3. 윈치를 auto tension mode로서 구동하는 경우, 윈치의 회전축에 55.9 kgf$.$m 이상의 토오크가 작용하면 윈치는 5.1 rpm의 회전속도로서 줄을 풀어내고, 그 이하의 토오크가 작용하면 11.1 rpm의 회전속도로서 줄을 감아들이는 자동 권양 윈치의 기능을 발휘한다. 4. 윈치의 auto tension mode에 대한 과도 응답에서 부하가 급격히 증가할 때와 감소할 때의 정정 시간은 0.12 sec, 0.2sec이었고, 그 때의 회전속도는 각각 11 rpm, 5.3 rpm이었다. 5. 원격제어조작에 따른 윈치의 토오크 및 회전속도에 대한 추종성능은 정전 구동에 있어서는 0.23 sec, 역전 구동의 경우에 있어서는 0.37 sec 이내로서 비교적 안정된 응답 특성을 나타내었다. 이상의 결과로부터 본 연구에서 설계한 소형 어선용 자동 권양 윈치 시스템은 인력을 절감하고, 부하의 급속한 변화에 대한 추종 성능이 현용 어로시스템에 비하여 매우 우수하기 때문에 해상에서 어로작업시 과부하에 대한 어구의 손상 방지 및 조업 효율의 향상에 크게 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

잠재변수를 이용한 RP/SP 결합모형에 관한 연구 (Combined RP/SP Model with Latent Variables)

  • 통행자의 통행수단선택행태는 개인의 사회경제적 속성과 수단의 속성뿐만 아니라 통행자 개인의 잠재된 통행행태 즉, 통행행태적 선호도 역시 큰 영향을 미친다. 통행수단선택행태에 특정한 영향을 미치는 잠재통행행태를 수단선택모형에 반영한다면 비관측요인에서 기인하는 오차를 크게 줄일 수 있고, 통행행태에 대한 다양하고 보다 합리적인 해석이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 한강 수상대중교통 도입에 따른 수단선택행태조사 자료를 활용하여 잠재변수를 정의하고 새로운 수단에 대한 분석이 가능한 RP/SP 결합모형을 구축하였다. 잠재변수는 행태설문조사자료를 기반으로 요인분석을 통해 계량화하였다. 모형구축결과 통행자들의 잠재된 통행행태는 수단선택행태에 유의한 영향을 미치고, 잠재변수를 반영한 경우 모형의 적합도가 향상되었다. 또한 잠재행태 관점에서도 RP/SP 결합모형이 SP모형에 비해 합리적인 것으로 분석되었다.

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate and analyze the behaviour of prestressed I section structural members constructed with ultra high perfomance steel fiber reinforced cementitious concrete (SFR-UHPC). This material is known as reactive powder concrete (RPC) mixed with domestic materials and its compressive strength is over 150MP. The parameters of test specimens were span to depth ratio, prestressing force, prestressing wire placement and web width. Most influential parameter to determine the failure mode between shear and flexural action was proved to be shear span ratio. The characteristics of ultra high-strength concrete is basically brittle, but due to the steel fiber reinforcement behaviour of this structure member became ductile after the peak load. As a result of the test, the stress block of compressive zone should be redefined. The proposed analytical calculation of internal force capacity based by plastic analysis gave a good prediction for the shear and flexural strength of specimens. Steel fibre and transverse reinforcement effects on the behaviour of high strength concrete beams

  • An experimental program was carried out to investigate the influence of fibre reinforcement on the mechanical behaviour of high strength reinforced concrete beams. Eighteen beams, loaded in four-point bending tests, were examined by applying monotonically increasing controlled displacements and recording the response in terms of load-deflection curves up to failure. The major test variables were the volume fraction of steel fibres and the transverse steel amount for two different values of shear span. The contribution of the stirrups to the shear strength was derived from the deformations of their vertical legs, measured by means of strain gauges. The structural response of the tested beams was analyzed to evaluate strength, stiffness, energy absorption capacity and failure mode. The experimental results and observed behaviour are in good agreement with those obtained by other authors, confirming that an adequate amount of steel fibres in the concrete can be an alternative solution for minimizing the density of transverse reinforcement. However, the paper shows that the use of different theoretical or semi-empirical models, available in literature, leads to different predictions of the ultimate load in the case of dominant shear failure mode.

  • 본 연구는 CRW형식 무인항공기 추진시스템의 밸브 작동을 고려한 비행모드에 따른 천이성능특성을 파악하기 위해 SIMULINK를 이용하여 모델링 하였다. 주 엔진시스템의 천이모사에는 ICV 방법이 적용되였다. 그리고 밸브 시스템은 로터리 덕트와 메인 덕트로 빠져나가는 유량을 제어하는 시스템으로서 밸브를 통해 로터리 덕트로 빠져나가는 유량과 메인 덕트를 빠져나가는 유량이 합은 터빈의 출구 유량과 같다는 가정하에 수행 되었으며, 이때 밸브각 변화에 따른 손실, 유량 및 유효 면적 등이 고려되었다. 성능해석은 비행 천이 영역인 고도 1Km 비행 마하수 0.1에서 엔진최대회전수시 회전익 모드에서 고정익 모드로 변환시외 고정익 모드에서 회전익 모드로 변환 경우들이 수행되였다.

Ductile Fracture Behaviour under Mode I Loading Using Rousellier Ductile Damage Theory

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the ductile fracture behaviour under Mode I loading using SA533B pressure vessel steel. Experiments consist of the Round Notch Bar Test (RNB), Single Edge Crack Bending Test (SECB), and V-Notch Bar Test (VNB). Results from the RNB test were used to tune the damage modelling constant. The other tests were performed to acquire the J-resistance curves and to confirm the damage constants. Microstructural observation includes the measurement of crack profile to obtain the roughness parameter. Finally, simulation using Rousellier Ductile Damage Theory (RDDT) was carried out with 4-node quadrilateral element ($L_c=0.25\;mm$). For the crack advance, the failed element removal technique was adopted with a ${\beta}$ criterion. In conclusion, the predicted simulation using RDDT showed a good agreement with the experimental results. A trial using a roughness parameter was made for a new evaluation of J-resistance curve, which is more conservative than the conventional one.

  • From the analysis results of some as-built drawings in national roadway bridges in Korea, many bridge piers are expected to show complex shear-flexural behaviour under earthquakes. But the previous research works about the seismic evaluation of bridges considered flexural behaviour RC piers only. In addition, the past bridge design specifications in Korea didn't include limitation on the amount of longitudinal lap splices in the plastic hinge zone of piers. Thus a large majority of non-seismically designed bridge piers in Korea may have lap splices in plastic hinge zone. In this study, prototype pier was selected among existent bridge piers whose failure mode is expected to be complex shear-flexural mode. And then, full scale and 1/2 reduced scale model RC piers with various longitudinal lap splice details were constructed. From the quasi static test results on these model RC piers, the effect of longitudinal lap splices on the seismic performance of bridges piers was analyzed. And the seismic capacity of the non-seismically designed shear-flexural RC piers was evaluated.
