  • The control algorithm of a new type self-bearing step motor is presented. The motor actuator is used for both motor and bearing functionality without any redundant coil windings or redundant electromagnets. The self$.$bearing step motor layout and its control method are described. A linearized farce-current-displacement relationship is derived. As the result of the unbalance response approach, the constant torque production is possible fur the supply current regulation algorithm. And even if the bearing functionality is added in the motor functionality, no additional current for bearing functionality is possible, and this leads to minimize the net power loss. Also, the unbalance response shows the independent bearing force and motor torque.

  • In this paper, a novel structure Bearingless SRM with hybrid stator poles is proposed. The motor torque can be controlled independently from radial force control. Analytical models of torque and radial force for proposed structure are explained. Based on these models, control scheme of desired radial force is proposed. In this control method, the magnitude of force can be controlled in arbitrary direction and magnitude by selecting some combinations of radial force windings. The validities of structure and control method are verified by the experimental results when motor is at standstill and running.

  • The analysis and control of a new type unsymmetrical slotted self-bearing step motor for small angle control is presented. The motor actuator is used for both motor and bearing functionality without any additional coil windings or electromagnets for bearing functionality. A circular-arc, straight-line permeance model for the fringing effect is presented. An unsymmetrical slotted self-bearing step motor layout and control algorithm are described. A new control current generation method using the electromagnets layout geometry, which needs no additional current for bearing functionality, is proposed. As the result of this analysis the fringing effect largely influences on the system characteristics. especially in torque. Even if the bearing functionality is added into the motor functionality, it is shown that the magnitude of torque is not changed.

Particle Swarm Assisted Genetic Algorithm for the Optimal Design of Flexbeam Sections

  • This paper considers the optimum design of flexbeam cross-sections for a full-scale bearingless helicopter rotor, using an efficient hybrid optimization algorithm based on particle swarm optimization, and an improved genetic algorithm, with an effective constraint handling scheme for constrained nonlinear optimization. The basic operators of the genetic algorithm, of crossover and mutation, are revisited, and a new rank-based multi-parent crossover operator is utilized. The rank-based crossover operator simultaneously enhances both the local, and the global exploration. The benchmark results demonstrate remarkable improvements, in terms of efficiency and robustness, as compared to other state-of-the-art algorithms. The developed algorithm is adopted for two baseline flexbeam section designs, and optimum cross-section configurations are obtained with less function evaluations, and less computation time.

  • This paper describes basic properties tests and non-rotating dynamic test for rotor blade, flexbeam, and torque tube of which bearingless rotor in helicopter consists. A basic properties test are bending and twist test to find the flap stiffness, lag stiffness, and twist stiffness of specimens. The purpose of dynamic test is to find natural frequencies and modes in non-rotating state. The test results are used to update the analysis model. The updated analysis results using rotorcraft comprehensive code match the tests quite well. The updated model input based on the tests will be utilized to analysis the conditions of rotating whirl tower test before the whirl test and will be compared with the whirl tower test results.

  • A suspending force control based on fuzzy logic control is proposed to apply on a novel hybrid bearingless switched reluctance motor(BLSRM) which has separated torque and suspending force pole. In this paper, two fuzzy controller targeted at x-axis direction and y-axis direction are adopted to maintain the shaft at center position, which is very necessary for stable operation of BLSRM. Useing the modified fuzzy logic controller, the suspending system can behave a good performance, and the proposed scheme can be verified by simulation results.

  • 본 논문에서는 헬리콥터의 전진비행시 발생하는 허브 진동 하중 저감을 위해 설계된 능동 뒷전 플랩이 장착된 SNUF 블레이드의 무베어링 주 로터 적용 설계에 대해 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 EDISON의 박벽 복합재료 회전보 진동해석 프로그램(CORBA77_MEMB)을 이용하여 유연보의 단면 설계가 이루어졌다. 다물체 동역학 해석 프로그램 DYMORE를 이용하여 단면 설계에 따른 블레이드 동특성 및 능동 뒷전 플랩을 이용한 하중 제어의 특성을 예측하였다.
