GaN-FET을 이용한 e-Mobility 배터리용 충전기 모됼의 소형화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Miniaturization of e-Mobility Battery Charger Module Using GaN-FET)

  • In this paper, a study was conducted on the miniaturization of an e-Mobility battery charger module using GaN-FET. GaN-FET is one of the types of WBG devices, and it is a device that exceeds the performance of existing Si power semiconductors. In particular, GaN-FET has the advantage of small packaging size and high switching frequency operation, which is advantageous for miniaturization of power converters. Therefore, a bidirectional DC/DC converter module for e-mobility charging using GaN-FET was developed. To apply to the converter to be developed, analysis is performed on the characteristics of GaN-FET, and after manufacturing a prototype of a bidirectional DC/DC converter module, the efficiency and temperature data of the power converter are analyzed to verify its feasibility.

  • This paper proposes a DC-DC converter that satisfies a wide output voltage of 150 V-1000 V for the battery voltage of various electric vehicles and can be controlled in both directions for the demand resource of electric vehicles. The proposed converter is a two-stage structure in which an insulated converter and a non-isolated converter are combined and operates as constant current or constant power depending on the voltage of the connected battery. Experimental results from a 20 kW prototype are provided to validate the proposed charger, and a maximum efficiency of 97% is obtained.

  • The design and performance of a SiC-MOSFET-based 11-kW bi-directional on-board charger (OBC) for electric vehicles is presented. The OBC consists of a three-phase two-level AC/DC converter and a CLLLC resonant converter. All the power devices are implemented with SiC-MOSFETs to reduce the conduction losses generated in the OBC, and the DC-link voltage is designed to track the level of battery voltage in the forward and reverse powering modes. As a result, the CLLLC resonant converter always runs at the switching frequency near the resonant frequency, resulting in high-efficiency operation at the maximum powering modes. As the DC-link voltage varies according to the battery voltage, the AC/DC converter in the proposed OBC adopts an adaptive DC-link voltage controller. The performance of the proposed 11-kW OBC is verified by a prototype converter with the following specifications: three-phase 60-Hz 380-V input, 11-kW capacity, and battery voltage range of 214-413-V, resulting in the conversion efficiency of over 95.0-% in the forward and reverse powering modes.

  • The phase-lock technique is applied to a three-phase semi-bridge type battery charger system. Using an inner fast dynamic loop, the phase-locked voltage control (PLVC) technique of three-phase semi-bridge converter is proposed to give a frequency synchronism and to reduce the subharmonics due to the unbalance of transformer or power line. To protect the power devices, the two stage soft-start, function with softly locking the phase and softly increasing the current is presented. As limiting the reference voltage of the inner voltage control loop, muti-lock phenomena are removed on the PLVC loop. A current limit function is also proposed to limit the current of battery and converter. The proposed controller is confirmed through experiment results.

  • 현재 대부분의 전동지게차 충전기는 3상의 일정전류제어와 일정전압제어 방식으로 운전되고 있으며, 이러한 충전방식은 충전기의 이용률을 저하시킬 뿐 아니라 축전지의 수명을 단축시키는 등의 단점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해서, 본 논문에서는 기존의 방식에서 일정전력제어 및 부가적인 제어모드를 첨가한 다중제어 충전방식을 제시하였다. 전체 제어시스템은 저가의 micro-controller를 적용하여 디지털화 시킴으로써 제어정도 및 신뢰성을 향상시켰으며, 제어장치의 소형화와 함께 저 가격화를 실현하였다.

  • In this paper, the paralleled forward converter, that is generally used as the power supply for the low voltage, high current load, is described. The proposed forward converter for battery charging could be provided the power without failure not only in steady state but also in the transient period by the step load variation or the unexpected faults among the converter modules. Each converter nodule designed is operated alone with the self closed controller for the elevation of stability, performance, reliability, and maintainability. The frequency response of the designed converter module is analyzed, and the stability is confirmed in analytic method. And the experiments of the paralleled battery charger are carried out in steady state, in the step load variation.

High Efficiency Design Procedure of a Second Stage Phase Shifted Full Bridge Converter for Battery Charge Applications Based on Wide Output Voltage and Load Ranges

  • This work presents a high efficiency phase shifted full bridge (PSFB) DC-DC converter for use in the second stage of a battery charger for neighborhood electrical vehicle (EV) applications. In the design of the converter, Lithium-ion battery cells are preferred due to their high voltage and current rates, which provide a high power density. This requires wide range output voltage regulation for PSFB converter operation. In addition, the battery charger works with a light load when the battery charge voltage reaches its maximum value. The soft switching of the PSFB converter depends on the dead time optimization and load condition. As a result, the converter has to work with soft switching at a wide range output voltage and under light conditions to reach high efficiency. The operation principles of the PSFB converter for the continuous current mode (CCM) and the discontinuous current mode (DCM) are defined. The performance of the PSFB converter is analyzed in detail based on wide range output voltage and load conditions in terms of high efficiency. In order to validate performance analysis, a prototype is built with 42-54 V / 15 A output values at a 200 kHz switching frequency. The measured maximum efficiency values are obtained as 94.4% and 76.6% at full and at 2% load conditions, respectively.

  • Electrical Power supply System conditions of korea high speed train consists of main transformer, four AC-DC PWM converter of Auxiliary Block, Battery Charger in Power Car and Trailer Car, Trailer Inverter, Auxiliary inverter. Main transformer, at nominal voltage of 25kv supplied to secondary winding nominal output Voltage 383Vac, The Auxiliary block consists of AC-DC converters for generating 670VDC power, Auxiliary inverters for ventilation and air compressor, Trailer car inverter provide three phase power supplies at 440Vac for air conditioning and heating. The Battery charger Trailer and Power car supplies 72VDC all necessary equipment to energize the trainset equipment and suppy essential control. This Paper introduces the combined test results of the power supply system for korea high speed train. The main purpose of this combined test is to verify the performance of the power supply system that is designed to operate up to full load test.

  • This paper proposed dc-dc converter with continuous output current for battery charger. If we charge energy storage device by conventional boost converter, current flows into the discontinuous and as a result reduces the life-time of battery. The output voltage of dc-dc converter should be higher than voltage of across the battery, specially if charging by PV there is a fluctuation of voltage due change of insolation and temperature, therefore will boost and regulate this voltage. The proposal converter includes forward converter and the output voltage of the proposal converter looks like an input voltage and forward output voltage's add. This topology was tested on simulation and experimentation. Simulation and experimentation results indicated that the proposal topology is useful for battery charging because the output current of the converter flows continuously and perfectly.

  • 최근 들어 친환경 자동차 분야는 바야흐로 전기자동차 시대를 맞이하게 되었다. 이러한 전기자동차는 전지(battery)로부터 전력을 공급받아 전동기로 차량을 구동하는 구조로 되어 있어 전지를 충전하기 위한 충전기가 필수적이다. 이러한 충전기는 탑재형 충전기(on board charger)와 별치형 충전기(off board charger)로 분류된다. 보통 별치형 충전기는 급속충전용으로 3상 교류전원을 직류로 변환하여 최대 400A의 용량까지 사용할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 자동차에 직접 장착되는 탑재형 충전기를 제안한다. 제안된 충전기는 상용전원을 입력으로 넓은 범위의 출력을 갖으며 고효율, 고역률, 고전력밀도의 충전기로 시작품을 제작하여 그 기능을 검증하였다.
