This study proposes an electric vehicle (EV) smart panel board and its control method on the basis of charging scheduling. The proposed system consists of batteries, a three-phase battery charger, three single-phase inverters, transfer switches for electric power distribution, and a controller. The three-phase battery charger usually charges the batteries at midnight when electric rates are cheap and in light load. When the electric power consumption of the EV standard chargers connected to one phase of the power line is relatively large or when a blackout occurs, the electric power stored in the battery is supplied by discharging through the inverters to the EV standard chargers. As a result, the value of peak load and the charging electric power quantity supplied from a utility grid are reduced, and the current unbalance is improved. The usefulness of the proposed system is confirmed through simulations, experiments, and case studies.
In this paper, a buck-boost type battery charger is developed for charging battery set with a lower voltage. This battery charger is configured by a rectifier circuit, an integrated boost/buck power converter and a switched capacitors circuit. A boost power converter and a buck power converter sharing a common power electronic switch are integrated to form the integrated boost/buck power converter. By controlling the common power electronic switch, the battery charger performs a hybrid constant-current/constant-voltage charging method and gets a high input power factor. Accordingly, both the power circuit and the control circuit of the developed battery charger are simplified. The switched capacitors circuit is applied to be the output of the boost converter and the input of the buck converter. The switched capacitors circuit can change its voltage according to the utility voltage so as to reduce the step-up voltage gain of the boost converter when the utility voltage is small. Hence, the power efficiency of a buck-boost type battery charger can be improved. Moreover, the step-down voltage gain of the buck power converter is reduced to increase the controllable range of the duty ratio for the common power electronic switch. A prototype is developed and tested to verify the performance of the proposed battery charger.
Recent environmental pollutions have intensified the need to develop zero emission vehicles. The most effect method of such solutions is EV. EV is high energy efficiency, easy to maintain, repair and is possible to make high performance control. However, because energy density of batteries is constrained and the distance covered one charge is short range. Also because EV has disadvantage of poor accelation ability, development of high performance battery is required for large scale use of EV. EV charger analogous to gas apparatus must also be developed immediately. Charger is discriminate between on-vehicle type and off-vehicle type. As off-vehicle type is able to charge fast and safe, inductive charging is considered. This paper aims to develope off-vehicle inductive charging system. Therefore, it achieved power factor correction converter, high frequency DC/AC inverter control algorithm development which gives proof validity through simulation and formulated the basic concept of high frequency transformer design for inductive charging.

This paper proposes an efficient bi-directional DC/DC converter topology using multi-phase interleaved method for power storage system. The proposed converter topology is used for a power storage system using a vanadium redox flow battery(VRFB) and is configured to enable bidirectional power flow for charging and discharging of VRFB. Proposed DC/DC converter of the 4 leg method is reduced to 1/4 times the rating of the reactor and the power semiconductor device so can be reduce the system size. Also, proposed topology is obtained the effect of four times the switching frequency as compared to the conventional converter in each leg with a 90 degree phase shift 4 leg method. This can suppress the reduction of the life of the secondary battery because it is possible to reduce the current ripple in accordance with the charging and discharging of VRFB and may increase the efficiency of the entire system. In this paper, it proposed bidirectional high-efficiency DC/DC converter topology Using multi-phase interleaved method and proved the validity through simulations and experiments.
UNECE/WP29/GRPE/EVE has recently defined that the power of a hybrid electric vehicle is the system power. Although a method for measuring the maximum power of a hybrid electric vehicle is presented by KATRI, it does not consider charging and discharging characteristics of traction batteries. This study provides a maximum power measurement method which reflects the charging and discharging characteristics of traction batteries in NOVC-HEVs (Not Off Vehicle Charging-Hybrid Electric Vehicles). Both methods are compared with regard to the output measurement results.
Depending on the college graduation project and graduation thesis regulations for the certification and graduation requirements, the quadcopter acting as a Li-Po battery that charges by solar energy are proposed a design method and improvements in theory. Quadcopter posture is balanced and confirmed by the position sensor, through a PID (Proportional Integral Differential) control. Battery switching circuit is composed of two Li-Po battery. Driving the quadcopter as one battery, and does not use other battery is charged by solar energy. A battery switching circuit is fabricated in a manner that uses two types of relays. Even if completely not charged to the battery is being driven a certain switch by the battery charging voltage from time to time, it proposes a method for increasing the endurance time and range.

A lithium polymer battery-based 9 kJ/s high-voltage capacitor charger, which comprises two stages, is proposed. A modified LCC resonant converter and resonant circuit are introduced at the first and second stages, respectively. In the first stage, the methods for handling low-voltage and high-current batteries are considered. Delta-wye three-phase transformers are used to generate a high output voltage through the difference between the phase and line-to-line voltages. Another method is placing the series resonant capacitor of the LCC resonant components on the transformer secondary side, which conducts considerably low current compared with the transformer primary side. On the basis of the stable operation of the first charging stage, the secondary charging stage generates final output voltage by using the resonance. This additional stage protects the rectifying diodes from the negative voltage when the output capacitor is discharged for a short time. The inductance and capacitance of the resonance components are selected by considering the resonance charging time. The design procedure for each stage with the aforementioned features is suggested, and its performance is verified by not only simulation but also experimental results.

A new method for the current ripple reduction of a three-phase interleaved bidirectional DC-DC converter is proposed. The converter used in this study operates in discontinuous mode to minimize the switching losses. All the switches are turned on at ZVS and ZCS conditions, and turned off at ZVS condition. The charging and discharging power of the battery is controlled by varying the switching frequency while maintaining the discontinuous mode operation. A 3 kW 20 kHz power converter is designed and implemented. Simulation and experimental results show the validity of the proposed method. The proposed control method can be used to reduce the battery ripple current significantly.
This paper presents a low-cost portable lithium battery parameter measuring and estimating the solution. In this method, lithium battery characteristics are monitored during discharging and charging cycles. The battery profile is analyzed, and its key parameters are estimated by GNU Octave running on Raspberry Pi Zero, a mini computer. The proposed method can measure and estimate the battery parameters for SOC and DOD estimation with reasonable accuracy as well as portability features.

The SOC estimation method based on Kalman Filter(KF) requires the accurate battery model to express the electrical characteristics of the battery. However, the performance of KF SOC estimator can hardly be improved because of the nonlinear characteristic of the battery. This paper proposes the new KF SOC estimator of Lithium-Polymer Battery(LiPB), which considers the variation of parameters based on the hysteresis effect, the magnitude of SOC, the charging/discharging mode and the on/off load conditions. The proposed SOC estimation method is verified with the PSIM simulation combined the experimental data of the LiPB.
