In this work, the effect of anodic oxidation on surface characteristics of high strength PAN-based carbon fibers was investigated in mechanical interfacial properties of composites. The surface properties of the carbon fibers were determined by acid-base values, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and contact angles. And their mechanical interfacial properties of the composites were studied in interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and critical stress intensity factor ($K_{IC}$). As a result, the acidity or the $O_{ls}/C_{ls}$ ratio of carbon fiber surfaces was increased, due to the development of the oxygen functional groups. Consequently, the anodic oxidation led to an increase in surface free energy of the carbon fibers, mainly due to the increase of its specific (or polar) component. The mechanical interfacial properties of the composites, including ILSS and $K_{IC}$, had been improved in the anodic oxidation on fibers. These results were explained that good wetting played an important role in improving the degree of adhesion at interfaces between fibers and epoxy resin matrix.
The purpose f this study was to evaluate the effect of resin film thickness on the tensile bond strength and to compare the tensile bond strengths of 4 differently treated metal surfaces. For the experiment, seventy metal specimens were cast with Verabond and divided into I, II, III, groups. The metal specimens in group I were electrolytically etched and cemented with Panavia under finger pressure. Cement film thickness was regulated with metal spacers. The metal specimens in Group II were treated by 4 methods, such as electrolytic etching method, salt-roughened method, EZ-oxisor method , chemical etching method and cemented with Panavia. In group III, electrolytically etched metal specimens were cemented with Hy-Bond. The etched surface of metal specimens and the cement film thickness were examined under the scanning electron microscope. Results were as follows; 1. The tensile bond strength showed no significant difference between $30{\mu}m,\;80{\mu}m,\;130{\mu}m$ film thicknessspecimens. 2. There was no significant difference in the tensile bond strength between the 4 differently treated metal specimens. 3. The tensile bond strength showed significant difference between Panavia and Hy-Bond. 4. Scanning electron microscope photograph revealed that tile interdendritic eutectic was removed in electrolytically etched metal surfaces hilt even dendritic arm was removed in Chemically etched metal surfaces. 5. The metal surfaces which were air-abraded with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide showed roughness and small crack on scanning electron microscope photograph.
The Jewelry-relation industry is being placed in the crises which are serious with depression of domestic market, design development and a major force absence also high labor cost charge. The consumers have the value of the price preparation maximum and product differentiation which they want. The Jewelry CAD and RP equipment shorten cost of production enterprise which depended hand-metal work provided for the various design and a rapid new product. But until now, it was necessary to the original work of best condition casting vacuum cycle as difficult with direct casting of synthetic resin from RP equipment. I intend to imply significance about through the CAD and RP equipment application result with it analyses, after jewelry CAD and RP work applicable to direct casting will be possible and able to through the casting vacuum cycle produce the product which is suitable in the original production. Through the this paper jewelry secures a quality improvement of the product and discrimination characteristic being various competitive power of design and provide a new base in product production.
This study was performed to evaluate the tensile bond strength and modulus of elasticity of three permanent soft denture liners (Molloplast $B^{(R)}$, Ufi Gel $C^{(R)},\;Tokuyama^{(R)}$) before and after thermocycling. And their water sorption were also evaluated. Each soft denture liner was bonded to PMMA denture base resin blocks and the tensile bond strength and modulus of elasticity were measured by using universal testing machine. For the water sorption, weight measured after immersion of sea denture liners in $37{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ water bath for 4 weeks. The results were as follows : 1. Molloplast $B^{(R)}$ had the highest tensile bond strength, while Tokuyama had the lowest tensile bond strength. There was no significant difference between $Tokuyama^{(R)}$ and Molloplast $B^{(R)}$ in the both nonthermocycling and thermocycling. There was significant difference in tensile strength of $Tokuyama^{(R)}$ before and after thermocycling(p<0.05). 2. For the modulus of elasticity, there was no significant difference between Ufi Gel $C^{(R)}\;and\;Tokuyama^{(R)}$ in the both nonthermocycling and thermocycling. There was significant difference in modulus of elasticity of $Tokuyama^{(R)}$ before and after thermocycling(p<0.05). 3 The failure modes of Molloplast $B^{(R)}$ and Ufi Gel $C^{(R)}$ were mainley adhesive type and that of $Tokuyama^{(R)}$ was mainly mixed type in case of nonthermocycling and cohesive type after thermocycling. 4. The water sorption of each soft liners was within ${\pm}2%$ in times (p<0.05) but. there was no significant difference among the soft liners in times.
Cloning, sequencing and expressing in E. coli of the thymidine kinase (TK) gene of Herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV-1) strain F was investigated. The TK gene, located in the BamHI 3.74 kb DNA fragment of the plasmid pHLA-12, was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The 1,131 kb PCR product was cloned into the BamHI and EcoRI sites of pBacPAK9 plasmid and then named pBac-TK recombinant. The TK gene was subcloned into the BamHI and BglII sites of pQE-30, and named pQE-TK recombinant. The nucleotide sequence of the 1,131 kb TK gene was determined, and the GC content was 65.13%. There were deduced 367 amino acid residues with a total molecular weight of 43 kDa. The weight was confirmed by the protein produced by E. coli M15/pQE-TK on the SDS-PAGE and Western blot. The production of the TK protein in the IPTG induced cells was measured over 4 h. At the end of 1, 2 and 3 h the level increased by 146, 204 and 242%, respectively. The amount of the protein at the highest fraction purified with Ni-NTA resin chromatography was $0.68\;{\mu}g$ per ml. The soluble state TK protein was present in the cytoplasm. In these results the F strain was different in base sequence and amino acid sequence from that of the CL101 strain, which caused difference in their strains.

This case is a porcelain laminate veneer (PLV) and all-ceramic crown treatment case on a female patient in her thirties who visited for esthetic improvement. The patient's chief complaint was protrusive and uneven anterior teeth, and she wanted minimum tooth reduction. The patient was in skeletal class II deep bite. Considering this, check bite method was used for mounting on articulator during diagnostic wax-up. Tooth reduction was done using mock-up base on diagnostic wax-up, and the amount of deletion was checked by index. For the accordance of shade, PLVs were restored in prior to all ceramic crown. After using all-ceramic crown, satisfactory esthetic improvement was obtained.

In this work, red mud (RM) was chemically modified by 0.1, 1, and 5 M H3PO4 solution to prepare epoxy/RM nanocomposites. The effect of chemical treatment on pH, acid-base values, specific surface area, and porosity of RM surface was analyzed. To estimate the mechanical interfacial properties of epoxy/RM nanocomposites, the critical stress intensity factor (K$_{IC}$) was measured. From the experimental results, it was clearly revealed that the porosity, specific surface area, and acid values of RM surface were developed as the increase of the treatment concentration due to the increase of acidic functional group, including hydroxyl group on RM surface. The mechanical interfacial properties of epoxy/treated-RM nanocomposites were higher than those of epoxy/RM as-received due to an improvement of interfacial bonding between basic matrix and RM surface.

A Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor imbedded small wind turbine blade was manufactured to experimentally investigate the feasibility to embed FBG sensors between layers of glass fiber to monitor dynamic strains of the wind turbine blade. The blade which is similar to a commercial 300 W wind turbine blade was manufactured with glass fiber as a reinforcement and epoxy resin as base material. A total of five FBG sensors including one temperature sensor were imbedded in the blade to sense mechanical strain and temperature. While manufacturing the blade, residual strain and temperature that occurred in the small wind turbine blade were monitored using the imbedded FBG sensor array. To examine the sensor performance, an impact test was carried out. The experimental results from the FBG sensors were close to those from electrical strain gages mounted on the blade root surface. The mode shapes of the blade were analyzed also using a commercial Ansys simulation with a model obtained from a three dimensional laser scanning of the blade.
Metal-p-$NH_2$-Bn-DOTA (paraammionobenzyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid: ABDOTA) complex was synthesized and purified for bio-tagging to quantify biological target materials using laser ablation (LA)-ICP-MS. Since the preparation of a pure and stable tagging complex is the key procedure for quantification, magnetic particles were used to purify the synthesized metal-ABDOTA complex. The magnetic particles immobilized with the complex attracted to a permanent magnet, resulting in fast separation from free un-reacted metal ions in solution. Gd ions formed the metal-complex with a higher yield of 64.3% (${\pm}3.9%$ relative standard deviation (RSD)) than Y ions, 52.3% (${\pm}2.5%$ RSD), in the pH range 4-7. The complex bound to the magnetic particles was released by treatment with a strong base, of which the recovery was 81.7%. As a reference, a solid phase extraction (SPE) column packed with Chelex-100 resin was employed for separation under similar conditions and produced comparable results. The tagging technique complemented polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microarray chip sampling in LA-ICP-MS, allowing determination of small sample volumes at high throughputs. For application, immunoglobulin G (IgG) was immobilized on the pillars of PDMS microarray chips and then tagged with the prepared Gd complex. IgG could then be determined through measurement of Gd by LA-ICP-MS. A detection limit of 1.61 ng/mL (${\pm}0.75%$ RSD) for Gd was obtained.

In this work, the effect of chemical treatments on surface properties of SiC was investigated in mechanical interfacial properties of carbon fibers-reinforced composites. The surface properties of the SiC were determined by acid/base values and contact angles. The thermal stabilities of carbon fibers-reinforced composites were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Also, the mechanical interfacial properties of the composites were studied in interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and critical strain energy release rate mode II $(G_{IIC})$ measurements. As a result, tile acidically treated SiC (A-SiC) had higher acid value than that of untreated SiC (V-SiC) or basically treated SiC (B-SiC). According to the contact angle measurements, it was observed that chemical treatments led to an increase of surface free energy of the SiC surfaces, mainly due to the increase of the specific (polar) component. The mechanical interfacial properties of the composites, including ILSS and $(G_{IIC})$, had been improved in the specimens treated by chemical solutions. These results were explained that good wetting played an important role in improving the degree of adhesion at interfaces between SiC and epoxy resin matrix.
