A reversed trapezoidal fin with variable fin base thickness is optimized using a two-dimensional analytical method. For the fin base boundary condition, instead of a constant temperature, heat transfer from the inside fluid to the fin base is considered. Heat loss from the fin tip is not ignored. The maximum heat loss, corresponding optimum fin effectiveness, fin length and base height are presented as a function of the fin base thickness, shape factor and volume.
This paper aims to examine baes metal alloy in all its aspects - the roles of elements, the content of every element according to uses, characters, laboratory technique methods and the kind of artificial base metal alloy registered in A.D.A. Specification. The results are as follows; 1. Base metal alloy is used widely bacaues it is rather cheap, but it should be handled appropriately in operating because its quality is bad. 2. Classifying base metal alloy, it is classified into Co-Cr alloy, Ni-Cr alloy, and Ni-Cr-Co alloy according to element, it is classified into partial denture alloy, surgical alloy and crown & bridge alloy according to use. 3. Among elements of base metal alloy, Bellium lowers the melting point of the alloy and increases the strength, but the amount should be limited when it is used because it destroys the organization of a living body. 4. The investments for base metal alloy are ethyl silcate bonded investment and phosphate bonded investment which endure well at high burn out temperature. 5. A.D.A specification No.14 in Kore contains Niranium, Nobilium, regalloy, Ticonium and Vitallium.
The germination responses of Cassia mimosoides var. nomame seeds to temperature were examined under various conditions. The temperature range allowing germination was $20~40^{\circ}C$, and the linear relationship between the germination rate and temperature appeared to exist between $28~38^{\circ}C$ The total thermal time required for germination (10~80%) of C. mimosoides seeds ranged from 259 Kh (degree Kelvin$\times$hours) to 421 Kh and base temperature range was relatively constant, i.e., $23.39~26.68^{\circ}C$. In the increasing temperature (IT) regime, C. mimosoides seeds started to germinate at $16^{\circ}C$ and showed greater germination rate with increasing temperatures. The final germination rate was 64% at $36^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, in the decreasing temperature (DT) regime, the seeds began to germinate at $36^{\circ}C$, and the final germination rate was 52% at $20^{\circ}C$. An induced dormancy occurred at $16^{\circ}C$ in the DT regime.
The aim of this paper is to determine temperature and stress distributions in a ceramic based on Partially Stabilized Zirconia coated steel piston crown by using plasma spraying for improving performance of a marine diesel engine. Effects of coating constituent and thickness on temperature and stress distributions were investigated including comparisons with results from an uncoated piston by means of finite element method namely ANSYS. Temperature developed at the coated surface is significantly higher than that of the uncoated piston. The maximum stress components occur between bond coat and adjacent ceramic layer. Provided that coating thickness is constant as 0.5 mm, when numbers of layers increase, magnitude of the normal stress decrease about 34.1% on the base metal surface according to uncoated piston, but the base metal surface temperature of the steel piston increase about 13.1%.

In almost all real situations, there will be a radiant interchange between adjacent fins with the base surface as well as with the external environment. In the problem of this study, a rectangular fin is attached to a based. Our concern is whether the convective fin efficiency can be increased by the radiation heat exchanged between the fin and the base surface and how much. If the fin temperature toward the tip increased by the effect of radiation, the convective heat transfer increase due to the temperature difference between the ambient temperature and the surface temperature of the fin. If this true, the efficiency of the fin due to the radiation will increase. Attention is directed toward several parameters which have major roles on getting values of the fin efficiencies in several different values of parameters. Many different cases are, therefore, to be examined to have maximum fin efficiency by varying the values of each parameter.

In this study, temperature dependency of current gain for AlGaAs/GaAs/GaAs HBT is analytically proposed over the temperature range between 300K and 600K. Energy bandgap, effective mass, intrinsic carrier concentration are considered as temperature dependent parameters. Collector current which is numerically calculated is then analytically expressed to enhance the speed of calculation for current gain. From the results, current gain decreases as the temperature increases. These results will be used to expect the unity current gain frequency f$_{T}$ in conjunction with emitter-base and collector- base capacitances.s.
Various kinetic parameters of the nucleation and crystallization in anorthite glass (CaO.Al2O3.2SiO2) were calculated by nonisothermal differential thermal analysis. Base glass and glass with TiO2 were prepared by melting. In base glass, the temperature where nucleation can occur ranges from 85$0^{\circ}C$ to 9$25^{\circ}C$ and the temperature for maximum nucleation was 900$\pm$5$^{\circ}C$. In glass with TiO2, the nucleation temperature range was 800~875$^{\circ}C$ and the maximum nucleation temperature was 850$\pm$5$^{\circ}C$. Kissinger equation, Bansal equation, and modified Ozawa equation were used for calculating activation energy for crystallization, Ec. The results showed the same activation energies for both glasses with and without TiO2 in the different equations. The shape of maximum exotherm peak and Ozawa equation were used for Avrami exponent, n. The n value for each glass was 2, indicating that each glass crystallized primarily by bulk crystallization.

The heat diffusion equation for an annular fin is analyzed by Laplace transformation. The fin has a uniform thickness, with its end insulated, and three different temperature profiles at the base such as step change, harmonic and exponential functions. The exact solutions for the temperature and heat flux of the fins are obtained with the infinite series. The series solutions converge rapidly for large values of dimensionless time, but slowly for small values. Therefore some approximate solutions are presented here to fine the temperature distribution and heat flux for small values of dimensionless time. Furthermore a simple approximate heat flux, .OMEGA.=1.13c.tau.$^{1}$2/ is found in the range of .tau. .leg. o.1/c for the exponential function at the base.
In order to understand the properties of high heat input welds made by electro gas welding, two kinds of low temperature steel were welded. Welding heat inputs were controlled by width of root gap and ranged from 118 to 143kJ/cm. Chemical composition and micro-structural analysis were performed. To understand low temperature impact properties, Charpy impact test was conducted at several temperatures. The results were summarized as follows; 1) Grain size of weld metal and heat affected zone was increased with an increase in welding heat input. 2) Impact test values at fusion line were severely fluctuated regardless of base metals, showing enormous difference among the values at the same test temperature.

The temperature distribution and cooling rate play an important role in the investigation of heat affected zone of weldment. All the problems such as metallurgical changes, welding thermal stress, welding residual stress and welding deformation in the heat affected zone of welded joint are due to the temperature distribution and cooling rate. In this paper, one dimensional temperature distribution and cooling rate due to transient arc welding heat in the heat affected zone of the base metal are studied. Heat transfer equation for one dimensional heat flow is formed, and solution is obtained. Weld heat input formula is also formed and used. Computed numerical results show a good agreement with the experimented temper color.
