소결온도에 따른 BSCT 후막의 구조적, 유전적 특성 (Structural and Dielectric Properties of BSCT Thick films with Various Sintering Temperature)

  • (Ba$\sub$0.6-x/Sr$\sub$0.4/Ca$\sub$x/)TiO$_3$(BSCT) (x=0.10, 0.15, 0.20) powder, prepared by the sol-Bel method, were mixed with organic binder and then BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen printing techniques on alumina substrates using the BSCT paste. The structural and the dielectric Properties were investigated for various composition ratio and sintering temperature. The second phase appeared in BSCT(40/40/20) thick film sintered at 1450$^{\circ}C$. BSCT thick film thickness, obtained by four printings, was approximately 110∼120$\mu\textrm{m}$. The Curie temperature and dielectric constant at room temperature were decreased with increasing Ca content. The relative dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability of the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen, which was sintered at 1420$^{\circ}C$ and measured at 1MHz, were about 910, 0.46% and 9.28% at 5㎸/cm, respectively.

  • Perovskite structured barium titanate particles ($BaTiO_3$) platelets were synthesized by molten salt synthesis and topochemical microcrystal conversion. As the precursors of $BaTiO_3$, plate-like $BaBi_4Ti_4O_{15}$ particles were first synthesized by the reaction of $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$, $BaCO_3$, and $TiO_2$ at $1080^{\circ}C$ for 3 h in $BaCl_2$-KCl molten salt. After the topochemical reactions, layer-structured $BaBi_4Ti_4O_{15}$ particles transformed to the perovskite $BaTiO_3$ platelets. $BaTiO_3$ particles with thickness of approximately $0.5{\mu}m$ and a length of $10-15{\mu}m$ retained the morphology feature of the $BaBi_4Ti_4O_{15}$ precursor. For <001> $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-32.5PbTiO_3$ (PMNT)-5 wt % PbO piezoelectric ceramics textured with 5 vol % of $BaTiO_3$ templates, the Lotgering factor reached 0.82, and $d_{33}$ was 870 pC/N.

Effects of Pre-synthesized $BaTiO_3$ Addition on the Microstructure and Dielectric/ Piezoelectric Properties of $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{0.94}Ba_{0.06}TiO_3$ Piezoelectric Ceramics

  • Due to the environmental issue vast research is going on to replace the widely used lead contented piezoelectric materials. Bismuth sodium titanate (abbreviated as BNT) based bismuth sodium titanate-barium titanate (abbreviated as BNBT) ceramic was prepared by using modified method rather than conventional mixed oxide method. This modification was made to improve the properties of BNT based ceramic. In this procedure $BaTiO_3$ (abbreviated as BT) was prepared using conventional mixed oxide method. Analytical grade raw materials of $BaCO_3$ and $TiO_2$ were weighted and ball milled using ethanol medium. The mixed slurry was dried and sieved under 80 mesh. Then the powder was calcined at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. This calcined BT powder was used in the preparation of BNBT. Stoichiometric amount of $Bi_2O_3$, $Na_2CO_3$, $TiO_2$ and BT were weighted and mixed by using ball mill. The used calcination temperature was $850^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Calcined powder was taken for another milling step. BNBT disks were pressed to 15 mm of diameter and then cold isostatical press (CIP) was used. Pressed samples were sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The SEM microstructure analysis revealed that the grain shape of the sintered ceramic was polyhedral and grain boundary was well matched where as the sample prepared by conventional method showed irregular arrangement and grain boundary not well matched. And sintered density was better (5.78 g/cc) for the modified method. It was strongly observed that the properties of BNBT ceramic near MPB composition was found to be improved by the modified method compare to the conventional mixed oxide method. The piezoelectric constant dB of 177.33 pC/N, electromechanical coupling factor $k_p$ of 33.4%, dielectric constant $K_{33}^T$ of 688.237 and mechanical quality factor $Q_m$ of 109.37 was found.

유기발포제에 따른 적층형 PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient of Resistance) 써미스터의 전기적 특성 (Electric Properties of the Laminate Type PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient of Resistance) Thermistor According to Polymer Blowing Agent)

  • The electrical properties of a laminated SMD type PTC thermistor for microcircuit protection were investigated as a function of polymer blowing agent addition. Green ceramics for multilayered $BaTiO_3$-based PTCRs were formed by doctor blade method of barium titanate powders; we successfully laminated the sintered ceramic chips to obtain 10 layer chip PTCRs with PTC effect. The sintered density increases with increasing sintering temperature. The electrical properties of the sintered samples were strongly dependent on the calcination and addition of a polymer blowing agent. When $BaTiO_3$ powders containing 0.2 mol% of $Y_2O_3$ were calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs, the resistivity jump was of 1-2 orders of magnitude. The resistivity at room temperature increases according to the polymer blowing agent addition. Also, the sample using the calcined powder showed a lower resistivity than that of the sample prepared using powders without calcinations. With an increase in the OBSH, the magnitude of the resistivity jumped as a function of the temperature increase. The resistivity of the sintered bodies after the addition of 0.5 wt% polymer blowing agent at $1290^{\circ}C$ for 2 h was shown to be about $8.5{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$; the jump order of the sintered bodies was shown to be on the order of $10^2$.

BST 후막의 가변 유전특성과 큐리온도에 관한 연구 (Tunable Dielectric Properties and Curie Temperature with BST Thick Films)

  • The properties of tunable dielectric materials on RF frequency band are important high tunability and low loss for RF variable devices, variable capacitor, phased array antenna and other components application. Various composite of BST(barium strontium titanate) ratio combined with other non-electrical active oxide ceramics have been formulated for such uses. We present the tunable properties and Curie temperature on BST thick films. The grain growth of the weight ratio of $BaTiO_3$ increased. This can be explained by the substitute $Sr^{2+}$ ion for $Ba^{2+}$ ion in the $BaTiO_3$ system. The Curie temperature was shifted to lower temperature with increasing $SrTiO_3$in the $BaTiO_3-SrTiO_3$ system, because of decreasing the lattice constant. Also, the dielectric constant, tunability and K-factor of $(Ba_xSr_{1-x})TiO_3$ at over the Curie temperature decreased, at over the $60^{\circ}C$ fixation, maximum dielectric constant at Curie temperature and hence sharper phase transformation occurred at Curie temperature. The result were interpreted as a process of internal stress relaxation resulting form the increase of $90^{\circ}$ domains induced the BST. As a result, It is concluded that over the Curie temperature, frequency response and DC field effect for the tunable properties of BST thick film are suppressed by the transition broadening. For the application of tunable devices, that the curie temperature was investigated to be increased.

  • 폴리머/세라믹 복합체는 유기기판용 내장형 커패시터의 가장 유망한 재료다. 폴리머/세라믹 복합체의 유효유전상수를 예측하는 것은 복합재료의 설계에 있어 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 크기가 다른 5가지 $BaTiO_3$ 분말을 이용하여 분말함량에 따른 에폭시/$BaTiO_3$ 복합 내장형 커패시터 필름의 유전상수를 측정하였다. 그 측정 결과를 여러 가지 이론식들에 최소 자승법을 이용해 fitting하여 폴리머/세라믹 복합체의 유효유전상수를 예측하는데 가장 유용한 식을 찾고 BaTiO$_3$ 분말의 유전상수를 추정하고자 하였다. Lichtenecker식과 Jayasundere-Smith식이 에폭시/$BaTiO_3$ 복합 내장형 커패시터 필름의 유전상수 예측에 유용한 것으로 나타났다. 피팅을 통해 계산된 $BaTiO_3$ 분말의 유전상수는 분말의 크기에 따라 100 에서 600 사이였는데 이는 다결정 세라믹 $BaTiO_3$의 유전상수보다 작은 값이다.

$BaTiO_3$의 {111}쌍정계면과 강유전 분역의 배향성 (Orientation States of Ferroelectric Domains and {111} Twins in $BaTiO_3$)

  • 강유전성 BaTiO3의 분역 구조를 이해하는 것은 폴링과정에 있어서 대단히 중요하면 대부분의 BaTiO3 세라믹스에서 흔히 발견되는 구조 쌍정 계면에서의 배향관계는 아직까지 보고된 바 없다. 본 연구에서는 {111} 쌍정을 이루고 있는 길정시편을 이용하여 편광현미경하에서 분역구조를 관찰하고, 열처리에 의하여 상전이되는 동안 {111} 쌍정과 강유전성 분역의 거동을 현미경하에서 직접적으로 관찰하였다. {111} 쌍정면 암측으로 대칭적 분역구조가 발될되며, 그 배열 형태는 'V'자 모양과 수직하게 관통하는 것처럼 직선 모양의 두가지 형으로 분류된다. 열처리에 의하여 새로운 분역구조가 형성될때 {111} 쌍정면 주위에서는 대칭적 관계를 유지하면서 분역이 발달되며, 분역형성에 기인하는 표면변형도 {111} 쌍정에 대하여 항상 대칭적으로 발달된다. 이는 {111} 계면에서도 분극반향이 바뀌어지며 "머리-꼬리"의 전지적 안정성의 배향관계를 유지하는 것으로 설명할 수 있다.

Microstructural Characterization and Dielectric Properties of Barium Titanate Solid Solutions with Donor Dopants

  • The correlation between the sintering temperature and dielectric properties in the $Nb^{5+}\;and\;Ta^{5+}$ doped BaTi$O_3$ solid solutions have been investigated. The samples were sintered at temperatures ranging from 1250 to 1350 ${^{\circ}C}$ for 4 h in air. SEM, XRD and SEM/EDS techniques were used to examine the structure of the samples with particular focus on the incorporation of $Nb^{5+}\;and\;Ta^{5+}$ ions into the BaTi$O_3$ crystal lattice. The X-ray diffraction peaks of (111), (200) and (002) planes of BaTi$O_3$ solid solution doped with different fractions of $Nb^{5+}\;and\;Ta^{5+}$ were investigated. The dielectric properties were analyzed and the relationship between the properties and structure of doped BaTi$O_3$ was established. The fine-grain and high density of the doped BaTi$O_3$ ceramics resulted in excellent dielectric properties. The dielectric properties of this solid solutions were improved by adding a small amount of dopants. The transition temperature of the 1.0 mole% $Ta^{5+}$ doped BaTi$O_3$ solid solution was $\sim$110 ${^{\circ}C}$ with a dielectric constant of 3000 at room temperature. At temperatures above the Curie temperatures, the dielectric constant followed the Curie-Weiss law.

무연 BNBT 세라믹스의 압전특성에 미치는 La2O3의 영향 (Effects of La2O3 on the Piezoelectric Properties of Lead-Free (Bi0.5Na0.5)0.94Ba0.06TiO3 Piezoelectric Ceramics)

  • A lead free piezoelectric material, bismuth sodium barium titanate $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{0.94}Ba_{0.06}TiO_3$ (BNBT), was considered as an environment-friendly alternatives for the current PZT system. A perovskite BNBT was synthesized by conventional bulk ceramic processing technique. In order to improve piezoelectric properties, $La_2O_3$ as a dopant was incorporated into the BNBT system up to 0.025 moi, ana the effects on subsequent the piezoelectric ana dielectric properties were systematically investigated. With increasing $La_2O_3$ contents, the equilibrium grain shape was remarkably evidenced and sintered density was increased. Piezoelectric and dielectric properties were s]town to have maximum values at the $La_2O_3$ contents of 0.02 mol. $La^{3+}$ ions seemed to act as a softener in the BNBT system and to enhance dielectric and piezoelectric properties in this study.

$Pr_{2}O_{3}$ 첨가량에 따른 BSCT 세라믹의 미세구조 특성 (Microstructure properties with variation of doped amount $Pr_{2}O_{3}$ of BSCT ceramics)

  • The barium strontium calcium titanate((Ba,Sr,Ca)$TiO_3$) powders prepared by the sol-gel method and $MnCO_3$ as acceptor were mixed oxide method. The microstructure was investigated with variation of $Pr_{2}O_{3}$ amount. The BSCT powder and $Pr_{2}O_{3}$ were mixed with organic vehicle(Ferro. B75001). BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing method on alumina substrates. The bottom electrode was Pt and upper electrode was Ag, respectively. All BSCT thick films were sintered at $1420^{\circ}C$, for 2h. The result of the differential thermal analysis(DTA), exothermic peak at around $654^{\circ}C$ due to the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase. In the X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns, all BSCT thick films showed the typical perovskite polycrystalline structure and no pyrochlore phase was dbserved. The microstructure investigated by scanning electron microscope(SEM). Pore and grain size of BSCT thick films were decreased with increasing amount of $Pr_{2}O_{3}$ dopant. And the average grain size and thickness of BSCT thick films doped with 0.1 mol% $Pr_{2}O_{3}$ was $3.09{\mu}m$, $60{\mu}m$, respectively. The relative dielectric constant decreased and dielectric loss decreased with increasing amount of $Pr_{2}O_{3}$ dopant, the values of the BSCT thick films no doped with $Pr_{2}O_{3}$ were 7443 and 4 % at 1 kHz, respectively.
