  • Using receiver eigenmodes, we perform a time-dependent analysis of optical receivers whose optical inputs are corrupted by the amplified spontaneous emission. We use Gaussian receivers for the analysis with Gaussian input pulses. We find the number of contributing eigenmodes increases as the measurement time moves from the pulse center towards the pulse edges at the output of the optical receiver's electrical filter. This behavior is dependent on the bandwidth ratio between the optical and the electrical filters as well as the input pulse's time width.

  • A novel analytical method based on the cavity mode theory to design a metasurface (MS) is proposed in this study. We carefully analyzed the phase and amplitude characteristics of the incident wave and transmitted wave, and successfully designed a circular polarization conversion MS by introducing a cutting structure with wider operation bandwidth and higher radiation direction gain compared with that of the original MS. For the measurements, a microstrip antenna operating at 2.4 GHz was used as the source antenna to verify the designed MS. The simulation and measurement results agree well with each other.

  • The SYN flooding attack is widely used in cyber attacks because it paralyzes the network by causing the system and bandwidth resources to be exhausted. This paper proposed a self-information approach for detecting the SYN flooding attack and provided a detection algorithm with a hierarchical policy on a detection time domain. Compared with other detection methods of entropy measurement, the proposed approach is more efficient in detecting the SYN flooding attack, providing low misjudgment, hierarchical detection policy, and low time complexity. Furthermore, we proposed a detection algorithm with limiting system resources. Thus, the time complexity of our approach is only (log n) with lower time complexity and misjudgment rate than other approaches. Therefore, the approach can detect the denial-of-service/distributed denial-of-service attacks and prevent SYN flooding attacks.

  • This study presents a novel multilayer structure of parallel coupled-line bandpass filtercentered at 2.42 GHz with a fractional bandwidth value of approximately 19.4%. The designed filter can suppress harmonics with an appropriate frequency response by incorporating different techniques based on the multilayer technique. A combination of different techniques such as radial microstrip stubs and defected ground structure (DGS) and defected microstrip structure techniques are employed to suppress harmonics up to 5f0. These techniques are used in two layers to suppress up to 5f0. In addition, in this study, the effects of different parameters, such as the width of slot-line DGS, the angle of diagonal line slots in the upper layer, and the air gap between the two layers on the filter performance, are investigated. To verify the correct circuit operation, the designed filter is implemented and tested. The measurement results of the proposed filter are compared with the simulation results.

  • This paper studies the design of a CMOS operational amplifier for the switched capacitor filter by computer simulation, and presents the results of measurement. The operational amplifier composed of two stages is fabricated in the CMOS digital process. The DC voltage gain of the operational amplifier is 66dB, and the unity gain bandwidth is 833kHz. These results satisfy the performance requirmance requirements for the operational amplifier of the switched capacitor filter.

  • In this paper, we describe the procedure of simulation design and measured results of a compact planar antenna for handset applications. The broad bandwidth covering the interested frequency band for mobile handset is achieved by introduction of an open ended L-shaped slot which is newly proposed and corresponds to the monopole slot. In order to minimize the impact on circuit part placement, the proposed antenna is placed on the ground plane edge of PCB with size of 60×65 mm2. The measurement result for 10dB impedance bandwidths is 640 MHz (1.7~2.34 GHz), covering the required bandwidths for DCS (Digital Cellular System)-1800 (1710 ~ 1880 MHz) / IMT (International Mobile Telecommunication)-2000 (1885 ~ 2200 MHz) bands. In particular, we would like to emphasize the proposed antenna has an omnidirectional radiation pattern suitable for commercial wireless communication.

  • In this paper, we proposed a simple measurement method to find the behaviors of the fiber-to-waveguide coupler. The polished fiber blocks and planar waveguides on silicon dioxide were fabricated independently and then optically coupled by physical pressure. Several kinds of polymer with different refractive indices were used for waveguide films. The proposed method makes it possible to measure the center wavelength, bandwidth, extinction ratio, and polarization dependence of the coupler during fabrication procedure. The wavelength sensitivity increased with refractive index of polymer. The symmetric planar waveguide structure and isotropic property of guiding materials reduced polarization dependent property. Insertion loss of the coupler was less than 0.5dB. It is expected that our measurement method is useful for developing various optical devices using evanescent coupling between polished fiber and planar waveguide such as optical modulators and filters etc.

  • This paper presents an indirect cutting force measuring system, which uses the current signals from the AC servo drive units of the horizontal machining center, with its applications to the adaptive regulation of the cutting forces in various milling processes and to the on-line monitoring of tool breakage. A typical model for the feed-drive control system of a horizontal machining center is developed to analyze cutting force measurement from the drive motor. The pulsating milling forces can be measured indirectly within the bandwidth of the current feedback control loop of the feed-drive system. It is shown that the indirectly measured cutting force signals can be used in the adaptive controller for cutting force regulation. The whole scheme has been embedded in the commercial machining center and a series of cutting experiments on the face cutting processes are performed. The adaptive controller reveals reliable cutting force regulating capability against the various cutting conditions. It is also shown that the tool breakage in milling can be detected within one spindle revolution by adaptively filtering the current signals. The effect of the cutter run-out has been considered for the reliable on-line detection of tool breakage.

Partial discharge signal measurement sensor suitable for developing a more useful measurements at the scene to this, partial discharge waveform analysis developed a sensor, and to utilize forSensor on the development of the most important is VSWR decided to (voltage standing wave ratio) voltage standing-wave ratio less than 1.5 and decided less than at the full spectrum bands that are measured, this time Return loss, as measured value by absolute criteria 14.0 dB produced the sensor, designed to or more. UHF 1.5~0.5 GHz bandwidth spectrum to be measured in GIS. UHF bands were designed to be able to measure the best signal. Recently, 25.8kV GIS production company has been increasing variety of GIS were made open spacer in partial discharge in accordance with the not very easy to detect the signal. The sensor is designed height of four cm external spacer is attachment GIS in an influx of outside noise measurement, and be so manufactured as to facilitate the least we've done. Also, since partial discharge which occur can measure the frequency of the 170kV GIS external partial-discharge signals that occur at the scene of insulation applied to the spacer. Features, and also derived good results using global positioning. Also measured discharge point about sensors that are stable and the reliability of the development and local substation equipment failure occurring signal analysis through the discharge for the prevention of widely. There should be to believe that used.

  • The industrial foundation of the inside and outside of a country has brought significant damages due to attacks from hackers. Especially, if the national primary core infrastructures(like electric power, dam, railroad, atomic energy, etc.) has been significantly damaged, it can be directly linked not only to economic problems but also to people's lives. These national primary core infrastructures usually constitute SCADA system using Modbus RS486 communication. Because of this characteristic, SCADA system has RTU master and slave linked to RJ11 cables to directly pass commands. RJ11 is possible in data spoofing using physical connection because the transmission range of RJ11 has a wide bandwidth(almost 1km). Hence, this paper designed an idle-time measurement system for SCADA system for emerging security improvement in the national primary core infrastructures.
