  • Wireless Sensor Network typically incorporates diverse applications within the same network. A sensor node may have multiple sensors i.e. light, temperature, seismic etc with different transmission characteristics. Each application has different characteristics and requirements in terms of transmission rates, bandwidth, packet loss and delay demands may be initiated towards the sink. In this paper we propose Heterogeneous Traffic Oriented Rate Control Protocol (HTRCP) which ensures efficient rate control for diverse applications according to the priority specified by the sink. Moreover. HTRCP ensures the node priority based hop by hop dynamic rate adjustment for high link utilization.

  • Future sub-meter resolution LEO missions require simultaneous dual-polarization downlink and/or multiple channel downlinks in single polarization. Especially, dual-polarization is needed to cope with bandwidth limitation due to high speed data transmission. Current KARI 13m X-Band antenna system needs to be upgraded to cope with such downlink schemes. This paper describes brief discussions on engineering work regarding how to meet the new requirements with minimum impact on current system as well as C&M (Control and Monitoring) software.

  • With the exponentially increasing Internet traffic and emergence of more versatile and heterogeneous applications, the design of datacenter networks (DCNs) is subject to unprecedented requirements for larger capacity and more flexible switching granularities. Envisioning Optical-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (O-OFDM) as a promising candidate for such a scenario, we motivate the use of O-OFDM as the underlying switching technology in order to provide sufficient switching capacity and elastic bandwidth allocation. For this purpose, this article reviews the recent progresses of DCN deployment and assesses the scenario where the O-OFDM transmission and switching technology is employed in the underlying transport plane. We discuss the key issues of the datacenter-oriented O-OFDM optical networks, and in particular, elaborate on a number of open issues and solutions including system interconnection architecture, routing and resource assignment, survivability, and energy-efficiency.

  • The large potential bandwidth available in wavelength-division multiplexed optical networks makes this technology of crucial importance for satisfying the ever increasing capacity requirements of the next-generation Internet. In this scenario, the routing and wavelength assignment(RWA) problem that concerns determining the optical paths and wavelengths to be used for connection establishment in a wavelength-routed network, is still one of the most important open issues. In this paper we propose a new online dynamic grooming-capable RWA heuristic scheme working on wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) networks as a multistage selection process. The proposed algorithm is transparent with respect to the presence of wavelength converters, achieves very low connection rejection ratios with minimal computational complexity and is appropriate for the modern multilayer optical circuit and wavelength switched networks with sparse wavelength conversion capability.

  • GPS(Global Positioning System) is widely used in the navigation system, ITS(Intelligence Transportation System), and mobile communications. Recently, it is considered to combine the GPS receiver with the CLONASS for the improvement of performance and accuracy. In this paper, a wideband aperture-coupled patch antenna with circular polarization is designed and implemented for the use of CPS/GLONASS combined receiver. The measured characteristics of the manufactured antenna shows the - l5 dB bandwidth of 220 MHz and the axial ratio less than 2.1 dB, and it satisfies the requirements of the GPS/GLONASS antenna.

  • As the demand for high frequency(bandwidth) optical module of reduced cost is increased, there are considerable needs for low cost/ high reliable optical packaging method. In order to meet these requirements, the researches using silicon optical bench(SiOB) technology have been developed as one of the leading technology. In this paper, we discuss optical package using one aspherical lens mounted on SiOB by passive alignment, and present the reliability data for the optical module, which are temperature cycling between 40C and +85C, and high temperature storage 85C(unbiased), 2000hour.

  • It is necessary that we should control the traffic to not only efficiently use the rich bandwidth of ATM network but also satisfy the users various requirements for service quality. However, it is very difficult to decide which control mechanism would be applied in real network because there are various types of ATM traffic and traffic control mechanisms. In this paper, a smart simulator is developed ot analyze the performance of a UPC(Usage Parameter Control) mechanism which is a typical traffic control mechanism. The simulator consists of a user interface that supports a menu-driven input form and a simulation program that is executed with the users input parameters. Especially, the simulator establishes more powerful and flexible simulation environment since it supports a more complex simulation applying various source traffic to several different UPC mechanisms at the same time and allows an arbitrary user-defined traffic in addition to some well-known traffic.

  • We describe the MiniWeb[7] TCP/IP stack (mIP), which is an extremely small implementation of the TCP/IP protocol suite running 8 or 32-bit micro controllers intended for embedded control systems, and satisfying the subset of RFC1122 requirements needed for hostto-host interoperability over different platforms. Our TCP/IP implementation does sacrifice some of TCP's mechanisms such as fragmentation, urgent data, retransmission, or congestion control. Our implementation is applicable to web based controllers. The network protocols are tested in operational networks using CommView and Dummynet where the various operational parameters such as bandwidth, delay, and queue sizes can be set and controlled.

  • In this paper we introduce a bandwidth allocation algorithm and admission control policy for IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless access standard. The proposed mechanism is practical and compatible to the IEEE 802.16. Our scheme provides QoS support to high priority traffic and high throughput in low priority traffic. The simulation show that the proposed scheme includes QoS support for real-time traffic and we presented that BS determine a efficient contention mini-slot size. We have shown the relationship between traffic size and its QoS requirements and the network performance.

  • A dispersion analysis is performed to estimate the stopband characteristics of electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures with defected ground structures (DGS) of various shapes. Design guidelines are suggested for both elliptical and rectangular DGS patterns that result in a maximum stopband bandwidth for a given perforation area. This method provides a basis for numerical optimization techniques that can be used in synthesizing DGS shapes to meet bandgap requirements and layout constraints.
