To improve the overall performance and realism of your game, it is important to calculate the trajectory of a projectile accurately and quickly. One way to increase realism is to use a ballistic model that takes into account factors such as air resistance, density, and wind when calculating a projectile's trajectory. However, the more these factors are taken into account, the more computationally time-consuming and expensive it becomes, creating a trade-off between overall performance and efficiency. Therefore, we present an optimal solution to find a balance between ballistic model accuracy and computation time. We perform ballistic calculations using numerical methods such as Euler, Velocity Verlet, RK2, RK4, and Akima interpolation, and measure and compare the computation time, memory usage (RSS, Resident Set Size), and accuracy of each method. We show developers how to implement more accurate and efficient ballistic models and help them choose the right computational method for their numerical applications.
In recent years, naval vessels have been developed to fulfill a variety of missions by being equipped with various cutting-edge equipment and ICT technologies. One of the main missions of Korean naval vessels is anti-ballistic missile warfare to defend key units and areas against the growing threat of ballistic missiles. Because the process of detection and interception is too complex and the cost of failure is much high, a lot of preparation is required to effectively conduct anti-ballistic missile warfare. This paper describes the development of a simulation model of anti-ballistic missile warfare with combat systems and equipment to be installed on future naval vessels. In particular, the DEVS formalism providing a modular and hierarchical modeling manner was applied to the simulation model, which can be utilized to efficiently represent various anti-ballistic missile warfare situations. In the simulation results presented, experiments were conducted to analyze the effectiveness of the model for effective detection resource management in anti-ballistic missile warfare. This study is expected to be utilized as a variety of analysis tools necessary to determine the optimal deployment and configuration of combat resources and operational tactics required for effective anti-ballistic missile warfare of ships in the future.
The ballistic missile threat continues to increase with the proliferation of missile technology. In response to this threat, many kinds of interceptors have been emphasized over the years. For development of interceptor, systematic flight tests are essential. Flight tests provide valuable data that can be used to verify performance and confirm the technological progress of ballistic missile defense system including interceptor. However, during flight tests, civilians near the test region could be risk due to a lot of intercept debris. For this reason, reliable estimate of safety area for the flight tests should be preceded. In this study, prediction of safety area is performed through modeling and simulation. Firstly, behaviors of ballistic missile and interceptor are simulated for those entire phase including interception to obtain the relative intercept velocity and the relative impact angle. By using obtained data of kinetic energy, the fragment ejection velocity is calculated and fragment trajectories are simulated by considering drag, gravity and wind effects. Based on the debris field formation and hazard evaluation of debris, final safety area is calculated.

The bulk-planer MOSFET has a scaling limitation due to the short channel effect (SCE). The Double-Gate MOSFET (DG-MOSFET) is a next generation device for nanoscale with excellent control of SCE. The quantum effect in lateral direction is important for subthreshold characteristics when the effective channel length of DG-MOSFET is less than 10nm, Also, ballistic transport is setting important. This study shows modeling and design issues of nanoscale DG-MOSFET considering the 2D quantum effect and ballistic transport. We have optimized device characteristics of DG-MOSFET using a proper value of $t_{si}$ underlap and lateral doping gradient.

This paper proposes the 3D modeling and simulation technique for predicting the integrated performance of combat vehicle. To consider the practical driving and firing condition of a combat vehicle, the full vehicle model, which can define the six degrees-of-freedom of vehicle motion and various firing angles, is developed. The critical design parameters such as the stiffness and damping coefficient of suspension system are applied to construct the analysis model of vehicle. A simple ballistic model, which incorporates the empirical interior ballistic model and the point mass trajectory model, is built to estimate the firing range and the firing recoil force. To predict the integrated performance and analyze the effect of system parameters, MATLAB/SIM-ULINK model of a combat vehicle for performing the real time simulation is also developed. Several simulation tests incorporating the road bump and the firing recoil force are presented to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed vehicle model.
The coupling between the transverse and longitudinal components of the channel electron motion in NMOS devices leads to a reduction in the barrier height. Therefore, this study theoretically investigates the effects of the in-plane velocity of channel electrons on the capacitance-voltage characteristics of nano NMOS devices under inversion bias. Numerical calculation via a self-consistent solution to the coupled Schrodinger equation and Poisson equation is used in the investigation. The results demonstrate that such a coupling largely affects capacitance-voltage characteristic when the in-plane velocity of channel electrons is high. The ballistic transport ensures a high in-plane momentum. It suggests that such a coupling should be considered in the quantum capacitance-voltage modeling in ballistic transport devices.

Positions of tactical objects are represented as Time, Space and Position Information(TSPI) in modeling and simulations(M&S). The format and required information record for TSPI is investigated by referring the TSPI object model of the Test and Training Enabling Architecture(TENA), which has been developed by the United States Department of Defense. The most sophisticated tactical data link, Link-16 has a Precise Participant Location and Information (PPLI) message. We study the data format for exchanging TSPI data based on the PPLI message. To evaluate and track positions of tactical objects, we consider the Kalman filter for linear systems, and the extended Kalman filter and the unscented Kalman filter for nonlinear systems. Based on motion equations of a ballistic missile, the tracking performance for the trajectory of the ballistic missile is simulated by the unscented Kalman filter.

Internal Ballistic modeling and performance prediction for solid propellant micro thruster was performed with heat loss to the chamber wall as an important factor of miniaturization. Simple l-D end-burner type thruster and general HTPB-AP type composite propellant were selected for computation model. The results showed that the performance loss with the heat loss to the surroundings becomes larger as the surface-to-volume ratio is increased. In this case, the total impulse was reduced about 3% of the case in adiabatic condition.

In this study, a thrust modulation through oxidizer mass flow rate control and internal ballistic analysis based on Whitmore and Chandlers' models was conducted on a blow-down hybrid rocket using nitrous oxide. The tank pressure prediction considering mass flow rate control of the self-pressuring oxidizer was conducted, and the results showed good agreements with experimental results. In order to verify the internal ballistic analysis, a ground combustion test using a 500 N class hybrid rocket was conducted, and it was confirmed that the experimental results and the analytical results were quite consistent in the chamber pressure and thrust, thereby, a modeling technique capable of predicting the thrust modulation performance is proposed.
