An Application of the Balanced Quadratic Classification Rule on the Discriminant Analysis in Growth Curve Model (성장곡선모형의 판별분석에서 균형이차분류법의 적용)

  • The problem considered here is to find the optimal discriminant analysis method in growth curve model. It has been studied how to find correct prior probability for the effective classification in discriminant analysis. We use the balanced condition to calculate prior probability. From the informative simulation study, new classification rule for the growth curve model is suggested. The suggested classification rule has better classification result than the other previously suggested method in terms of error rate criterion.

An Influence of Groundwater Flow on Performance of Closed Borehole Heat Exchangers (Part-1) (지하수류가 밀폐형 천공 지중열교환기 성능에 미치는 영향(1))

  • To analyze the influence of various groundwater flow rates (specific discharge) on BHE system with balanced and unbalanced energy loads under assuming same initial temperature (15℃) of ground and groundwater, numerical modeling using FEFLOW was used for this study. When groundwater flow is increased from 1 × 10−7 to 4 × 10−7m/s under balanced energy load, the performance of BHE system is improved about 26.7% in summer and 22.7% at winter time in a single BHE case as well as about 12.0~18.6% in summer and 7.6~8.7% in winter time depending on the number of boreholes in the grid, their array type, and bore hole separation in multiple BHE system case. In other words, the performance of BHE system is improved due to lower avT in summer and higher avT in winter time when groundwater flow becomes larger. On the contrary it is decreased owing to higher avT in summer and lower avT in winter time when the numbers of BHEs in an array are increased, Geothermal plume created at down-gradient area by groundwater flow is relatively small in balanced load condition while quite large in unbalanced load condition. Groundwater flow enhances in general the thermal efficiency by transferring heat away from the BHEs. Therefore it is highly required to obtain and to use adequate informations on hydrogeologic characterristics (K, S, hydraulic gradient, seasonal variation of groundwater temperature and water level) along with integrating groundwater flow and also hydrogeothermal properties (thermal conductivity, seasonal variation of ground temperatures etc.) of the relevant area for achieving the optimal design of BHE system.

  • Almost all injection molds have multi-cavity runner system for mass production, which are designed with geometrically balanced runner system in order to accomplish filling balance between cavity to cavity during processing. However, even though geometrically balanced runner is used, filling imbalance have been observed. Filling imbalance could be decreased by modifying processing conditions such as injections rate, mold temperature, injection pressure, melt temperature that are related to shear, viscosity. In this study, a series of experiment was conducted to investigate filling imbalance variation when modifying runner layout and polymer and to determine which processing condition influences as the primary cause of filling imbalance in geometrically balanced runner system.

  • In this paper, we research a new method for efficiency improvement of a single-phase Induction motor by minimization of the stator loss. To make this, we perform winding design which is based on balanced and quasi-balanced operation condition. It gives efficiency improvement greatly but poor starting torque simultaneously. To obtain the best efficiency improvement maintaining the maximum and starting torque, the optimal winding specification and rotor dimension is determined with variation of secondary resistance, running capacitor and turn ratio. Finally, this paper gives the comparison between the simulation results and experimental results.

  • In this paper, a double lorentz composite right left handed(DL-CRLH) transmission line is designed using defected ground structure (DGS) and varactor diodes. Previously, the diode has been adopted only selectively for one of parallel or series resonators, and the balanced frequency as well as triple band frequencies were fixed. However in the proposed DL-CRLH transmission line, the balanced frequency, where the resonant frequencies of the series-connected parallel resonator and shunt-connected series resonator are the same, is adjustable. In addition, the triple band frequencies are controlled, too. The measured balanced frequency varies between 3.42~4.8GHz according to the controlled bias voltage. Under the same bias condition for the balanced frequency, the adjusted frequencies are 2.22~2.77GHz, 3.7~5.2GHz, 7.32~8.23GHz, 3.42~4.8GHz, and 4.44~5.92GHz for the conditions that ${\beta}d=+0.5{\pi}$, $-0.5{\pi}$, 2nd $+0.5{\pi}$, ${\omega}_{\infty}$, and ${\omega}_o$, respectively.

  • The major purposes of this paper are (1) to explore korean rural planning as subplanning of nation planning and regional planning, (2) to explore functional change of korean rural areas, (3) and suggest appropriate policy for functional change of rural society in Korea. I divided korean rural planning into five periods according to its paradigm shift. In the first period of rural planning lay emphasis on food self-supply, antipoverty and improvement of living condition. In the second period of rural planning lay emphasis on food self-supply, green revolution and income gap mitigation between urban and rural areas. In the third period of rural planning lay emphasis on integrated rural development. In the fourth period of rural planning lay emphasis on multifunctionality of agriculture. In the fifth period of rural planning Korea government announced a new policy and lay emphasis on balanced national development. Food supply used to be most important function of rural areas, but it is weakened in recent days. The role as axis for balanced national development become another important function of rural areas.

  • This study is intended to provide navigator with specific information necessary to assist the avoidance of collision and the operation of ships to evaluate the maneuverability of dead weight tonnage 8,000 tons Oil/Chemical tanker. The actual maneuvering characteristics of ship can be adequately judged from the results of typical ship trials. Author carried out sea trials based full scale for turning test, Z" maneuvering test, man overboard rescue maneuver test, inertia stopping test. Consequently, $2^{st}$ Overshoot yaw angle of the semi balanced rudder and flap rudder in ${\pm}20^{\circ}$ zig-zag test showed $22.2^{\circ}$ and $18.0^{\circ}$, respectively. The maneuverability of the vessel was good in the flap rudder. The man overboard rescue maneuver maneuverability test was most favorable in the flap rudder and the full load condition. The results from tests could be compared directly with the standards of maneuverability of IMO and consequently the maneuvering qualities of the ship is full satisfied with its.

A Study on the Introduction Criteria of Turbo Roundabout by Considering Approach Lane's Traffic Volume (접근로별 교통량을 고려한 터보형 회전교차로도입 기준에 관한 연구)

  • A turbo roundabout is a type of roundabout that allows vehicles to pass through the roundabout without changing lanes by separating the internal lanes. Thus, it has the advantage of minimizing conflicts arising from converging, diverging, and lane changing in existing two-lane roundabouts. In this study, the criteria for introducing a turbo roundabout are suggested by considering traffic volume conditions of the approach lane, and the results were analyzed using a VISSIM. The results showed that the 2-lane roundabout and basic(turbo) are the appropriate types when the approach traffic volume is a balanced condition with 2,000-2,600veh/h. On the other hand, basic(turbo) and egg(turbo) are appropriate types when the approach traffic volume is an unbalanced condition with 2,400-2,800veh/h under the condition of a major road grouped as an opposite combination. The major road is grouped as an adjacent combination when there is an approach volume of 2,000-2,400veh/h, and the knee(turbo) is the appropriate type in this case.

  • The balanced Tx diversity with same data on two antennas can have better or lower performance than STBC Tx diversity, depending on the difference between each phase of two channels when the received signal is processed with MRRC. Therefore, using the feedback information based on the phase estimation in each channels, the better scheme of the balanced Tx diversity and STBC Tx diversity can be selected. However, when the phase condition changes during the transmission as the selected Tx. diversity scheme, the decoded bit can be erroneous because the previously estimated phase and newly estimated phase is different. In this case, the receiver should request the re-transmission of the just received signal to the transmitter part. Through computer simulation, it is shown that the combined scheme of the balanced Tx diversity and STBC Tx. diversity has better performance than STBC Tx diversity.
