  • Traffic information can be broadly categorized into point information and spatial information. Point information can be obtained by chocking only the presence of vehicles at prespecified points(small area), whereas spatial information can be obtained by monitoring large area of traffic scene. To obtain spatial information by image processing, we need to track vehicles in the whole area of traffic scene. Image detector system based on global tracking consists of video input, vehicle detection, vehicle tracking, and traffic information measurement. For video input, conventional approaches used auto iris which is very poor in adaptation for sudden brightness change. Conventional methods for background generation do not yield good results in intersections with heave traffic and most of the early studies measure only point information. In this paper, we propose user-controlled iris method to remedy the deficiency of auto iris and design flame difference-based background generation method which performs far better in complicated intersections. We also propose measurement method for spatial traffic information such as interval volume/lime/velocity, queue length, and turning/forward traffic flow. We obtain measurement accuracy of 95%∼100% when applying above mentioned new methods.

  • Background: Residual stress always exists on any kind of welded area. This residual stress can cause the welded material to crack or fracture. For many years, the hole-drilling method has been widely used for measuring residual stress. However, this method is destructive. Nowadays, electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) can be used to measure residual stress with or without the hole-drilling method. ESPI is an optical nondestructive testing methods that use the speckle effect. Mechanical properties can be measured by calculation of the phase difference by the variation of temperature, pressure, or loading force. Methods: In this paper, the residual stress on the butt-welded area is measured by using ESPI with a suggested numerical calculation. Two types of specimens are prepared. Type I is made of pure base metal part and type II has a welded part at the center. These specimens are tensile tested with a material test system. At the same time, the ESPI system was applied to this test. Results: From the results of ESPI, the elastic modulus and the residual stress around the welded area can be calculated and estimated. Conclusion: With this result, it is confirmed that the residual stress on the welded area can be measured with high precision by ESPI.

  • Recently, the spread of deep learning environments has increased the importance of dataset generation. In this paper, we aim to design and implement a method for capturing rotating images of objects and performing object tracking on them for efficient dataset generation. The method implemented in this paper is to obtain image data by rotating objects to capture multiple angles of objects, detect and track objects through background removal and difference image processing techniques, showing them on screen to monitor object tracking results in the current frame. It was then implemented to return object location data within the image for use as a dataset.

  • This paper investigates the effects of the existing sealing methods, such as the conventional atmospheric-pressure sealing method and vacuum sealing, on temporal bright-image sticking. To produce a residual image caused by temporal brightimage sticking, the entire region of a 42-in panel with an Xe-(11%)-He(35%) gas mixture was abruptly changed to a full-white background image after displaying a square-type image at peak luminance for about 60s. From the monitoring of the difference in the display luminance, infrared emission, color temperature, and disappearing time between the cells with and without temporal bright-image sticking, it was observed that the vacuum sealing method contributes to the reduction of temporal bright-image sticking.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm to automatically detect gait's joints. The proposed method classifies gait's types into front gait and flank gait so as to automatically detect gait's joints. And then according to classified types, the proposed applies joint extracting algorithm to input images. Firstly, we split input images into foreground image using difference images of Hue and gray-scale image of input and background one and extract gait's object. The proposed method classifies gaits into front gait and flank gait using ratio of Face's width to torso's width. Then classified gait's type, joints are detected 10 at front gait and detected 7~8 at flank gait. The proposed method is applied to the camera's input and the result shows that the proposed method automatically extracts joints.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive method of tracking multiple moving objects using contour and features in surrounding conditions. We use an adaptive background model for robust processing in surrounding conditions. Object segmentation model detects pixels thresholded from local difference image between background and current image and extracts connected regions. Data association problem is solved by using feature extraction and object recognition model in searching window. We use Kalman filters for real-time tracking. The results of simulation show that the proposed method is good for tracking multiple moving objects in highway image sequences.

  • A robust scheme of locating and counting the number of vehicles m urban traffic scenes, a core component of vision-based traffic monitoring systems, is presented The method is based on the evidential reasoning, where vehicle evidences m the background subtraction Image are obtained by a new locally optimum thresholding, and the evidences are merged by three heuristic rules using the geometric constraints The locally optimum thresholding guarantees the separation of bright and dark evidences of vehicles even when the vehicles are overlapped or when the vehicles have similar color to the background Experimental results on diverse traffic scenes show that the detection performance is very robust to the operating conditions such as the camera location and the weather The method may be applied even when vehicle movement is not observed since a static Image IS processed without the use of frame difference.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to identify the comparison of the muscle contractile properties on lower extremity between non-injury and injury in subjects with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Methods: Twenty-four subjects on the post-operative ACLR participated in this study. Measurement method were using tensiomygraphy to analyze the displacement maximum(Dm) and contraction time(Tc) on the both quadriceps. Results: Compared difference of the Dm between non-injury and injury, the rectus femoris (RF) and vastus lateralis (VL) increased significantly (p<.01). However, vastus medialis (VM) no significantly difference between non-injury and injury. Compared difference of the Tc between non-injury and injury, the RF increased significantly (p<.01) but VL and VM no significantly difference between non-injury and injury. Conclusions: These findings suggest that occurred muscle atrophy of the RF and VL and change properties of muscle fibers on the RF from fast muscle fibers to slow muscle fibers on the injury side of post-operative ACLR. Therefore, when apply to rehabilitation of lower extremity for post-operative ACLR, we should consider the enhance of RF and VL on injury side.
