  • The mechanism of the blowhole and the pit formation in lap-jointed fillet CO₂ arc welds of Zn-coated steel sheet was established by the direct observation of the gas behavior in the molten pool with the high speed camera system. Main conclusions obtained are as follows1) Some blowholes were formed by incomplete back-filling to the pits at the last stage of the solidification. This type of blowhole was formed through four stages of gas in the molten pool, incubation, explosion, back-filling and completion of back-filling stage.2) Most of the pits was back-filled at the last stage of their formation. • The demand for a rear reflective material is continuing according to the expansion of the bifacial soar module and the effect on the re-reflection of the ground using a back sheet that is not used due to the increase in the supply of the bifacial solar module was confirmed. For analysis, a bifacial solar module with an output of 445W was connected to a single inverter of 49.84kW, and analysis of each two inverters was carried out. In the analysis of the results, it was confirmed that the generation amount increased by 5.25% compared to the case where the back sheet reflective film was not installed and it was confirmed that the increase in the generation amount was the noon time when strong solar radiation was irradiated, not the time of sunrise and sunset.

  • The controlling and prediction of spring back is one of the most important factors in sheet metal forming processes which require high dimensional precision. The relationship between effective parameters and spring back phenomenon is highly nonlinear and complicated. Moreover, the objective function is implicit with regard to the design variables. In this paper, first the influence of some effective factors on spring back in U-die bending process was studied through some experiments and then regarding the robustness of artificial neural network (ANN) approach in predicting objectives in mentioned kind of problems, ANN was used to estimate a prediction model of spring back. Eventually, the spring back angle was optimized using the Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA). The results showed that the employment of ANN provides us with less complicated and time-consuming analytical calculations as well as good results with reasonable accuracy.

  • A major source of difficulty in die design for high strength steel is the high level of elastic recovery during unloading. The degree of elastic recovery is affected by factors such as material strength, bending angle, punch's corner radius and sheet thickness. Finite Element Method was used in the present work to quantitatively analyze the elastic recovery for various combinations of these parameters. In some cases elastic recovery happened in reverse direction. This phenomenon, which we call spring-go, was explained via changes in stress distribution in the panel occurring in the forming process.

  • Incremental sheet forming (ISF) is a highly versatile and flexible process for rapid manufacturing of complex sheet metal parts. Compared to conventional sheet forming processes, ISF is of a clear advantage in manufacturing small batch or customized parts. ISF needs die-less machine alone, while conventional sheet forming requires highly expensive facilities like dies, molds, and presses. This equipment takes long time to get preparation for manufacturing. However, ISF does not need the full facilities nor much cost and time. Because of the facts, ISF is continuously being used for small batch or prototyping manufacturing in current industries. However, spring-back induced in the process of incremental forming becomes a critical drawback on precision manufacturing. Since sheet metal, being a raw material for ISF, has property to resilience, spring-back would come in the case. It is the research objective to investigate how geometrical shaping parameters make effect on shape dimensional errors. In order to analyze the spring-back occurred in the process, this study experimented on Al 1015 material in the ISF. The statistical tool employed experimental design with factors. The table of orthogonal arrays of $L_8(2^7)$ are used to design the experiments and ANOVA method are employed to statistically analyze the collected data. The results of the analysis from this study shows that the type of shape and the slope of bottom are the significant, whereas the shape size, the shape height, and the side angle are not significant factors on dimensional errors. More error incurred on the pyramid than on the circular type in the experiments. The sloped bottom showed higher errors than the flat one.

  • Aluminum alloys are widely used in automotive industry because of their high strength-to-density ratio and excellent corrosion resistance. However, conventional cold stamping of aluminum alloys leads to low formability and excessive spring-back. To overcome these problems, Hot Forming Quenching (HFQ) is applied to manufacture automotive part using aluminum alloy. The purpose of this study is to investigate effect of forming temperature on spring-back in HFQ of T6 heat treated AA6061 sheet. In this study, hat shape forming test was adopted to evaluate spring-back characteristics according to various forming temperatures. In additions, the test was also performed with warm forming conditions in comparison with dimensional accuracy of HFQed part. The experimental results showed that dimensional accuracy of HFQed part was superior to warm formed part and amount of spring-back was decreased as forming temperature rise.
