Study of properties of $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ with PbO and $BapbO_3$ additives

  • The melting temperature and critical temperature(Tc) of $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ with deferent content impurities of PbO and $BaPbO_3$ were studied. When the PbO was used as addition in $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$, although the melting point could be reduced, the superconductivity(the transition width, ${\Delta}T_c$) became poor. From the XRD pattern of the sintered mixture of $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ and PbO it was known that there is a reaction between $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ and PbO, and the product is $BaPbO_3$. In the process of the reaction the superconducting phase of $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ was decreased and in the sample $BaPbO_3$ became the main phase. Therefore the superconductivity was reduced. $BaPbO_3$ was chosen as the impurity for the comparative study. The single phase BaPbO3 was synthesized by the simple way from both mixtures of $BaPbO_3$ and PbO, $BaPbO_3\;and\;PbO_2$. Deferent contents of $BaPbO_3$(10%, 20%, 30%) were added in the $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$. By the phase analysis in the XRD patterns it was proved that there werenot reactions between $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ and $BaPbO_3$. When $BaPbO_3$ was used as impurity in $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ the superconductivity was much better than PbO as impurity in $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$. But the melting point of $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ with $BaPbO_3$ could not be found when the temperature was lower than $1000^{\circ}C$ in the DTA measurement.

When $BaPbO_3$ was used as impurity in $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ the superconductivity was much better than PbO as an impurity additive in $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$.

  • While sintering the Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3-BaTiO3 system through solid-reaction route, pyrochlore(Pb3Nb4O13) phase while reduces the dielectric constant is inevitably formed. Substitution of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 with PbTiO3 and BaTiO3 can retard the occurrence of pyrochlore phase. The perovskite solid-solution without containing pyrochlore phase can be obtained when we consolidated the materials consisting of PbTiO3 and BaTiO3 at 1200℃ for 2 hours. The sintered body composed of 0.8Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.1PbTiO3-0.1BaTiO3 composition showed the diffused phase transition(DPT) phenomena and the maximum value of dielectric constant at 0℃ (Tc') with the value of 1.3×104.

  • In this study (Ba1-xPbx)TiO3 was synthesized by modified oxalate process in order to prevent vaporization of PbO through low temperature synthesis climinate Cl ion reproducibly substitute Pb for by and uniformly distribute ion (Ba1-xPbx)TiO3 was synthesized by coprecipitation of lead acetate barium acetate and ammonium titanyl oxalate have been used as starting materials. The substitution of Pb for Ba was reproducibly possible synthetic temperature of perovskite structure becomes lowed as the Pb concentration increases and fine partic-les (specific surface are :7.2 cm2/g) were obtained, BaTiO3 powders calcined at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours were cubic from in XRD analysis and as Pb content was increases evident split of tetragonal peaks could be observed The optimum conditions to synthesize (Ba,Pb)TiO3 powder are the followings ; synthesis temperature (5$^{\circ}C$)

  • Dielectric properties and the stability of the perovskite phase in the Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 system have been investigated as a function of amount of BaTiO3 and firing temperature. In the specimens fired at 120$0^{\circ}C$, the pyrochlore phase was eliminated by the addition of 10-15m/o BaTiO3 and also the dielectric constant increased. However, the dielectric constant decreased with further addition of BaTiO3 even though no pyrochlore phase was found to be present. The reducing tendency of the pyrochlore phase decreased with lowering the firing temperature in the system of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 with BaTiO3. Dielectric properties in PMN ceramics were affected by the character of the BaTiO3 rather than the pyrochlore phase.

  • The effects of Pb5Ge3O11 on the sinterbility and lattice variation of the semiconducting 0.15 mol% Y2O3 doped BaTiO3 have been investigated as functions of additive contents (from 0.25 mol% to 2.5 mol%) and sintering temperatures (from 110$0^{\circ}C$ to 130$0^{\circ}C$). As the amount of Pb5Ge3O11 increases, the sinterbility of BaTiO3 increases abruptly at around 115$0^{\circ}C$. During the sintering, the most of Pb+2 ions in additives penetrate into BaTiO3 lattices and Ge+4 ions present at grain boundaries. Therefore the c lattice of the BaTiO3 increases largely and then the tetragonality increases due to the diffusion of the Pb+2 ions.

  • Ferroelectric anomaly in PbO-{{{{ { {B }_{2 }O }_{3 } }}-{{{{ {TiO }_{3 } }}-BaO glasses which is observed in DAT measurements was in-vestigated together with the effect of BaO content on the shift of Cuire temperature. The temperature where the ferroelectric anomaly apperars on cooling in DTA decreased in proportion with increasing BaO content,. For as-crystallized samples the ferroelectric anomaly was not observed on heating but on cooling whilist for powder samples leached chemically from the crystallized samples both endothermic and ex-otehrmic peaks were observed. This fact suggests that the appearance of the ferroelectric anomaly in DAT largely depends on glassy phases surrounding individual {{{{ {PbTiO }_{3 } }} crystals rather than effects of grain size and crystallinity.

  • [ $YBa_2Cu_3Ox$ ](YBCO) oxide superconductor was prepared by sol-gel method to improve its superconducting properties, and it was made to be a fine powder, which has the same property of solid state reacted powder. $BaPbO_3$ was synthesized with $BaCO_3$, BaO, PbO, and $PbO_2$ and analyzed by XRD. YBCO superconductor was prepared by use of sol-gelled YBCO powder and additive $BaPbO_3$ and its critical temperature and transition temperature were shown as 91.9 K, 3.7 K respectively in case 20 wt.% $BaPbO_3$ was added to pure sol-gelled YBCO powder.
