  • The purpose of this study is to develop an intervention program for improvement of elementary science-poor students' Basic Science Process Skill (BSPS) and to validate the intervention program's effectiveness using eye-tracker. The participants of this study were 35 elementary science-poor students. This study's method was the analysis of real-time eye movements during basic science process skill problem solving. SMI's 120 Hz iView XTM RED was used to collect EMD (eye movement data). Experiment 3.4 and BeGaze 3.4 programs were used to design experiment and to analyze EMD. The results of this study are as follows. First, we developed an intervention program including BSPS instructional strategy, behavior of teachers & student according instructional strategy stage, teachinglearning plan and learning note. Second, science poor students' BSPS ability has improved statistically significantly through the application of intervention program and BSPS problem-solving time decreased statistically significantly. Third, AFT (average fixation time) of BSPS Question and keyword area decreased statistically significantly. Fourth, APD (average pupil diameter) of BSPS problem-solving process expanded statistically significantly. Fifth, AST (average saccade time) of BSPS problem-solving process increased statistically significantly. Sixth, AFET (average fixation entry time) of BSPS problem-clue area was accelerated statistically significantly, AFT of BSPS problem-clue area reduced statistically significantly.

  • We synthesized three different derivatives of bis-spiropyran using simple organic reactions with high yields. BSP1, a derivative of bis-spiropyran having a connection at the position 6' and BSP2, a derivative of bis-spiropyran having a connection at the position 5 and BSP3, a derivative of bis-spiropyran containing a dithienylethene group between two spiropyran moieties were synthesized. The optical properties of BSPs were characterized. UV-Vis spectra showed that BSPs exhibit reversible photo-isomerization and the efficiency of photo-isomerization is highly dependent on the position of nitro group. BSPs having nitro group at para position of hydroxy group showed the higher efficiency of photo-isomerization that the one having nitro group at ortho position. The optical microscope images obtained under ultraviolet or visible light exposure demonstrated that the formation of nanorods can be reversibly controlled by optical signal.

  • The data deduplication technique identifies the duplicates and minimizes the redundant storage data in the backup server. The chunk level deduplication plays a significant role in detecting the appropriate chunk boundaries, which solves the challenges such as minimum throughput and maximum chunk size variance in the data stream. To provide the solution, we propose a new chunking algorithm called Dynamic Prime Chunking (DPC). The main goal of DPC is to dynamically change the window size within the prime value based on the minimum and maximum chunk size. According to the result, DPC provides high throughput and avoid significant chunk variance in the deduplication system. The implementation and experimental evaluation have been performed on the multimedia and operating system datasets. DPC has been compared with existing algorithms such as Rabin, TTTD, MAXP, and AE. Chunk Count, Chunking time, throughput, processing time, Bytes Saved per Second (BSPS) and Deduplication Elimination Ratio (DER) are the performance metrics analyzed in our work. Based on the analysis of the results, it is found that throughput and BSPS have improved. Firstly, DPC quantitatively improves throughput performance by more than 21% than AE. Secondly, BSPS increases a maximum of 11% than the existing AE algorithm. Due to the above reason, our algorithm minimizes the total processing time and achieves higher deduplication efficiency compared with the existing Content Defined Chunking (CDC) algorithms.

  • The purpose of this paper is to design Conformance Test Suite for BSP(Biometric Service Provider) based on BioAPI(Biometric Application Programming Interface) v2.0. The proposed BioAPI Conformance Test Suite enables users to test BSP with framework independently. A test scheduling tool has been embodied to use Test Assertion in the form of XML. In order to demonstrate the performance of the Conformance Test Suite, the experiment was performed by using both verification and identification BSPs. As the results of this experiment, we were able to determinate whether BSPs based on BioAPI v2.0 satisfied standard requirements or not.
