A study on preferable contents depending on regions and terminal types for high speed mobile internet (초고속 무선인터넷에서 폰형과 모뎀형 단말기의 이용장소에 따르는 선호 콘텐츠에 관한 연구)

  • The object of study is what kinds of contents are preferable depending on regions and terminal types for high speed mobile internet. We consider 10 contents, 9 region2, and 2 terminal types. The methods are the adjusted residuals, the corresponding analysis, and the multiple corresponding analysis. The results are different, which comes from different mathematical models. 50% of results are same between the corresponding analysis and the multiple corresponding analysis. 26.3% are same between the adjusted residuals and the corresponding analysis. 21.1% are same between the adjusted residuals and the multiple corresponding analysis. We recommend the adjusted residuals because it can test hypothesis for preferring contents. The content which is not chosen by three methods is business.

Capacity Analysis of IEEE802.16j MMR System Using Directional Antenna (지향성 안테나를 사용하는 IEEE802.16j 멀티 홉 릴레이 시스템의 용량 분석)

  • In this paper, we propose the structures of the NBTC (Narrow-Beam Trisector Cell) and the WBTC(Wide-Beam Trisector Cell) in which directional antennas both at the base station and at the relay station are used. We analyze and compare total capacity of the both systems taking the co-channel interference into consideration for two channel models. Through analysis, we find the effect of LOS (Lind of Sight) path to the total capacity of NBTC structure and that of WBTC structure. Our work may be useful as a guideline to control the interference for the next generation mobile communication and WiBro systems using multi-hop relays.

  • This paper proposes low latency handover procedure for seamless connectivity and QoS support between wired (e.g. Ethernet) and wireless (e.g. WLAN, WiBro(802.16-compatible), CDMA) networks by the mobile-assisted and server-initiated handover strategy. It is assumed that the server decides the best target network considering network status and user preferences. In this procedure, a mobile terminal associates with the wireless link decided at the server in advance and receives CoA as well. When handover occurs without the prediction in wired networks, the server performs fast binding update using physical handover trigger through the MIH (media independent handover) function. As a result, a mobile terminal does not need to perform L2 and L3 handover during handover so that this procedure decreases handover latency and loss.

Design of a Multiple Band-notched Wideband Circular Slot Antenna with Arc-shaped Slots

  • A design method to achieve multiple band-rejection characteristics in a wideband circular slot antenna is presented. First, a wideband circular slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide is designed to operate in the frequency range between 2.3 and 11GHz, which covers WLAN, WiBro, WiMAX, and UWB frequency bands. Next, resonant frequency variations of rejection bands are examined with respect to different slot locations and lengths when slots are inserted on the ground conductor and the circular patch of the antenna. When arc-shaped slots are placed close to the circular transition from a feeding part, multiple notch bands are obtained. In this case, a half of the guided wavelength of the first notch band corresponds to the slot length and other notch bands are integer-multiple of the first band. Single notch band can be obtained when the slot is located off the transition part. Based on this study, a wideband circular slot antenna with five band-rejection frequency bands at 2.45, 3.5, 4.9, 7.35, and 9.8GHz is designed and fabricated. The first arc-shaped slots are located in the ground conductor close to the circular transition from a feeding part to generate notch bands at 2.45, 4.9, 7.35, and 9.8GHz, while the second slot for 3.73 GHz is placed on top side in the circular patch. The proposed design method is validated by good agreement between the simulated and measured results.

Intra MB Prediction Mode Decision Method for Fast MPEG-2 to H.264/AVC Transcoding (고속 MPEG-2-H.264/AVC 변 환부호화를 위한 화면내 MB 예측 모드 결정 기법)

  • Since the high quality digital TV systems are broadly deployed in the market, the digital video contents will be edited and distributed in MPEG-2 MP@HL fonnat. Due to its impressive coding efficiency, the H.264/AVC codec has rapidly replaced the MPEG-4 SP codec for mobile digital video terminal with low quality. For the bro ad distribution of digitial video contents produced in MPEG-2 format, the MPEG-2 to H.264/AVC transcoding is highly necessary nowadays. In this paper, we propose a fast intra MB prediction mode decision method to reduce the computational complexity in the transcoding, which is the main bottleneck in the transcoders. The proposed method is based on the several relationships such as DCT coefficients and edge orientation, correlation between prediction directions in the $Intra16{\times}16$ and $Intra4{\times}4$ modes, correlation between edge-orientations of luminance an d chrominance components. The simulation results show that the proposed method can reduce the computational complexity upto 70% and 40%, compared with the cascaded transcoder and the well-known fast intraframe transc oder, respectively.

  • 국내 차세대 이동통신 산업은 1994년 세계 최초 CDMA 상용화에 이은 CDMA2000 및 W-CDMA 구축, 세계 최초 최고의 무선 인터넷 기술인 WiBro기술의 개발 및 보급, 꿈의 통신으로 여겨지는 3.9세대 LTE시스템 구축과 보급으로 세계 최고의 뛰어나 기술력을 가진 산업으로 발전하였다. 이러한 우수한 국내 이동 통신 인프라는 기존의 조선 및 선박과 같은 전통산업과 바이오 및 의료기기와 같은 신산업과의 융합을 통하여 국가 경쟁력 한층 더 향상 시키는데 기여하였다. 또한 휴대폰분야에서도 국내 기업이 세계 최고의 경쟁력을 가진 기업으로 성장하는 등, 차세대이동통신 산업은 타 산업과 달리 기술의 빠른 추종자 (Fast Follower)에서 기술 선도자 (First Mover)로서의 지위를 가지게 되었다. 그러나, 이동통신 시스템 분야에서는 이미 중국 업체가 세계적으로 약진하고 있으며, 휴대폰 분야에서는 선도 기업과의 경쟁 및 견제, 후발 주자인 중국 및 대만 기업의 추격에 직면하고 있다. 한편 국내 휴대폰관련 중소 중견기업은 급격한 단말 환경변화에 따라 많은 어려움에 처해 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 차세대 이동통신 기술 선도자로서 지속적인 경쟁력 확보 및 대-중소기업 동반성장 생태계 조성을 통한 모바일 최강국 달성을 위한 이동통신 분야 국가 연구 개발 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 먼저 제I장에서는 차세대이동통신의 개념 및 분류 기준에 대하여 알아보고, 제II장에서는 차세대이동통신에 대한 국내외 현황과 국내 기술 수준 및 기술 경쟁력을 고찰한다. 제III장에서는 기술 선도자로서의 차세대이동통신 분야의 비젼을 제시하고, 이러한 비젼을 실현시키기 위한 국가연구개발 추진 전략을 제시한다. 마지막으로 제IV장에서는 우리나라 이동통신 미래상과 함께 국가연구개발 전략에 대한 결론을 맺는다.

  • Extension of the mobile communication and the rapidly developing services connected with wireless multimedia(W-CDMA, DMB, Wibro, and so on) need great many base station transceiver systems, antennas, and many signal transmission line to embody these services. The min communication appliances system is exposed always in danger of transient overvoltage by direct stroke or induced lightning surge flowing in through antenna because the antenna of base station transceiver system or relay equipment is combined with expensive communication network equipments through signal transmission line. Now, gas discharge tube(GDT) or narrow band stub arrestor which is used by the surge protector for communication use is exposing limitations as for lightning surge protective means of the communication facility with high speed and wide frequency band. Therefore, for improving performance of surge arrestor, we applied ceramic filter which can reduce lightning surge invading from antenna effectively, and proved that ceramic filter is effective in residual voltage reduction through the experimental research.

  • 우리 경제의 성장잠재력 저하에 대한 우려가 심화되는 상황에서 국민소득 2만불 시대 견인을 위해 2004년 수립한 IT 산업 발전전략이 IT839이다. 신성장동력 핵심기술 개발 등 IT839전략에 힘입어 세계 최초로 WiBro, DMB 기술개발과 국제표준화에 성공하는 등 IT분야 기술개발을 주도하여, 선진국과의 기술격차가 1년 이상 단축되었으며, 특히, 이동통신 DIV 분야는 미국, 일본 등 선진국 수준으로 경쟁력이 향상되는 성과를 보았다. 한편, 최근 IT를 둘러싸고 있는 환경은 IT를 기반으로한 융복합화 진전, 글로벌화 심화, 인터넷 확산과 웹의 진전이다. 2008년에는 이런 환경변화 속에서 IT산업의 지속적인 성장을 위한 전략을 수립.추진할 계획이다. 무선 융합환경에서 신시장 창출 및 선점, 고부가가치 IT산업의 집중 육성, IT중소기업, 핵심인력 양성 등 경쟁력 향상을 위한 기반 구축도 강화한다. IT R&D 정책은 기초 원천기술분야 R&D 투자비중을 확대하고, IT와 비IT융합 등 융합분야 기술개발 투자도 확대할 것이다. 혁신형 IT 중소기업 육성을 위해 민간 정책협력 네트워크인 IT전문협의회 운영을 개선하고, 중소기업의 원가절감을 위한 공통서비스 확대, 대 중소 기업의 상생협력을 제도화는 등 IT정책 인프라도 고도화한다. 또한, 반도체, 디스플레이 이후의 글로벌 주력품목군으로 IT SoC, u-센서, IT-BT-NT 융합분야 등 3대 핵심분야를 선정하여 집중 육성하고, 부품기업간 협업 활성화를 적극 유도할 것이다. 시장이 원하는 글로벌 수준의 인재양성을 목표로 공학교육인증 확산, IT 융합분야를 중심으로 대학의 R&D 지원도 강화하며, 전공역략을 갖춘 IT 전문인력, 석박사급 핵심 연구개발 인력, IT재직자 교육 등 시장이 원하는 맞춤형 인력양성도 병행 추진한다. 마지막으로 SW산업의 글로벌 경쟁력을 제고하고 신시장 창출을 위해 노력도 강화한다. 조선, 자동차 등 비 IT분야의 SW활용을 확산하기 위한 선도프로젝트를 추진하고, 틈새분야 중 세계적 시장점유율을 갖춘 중소기업 제품에 임베디드SW를 탑재하여 첨단기능을 구현하는 시범사업도 적극 추진할 계획이다.

Development of the Data Communication based Future Air Base Defence Operation Model (데이터통신 기반 차세대 기지방어작전 모델 개발)

  • As Air Base Defence, Anti-Aircraft Defence and Nuclear-Biological-Chemical Protection model considered as ground operation models in Republic of Korea Air Force are designed as the voice-centered system between participant nodes, there is a problem communicating accurately. In recent years, the military is developing a command and control capability using data communication technology to solve the problem. Therefore, this paper proposes new model to maximize efficiency of performance improvement through the Data Communication-based Future Air Base Defence Model. We refer to a research paper that is related existing and developed new model. and then we really experimented under WiBro Network that is constructed to Air Base for maintenance control. Based on the analysis and the test result of new Air Base Defence Model, we have concluded that the performance improvement effect is reached.

Comparisons between UPML and Liao's ABC in the FDTD method for 2D Cylindrical Coordinates (2D 원통형 좌표계를 위한 FDTD 방법에서 UPML과 Liao 흡수경계조건의 비교)

  • In this paper, the comparison between UPML and Liao's absorbing boundary condition in the FDTD(Finite-Difference Time-Domain) method was performed for the analysis of the 2D cylindrical coordinate system. Generally, it is known as the absorbing characteristics of the UPML is bro than Liao's absorbing boundary condition in the 2D rectangular coordinate. The simulation results in this paper showed that Liao's original absorbing boundary condition is better than other two absorbing boundary conditions, Liao's modified condition and UPML. We concluded that more numerical, theoretical studies, simulations and verifications for various absorbing boundary conditions will be needed to get more accurate results for the design of useful 2D cylindrical microwave circuits.
