Dynamic Neural Unit"(DNU) based upon the topology of a reverberating circuit in a neuronal pool of the central nervous system. In this thesis, we present a genetic DNU-control scheme for unknown nonlinear systems. Our methodis different from those using supervised learning algorithms, such as the backpropagation (BP) algorithm, that needs training information in each step. The contributions of this thesis are the new approach to constructing neural network architecture and its trainin.

In this study, the problems in the short term stock market forecasting are analyzed and the feasibility of the ARIMA method and the backpropagation neural network is discussed. Neural network and genetic algorithm in short term stock forecasting is also examined. Since the backpropagation algorithm often falls into the local minima trap, we optimized the backpropagation neural network and established a genetic algorithm based on backpropagation neural network for forecasting model in order to achieve high forecasting accuracy. The experiments adopted the korea composite stock price index series to make prediction and provided corresponding error analysis. The results show that the genetic algorithm based on backpropagation neural network model proposed in this study has a significant improvement in stock price index series forecasting accuracy.

The object recognition mechanism of human being is not well understood yet. On research of animal experiment using an ape, however, neurons that respond to simple shape (e.g. circle, triangle, square and so on) were found. And Hypothesis has been set up as human being may recognize object as combination of such simple shapes. That mechanism is called Figure Alphabet Hypothesis, and those simple shapes are called Figure Alphabet. As one way to research object recognition algorithm, we focused attention to this Figure Alphabet Hypothesis. Getting idea from it, we proposed the feature extraction algorithm for object recognition. In this paper, we described recognition of binarized images of multifont alphabet characters by the recognition model which combined three-layered neural network in the feature extraction algorithm. First of all, we calculated the difference between the learning image data set and the template by the feature extraction algorithm. The computed finite difference is a feature quantity of the feature extraction algorithm. We had it input the feature quantity to the neural network model and learn by backpropagation (BP method). We had the recognition model recognize the unknown image data set and found the correct answer rate. To estimate the performance of the contriving recognition model, we had the unknown image data set recognized by a conventional neural network. As a result, the contriving recognition model showed a higher correct answer rate than a conventional neural network model. Therefore the validity of the contriving recognition model could be proved. We'll plan the research a recognition of natural image by the contriving recognition model in the future.
The fuzzy-neural hybrid control system utilizing the fuzzy-neural network(FNN) will be presented in this paper. The basic structure of the controller is the parallel combination of a conventional P-controller and a FNN. Such a combination can guarantee the stability of a plant at initial stage before the rules are completely created. And a method how to automatically tunning the parameters of the FNN will be proposed with error back-propagation(BP) algorithm. Finally the effectiveness of the proposed strategy will be verified by computer simulations using a two DOF robot manipulator.

In this paper, we suggest a optimal design method of Fuzzy-Neural Networks model for complex and nonlinear systems. FNNs have the stucture of fusion of both fuzzy inference with linguistic variables and Neural Networks. The network structure uses the simpified inference as fuzzy inference system and the BP algorithm as learning procedure. And we use a clustering algorithm to find initial parameters of membership function. The parameters such as membership functions, learning rates and momentum coefficients are easily adjusted using the genetic algorithms. Also, the performance index with weighted value is introduced to achieve a meaningful balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model. To evaluate the performance index, we use the time series data for gas furnace and the sewage treatment process.
We consider the problem of constructing observers for nonlinear systems with unknown inputs. Connectionist networks, also called neural networks, have been broadly applied to solve many different problems since McCulloch and Pitts had shown mathematically their information processing ability in 1943. In this thesis, we present a genetic neuro-control scheme for nonlinear systems. Our method is different from those using supervised learning algorithms, such as the backpropagation (BP) algorithm, that needs training information in each step. The contributions of this thesis are the new approach to constructing neural network architecture and its training.
We propose a neural network solver for an inverse problem. The problem is that input data with complete teaching include defects and predict the defect value. The solver is constructed of a three layer neural network whose learning method is combined from BP and reconstruction learning. The input data for the defects are unknown; therefore, the circulation of an arithmetic progression replaces them; rightly, the learning procedure is not converged for the circulation data vut for the normal data. The learning is quitted after such a learning status id kept. Then, we search a minimum of the differences between teaching data and output of the circulation. Then, we search a minimum of the ...

A reliable and accurate downscaling model which can provide climate change information, obtained from global climate models (GCMs), at finer resolution has been always of great interest to researchers. In order to achieve this model, linear methods widely have been studied in the past decades. However, nonlinear methods also can be potentially beneficial to solve downscaling problem. Therefore, this study explored the applicability of some nonlinear machine learning techniques such as neural network (NN), extreme learning machine (ELM), and ELM autoencoder (ELM-AE) as well as a linear method, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), to build a reliable temperature downscaling model. ELM is an efficient learning algorithm for generalized single layer feed-forward neural networks (SLFNs). Its excellent training speed and good generalization capability make ELM an efficient solution for SLFNs compared to traditional time-consuming learning methods like back propagation (BP). However, due to its shallow architecture, ELM may not capture all of nonlinear relationships between input features. To address this issue, ELM-AE was tested in the current study for temperature downscaling.
In this paper, we suggests a algorithms of recognizing the disease region by extracting particular organ from medical image. This method can extract liver region in spite of input image including many organs and charged format by using multi-threshold of feed-back-structure for segmentation liver region, and suggest the recognition of disease region in extracted liver, using multi-neural network structured by RBF and BP, overcoming the defect of single-neural network. The algorithm in this paper is proficient in adaptation for a multi form change of input medical image. This algorithm can be used at tole-medicine through automatic recognition after recognizing of the disease region by real-tire medical Image.

Air qualify monitoring if a primary activity for industrial and social environment. Especially, the VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) are very harmful for human and environment. Throughout this research. we designed sensor array with various kinds of gas sensor, and the recognition algorithm with ANN(Artificial Neural Network : BP), respectively. We have designed system to recognize various kinds and quantities of VOCs, such as benzene, tolylene, and xylene.
