A long-term tunnel settlement prediction model based on BO-GPBE with SHM data

  • The new metro crossing the existing metro will cause the settlement or floating of the existing structures, which will have safety problems for the operation of the existing metro and the construction of the new metro. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor and predict the settlement of the existing metro caused by the construction of the new metro in real time. Considering the complexity and uncertainty of metro settlement, a Gaussian Prior Bayesian Emulator (GPBE) probability prediction model based on Bayesian optimization (BO) is proposed, that is, BO-GPBE. Firstly, the settlement monitoring data are analyzed to get the influence of the new metro on the settlement of the existing metro. Then, five different acquisition functions, that is, expected improvement (EI), expected improvement per second (EIPS), expected improvement per second plus (EIPSP), lower confidence bound (LCB), probability of improvement (PI) are selected to construct BO model, and then BO-GPBE model is established. Finally, three years settlement monitoring data were collected by structural health monitoring (SHM) system installed on Nanjing Metro Line 10 are employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of BO-GPBE for forecasting the settlement.

Comparative effect of dietary borage oil and safflower oil on anti-proliferation and ceramide metabolism in the epidermis of essential fatty acid deficient guinea pigs (필수지방산 결핍이 유도된 기니피그에서 보라지유와 홍화유 섭취의 표피 과증식 억제 및 세라마이드 대사에 미치는 효과 비교)

  • Purpose: Borage oil (BO) and safflower oil (SO) are efficacious in reversing epidermal hyperproliferation, which is caused by the disruption of epidermal barrier. In this study, we compared the antiproliferative effect of dietary BO and SO. Altered metabolism of ceramide (Cer), the major lipid of epidermal barrier, was further determined by measurement of epidermal levels of individual Cer, glucosylceramide (GlcCer), and sphingomyelin (SM) species, and protein expression of Cer metabolizing enzymes. Methods: Epidermal hyperproliferation was induced in guinea pigs by a hydrogenated coconut diet (HCO) for 8 weeks. Subsequently, animals were fed diets of either BO (group HCO + BO) or SO (group HCO + SO) for 2 weeks. As controls, animals were fed BO (group BO) or HCO (group HCO) diets for 10 weeks. Results: Epidermal hyperproliferation was reversed in groups HCO + BO (67.6% of group HCO) and HCO + SO (84.5% of group HCO). Epidermal levels of Cer1/2, GlcCer-A/B, and ${\beta}$-glucocerebrosidase (GCase), an enzyme of GlcCer hydrolysis for Cer generation, were higher in group HCO + BO than in group HCO, and increased to levels similar to those of group BO. In addition, epidermal levels of SM1, serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT), and acidic sphingomyelinase (aSMase), enzymes of de novo Cer synthesis and SM hydrolysis for Cer generation, but not of Cer3-7, were higher in group HCO + BO than in group HCO. Despite an increase of SPT and aSMase in group HCO + SO to levels higher than in group HCO, epidermal levels of Cer1-7, GlcCer-A/B, and GCase were similar in these two groups. Notably, acidic ceramidase, an enzyme of Cer degradation, was highly expressed in group HCO + SO. Epidermal levels of GlcCer-C/D and SM-2/3 did not differ among groups. Conclusion: Dietary BO was more prominent for reversing epidermal hyperproliferation by enhancing Cer metabolism with increased levels of Cer1/2, GlcCer-A/B, and SM1 species, and of GCase proteins.

Housewives' Perception on Obesity Related Variables of Family According to Child Composition of Household (가족 내 자녀 구성에 따른 가정주부들의 가족에 대한 비만 관련 변인 인지)

  • Housewives' perception on obesity related variables to their family members according to the composition of children in the family was explored. Ninety housewives responded to a questionnaire consisted of sociodemographic informations, body weight perception, eating behaviors perception, and physical activity level for herself as well as her family. They were categorized into three groups based on child composition of the family; boys only (BO), girls only (GO), and boys and girls (BG) families. Boys in BO showed higher value of height, weight, and WHR than girls in GO (p <.05), while no differences were noticed in BMI and the waist girth between the groups. Mothers of BO perceived boys were active while mother of GO did girls were inactive (p <.05). Girls in GO ate meals less regularly than boys in BO and girls in BG. In general, housewives' perception on body weight of family members was relied on BMI and waist girth. As mother's BMI increased, the boy's BMI in BO was also elevated (p <.05), but not in others. Mothers' perception on caloric intake and activity encouragement were not accounted for morphological characteristics. Results suggest that housewives perceived obesity related variables differently based on the composition of children of the family.

Studies on the Effects of the Capacitation Methods of Spermatozoas on in-vitro Fertilization and Cleavage Rate of Bovine Follicular Oocytes (수정능획득 처리법이 소 난포란의 체외수정 및 분할율에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The studies on the carried out to investigate the effects of capacitation method of spermatozoa on the in vitro fertilization and cleavage rate of bovine follicular oocytes. The ovaries were obtained from slaughtered Korean native cows. The follicular oocytes surrounded with cumulus cells were recovered by aspirating follicular fluids from the visible of diameter 3~5mm. The follicular oocytes were cultured in TCM-199 medium containing hormones and FCS for 24~48hrs in an incubator with 5% CO2 in air at 38.5$^{\circ}C$ and then matured oocytes were again cultured for 12~18hrs with motile capacitated sperm by preincubation of mKRB, treatment of HIS(high strength ion), Ca-IA(Inophore A), BFF(bovine follicular fluids) and heparin. The results obtained in these experiments were summarized as follows : 1. The in vitro fertilizatin and cleavage rate offollicular oocytes fertilized with capacitated spermatozoas in BO solution by preincubation of mKRB, treatment of HIS, Ca-IA, BFF and heparin method were 53.1%, 33.9%, 50.8%, 48.1%, 58.8% and 28.1%, 17.7%, 26.2%, 22.8%, 32.8%, respectively. And the fertilization and cleavage rate of heparin method was of highest of all. 2. The in vitro fertilization and cleavage rate of follicular oocytes fertilized with capacitated spermatozoas in BO solutin by both caffeine, BSA and heparin methods were 65.8%, 70.3% and 40.8%, 47.3%, respectively, and those rates were higher treatment of heparin+BSA, heparin+caffeine than treatment of heparin. 3. The in vitro fertilization and cleavage rate of follicular oocytes fertilized with capacitated spermatozoa in BO solution with heparin concentrations of 2, 5, 10, 20, 40$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml were 50.0%, 54.7%, 58.1%, 51.7% and 27.9%, 32.8%, 37.1%, 30.0%, respectively. And the fertilization and cleavage rate of follicular oocytes fertilized with capacitated spermatozoas in BO solution with 10$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml of heparin was the highest of all. 4. The in vitro fertilization and cleavage rate of follicular oocytes fertilized with capacitated spermatozoas in BO solution containing heparin with caffeine concentraton of 10, 20, 30, 40$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml were 71.4%, 74.3% and 70.6%, 70.0% and 45.7%, 47.3%, 44.1%, 41.4%, respectively. The fertilization and cleavage rate of spermatozoa fertilized in BO solution with caffeine and heparin together(70.3~74.3%) was higher than that of spermatozoa fertilized in BO solution with heparin(58.8%). 5. The in vitro fertilization and cleavage rate of follicular oocytes fertilized with capacitated spermatozoas in BO solution containing heparin with BSA concentration of 5, 10, 20, 30$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml were 63.6%, 62.9%, 66.7%, 60.3% and 44.1%, 43.5%, 48.5%, 42.7%, respectively. The fertilization and cleavage rate of spermatozoa fertilized in BO solution with BSA and heparin together(60.3~66.73%) was higher than that of spermatozoa fertilized in BO solution with heparin(58.8%).

Synthesis and Characterization of GAP or GAP-co-BO Copolymer-based Energetic Thermoplastic Polyurethane (GAP 및 GAP-co-BO Copolymer계 에너지 함유 열가소성 폴리우레탄의 합성 및 특성)

  • GAP or GAP-co-BO based energetic thermoplastic elastomers (ETPEs) were synthesized by changing the hard segment content percent in the range of 30~45% by 5% difference. Thermal and mechanical properties of GAP-co-BO based ETPEs were compared to those of GAP based ETPEs. FT-IR results showed that the capability of forming hydrogen bond increases with increasing the hard segment content in GAP/GAP-co-BO based ETPE, and also the GAP-co-BO based ETPEs are stronger than GAP based ETPEs in the hydrogen bond formation. DSC and DMA results showed that the glass transition temperature (Tg) of GAP based ETPEs increased with the increment of the hard segment content, while the Tg of GAP-co-BO based ETPEs was maintained even the hard segment content increased. The storage modulus at room temperature of the GAP-co-BO based ETPEs was higher than that of the GAP based ETPEs. This was due to the strong phase separation behavior of the hard and soft segment of GAP-co-BO based ETPEs, which further resulted in the stronger breaking strength and lower tensile elongation at break point for GAP-co-BO based ETPE than the GAP based one.

A Comparative Study of Local Newspapers' News Frame: Focus on Nuclear Waste Site Reporting (지역신문 뉴스 프레임 비교: 핵폐기장 관련 보도를 중심으로)

  • This study examines different news frames of local newspapers reporting the controversial 'Nu[lear Waste Site' issues which deeply split regions showing their intention to bid for the state affair. Three local papers were analyzed for this study, "Gwang-Ju-Il-bo" "Mae-il-sin-mun" and "Jun-buk-il-bo." Overall, the three local papers displayed widely divergent main news frames on the same issue. Firstly, "Gwang-Ju-Il-bo", and "Mae-il-sln-mun" showed the strong tendency of using 'counter frame' while "Jun-buk-il-bo" exhibited 'loral development frame'. Secondly, "Gwang-Ju-Il-bo", and "Mae-il-sin-mun" were frequently headlined 'Nuclear Waste Site', while "Jun-buk-il-bo" carried headlines 'Radioactive Waste Management Facility' overwhelmingly more often than the other two papers, indicating that headline key words are closely associated with the configuration of news frames. Thirdly, the main news frames remained consistent for "Gwang-Ju-Il-bo", and "Mae-il-sin-mun" even after the government's report about the possible connection of 'ion-beam irradiation-accelator' and 'Nuclear Waste Site.' On the other hand, "Jun-buk-il-bo" was significantly less headlined 'Nuclear Waste Site' while significantly more headlined "Radioactice Waste Management Facility." "Jun-Buk-il-bo" which is in stark contrast to the other two papers changed in its tone by increasing the 'local development frame' with decrease in the 'counter frame.' The "Jun-buk-il-bo"'s more frequent use of 'Radioactive Waste Management Facility' as a headline than "Nuclear Waste Management Equipment" is seen as its attempt to minimize negative image of Nuclear Waste and to promote favorable public opinion by highlighting aspects of economic benefits and the local development the construction would brind about. The major findings of this study further support the claim that media overage ends up a reality. The fact that Buan in Jun-buk Province made a successful bid for the construction is not a coincidence.

The effects of Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang administration on Metabolic Responses ; changes in the energy and electrolyte metabolism among long distance runners (보중익기탕(補中益氣湯) 투여가 장거리 달리기 선수의 에너지 및 전해질 대사에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective This experimental study was designed to investigate effects of Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang administration among long distance runners on changes of the energy and electrolyte metabolism. Materials and Methods All subjects were divided randomly with two groups, Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang Group (N=4) and control group (N=4) and performed to run the 400m track with 70% of HR max about 1 hour. The blood samples were collected from antecubital vein by 5ml syringes at before exercise, immediately after exercise, recovering-10 min. recovering-30 min, recovering-1 hour. These samples were used to analyze for the factors of the change on metabolic responses. First, the primary factors on the changes of the energy metabolism were checked ; Glucose, Free fatty acid, Lactate, LDH. Second, the primary factors on the changes of the electrolyte metabolism were checked ; Na+, CI-. K+. Results 1. The change of the energy metabolism 1) Glucose response was not shown significant difference between two groups. 2) Free fatty acid response in Bo-joong-ik-gi -tang group was significantly increased at recover-10 min. 3) Lactate response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was significantly decreased at immediately after exercise, recover-10 min, recover-30 min. 4) LDH response was not shown significant difference between two groups. 2. The change of the electrolyte metabolism 1) Na+ response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was shown significant difference between two groups at before exercise. 2) Cl- response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was significantly increased at before exercise, immediately after exercise. 3) K+ response in Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang group was significantly increased at recover-10 min. Conclusion According to the above results, it was shown that Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang had the positive effects on changes of the energy and electrolyte metabolism for the long distance runners.

Bibliographical Research on Yeogkwa Bo (역과보(譯科譜)에 대한 서지적 연구)

  • Yeogkwa Bo is a biographical source that was re-edited based on the primary sources such as Yeogkwa Bangmok which is the list of the successful applicants in Yeogkwa. 7 Kinds of the existing Yeogkwa Bo was studied and analyzed in bibliographical way. This study proves that the period of available record(of successful applicants' names) ranges from 1807 to 1891, although it has been mentioned before that the period of record covers as far as 1882. As a result of comparison of mentioned family names, family origins, total number of the successful applicants in Yeogkwa, and content of record, Yeog Bo of Dangrih University's shows the most extensive and substantial work, and Yeogkwa Bo of Jangseo Kag's is quite superior to other archives present at home. But both of them show problems such as errors or omission of some records, confusion in spelling and so on. Therefore, the above study implies that there should be process of checking through study of Yeogkwa Bangmok when making reference to Yeogkwa Bo which provides biographical information on family trees and origins as well as information on the individual successful applicants in Yeogkwa.

The Anti-tumor Effect of BoJungIkKeeHapDaeChilKi-Tang with Doxorubicin in MKN-45 (보중익기합대칠기탕(補中益氣合大七氣湯)과 Doxorubicin의 병용이 MKN-45의 항암효과에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to evaluate the anti-tumor and synergic effect of BoJungIkKeeHapDaeChilKi-Tang on doxorubicin, the inhibitory concentration(IC), IC50 and IC90 of single use of doxorubicin and BoJungIkKeeHapDaeChilKi-Tang with their concomitant treatment against MKN-45(Human stomach carcinoma) was observed using MTT(Microculture Tetrazolium test) assay. In addition, their anti-tumor effects were also observed in the xenograft nude mice models agianst MKN-45 cell lines. BoJungIkKeeHapDaeChilKi-Tang has only mimic direct anti-tumor effect against to MKN-45 cell lines but they were decreased general depressed signs induced by implantation of tumor cell lines and increased the total WBC and lymphocyte numbers. So, it is considered or expected that BoJungIkKeeHapDaeChilKi-Tang extracts were reduced by the critical toxicity of doxorubicin and shows favorable synergic effect with doxorubicin and BoJungIkKeeHapDaeChilKi-Tang extracts.

Effect of Dietary ${\gamma}$-Linolenic Acid on Plasma Lipid Metabolism in Rats (감마 리놀렌산의 혈액 지질 대사)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of dietary ${\gamma}$-linolenic acid on plasma lipid metabolism and anti thrombotic activity in male Sprague Dwaley Strain rats. Rats weighing an average of $100{\sim}120g$ were fed a experimental diets containing 5% lard (saturated fatty acids), corn oil(linoleic acid), evening promise oil(EPO, 9% ${\gamma}$-linolenic acid) or borage oil(BO, 24% ${\gamma}$-linolenic acid) for 3Odays, respectively. Though there were no significant difference in the food intake among the groups, the body weight gain of the BO group was significantly lower than that of other group. The spleen weight of the lard group was significantly lower than that of other group. The bleeding time of the BO group was significantly longer than that of other group. The blood clotting time was significantly tended to long in EPO and BO groups compared with lard group. The plasma triacylglyceride and total cholesterol concentration were high in order of lard, com oil, EPO and BO, groups and there were significant differences among the groups. The plasma HDL-C concentrations were high in order of BO, EPO, com oil and lard groups and there were significant differences among the groups. The plasma LDL-C concentrations were significantly the highest in lard group, but the lowest in BO group. These data indicate that ${\gamma}$-linolenic acid has a antithrombotic activity, and decrease the plasma triacylglyceride, total cholesterol and LDL-C concentrations in rats.
