In Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular networks, the transmit power control (TPC) mechanism consists of two parts: the open loop (OL) and closed loop. Most cellular networks consider OL/TPC because of its simple implementation and low operation cost. The analysis of OL/TPC parameters is essential for efficient resource management from the cellular operator's viewpoint. In this work, the impact of the OL/TPC parameters is investigated for homogeneous small cells and heterogeneous small-cell/macrocell network environments. A mathematical model is derived to compute the transmit power at the user equipment, the received power at the eNodeB, the interference in the network, and the received signal-to-interference ratio. Using the analytical platform, the effects of the OL/TPC parameters on the system performance in LTE networks are investigated. Numerical results show that, in order to achieve the best performance, it is appropriate to choose ${\alpha}_{small}=1$ and $P_{o-small}=-100dBm$ in a homogenous small-cell network. Further, the selections of ${\alpha}_{small}=1$ and $P_{o-small}=-100dBm$ in the small cells and ${\alpha}_{macro}=0.8$ and $P_{o-macro}=-100dBm$ in the macrocells seem to be suitable for heterogeneous network deployment.
This study analyzed dispersion characteristics and toxic effect in the small-scale continuous release of chlorine gas. We found that the Gaussian model using the Briggs' dispersion coefficient and the effective release height was better predicting experiments than the BM model. From chlorine concentrations calculated by Gaussian model, simulation results showed that the dispersion of chlorine was more affected by atmospheric stability and wind speed than release rate and that the toxic effect of chlorine gas was similar to the effect of parameters on chlorine dispersion. From effected areas with toxic criteria, damaged areas could be estimated to protect human.

E-Commerce is a buzzword well known for electronic commerce activities including but not limited to the online shopping, digital payment transactions, and B2B online trading. In today's digital age, e-commerce has been playing a very important and vital role in areas such as retail shopping, sales automation, supply chain management, marketing and advertisement, and payment services. With a huge amount of data been collected from various e-commerce services available, there are multiple opportunities to use that data to analyze graphs and trends. Strategize profitable activities, and forecast future trade. This paper explains a contemporary approach for collecting key data metrics and implementing cost-effective automation that will support in improving conversion rates and sales performance of the e-commerce websites resulting in increased profitability.

Until now, 29 fire accidents have occurred; 22 of them were caused by the interconnection of renewable energy sources that occurred during the rest period after the lithium-ion battery had been fully charged regardless of the seasons. The fire accidents of ESS were attributed to thermal runaway due to the overcharging of a few cells with the phenomenon of self-energy balancing, which is unintentional current flow from cells with a high SOC to the low cells if the SOC condition of each cell connected in parallel is different. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel configuration and operation algorithm of the BMS to prevent the self-energy balancing of ESS and presents a hybrid SOC estimation algorithm. From the test results of the self-energy balancing phenomenon between aging and normal cells based on the proposed algorithm and BMS, it was confirmed the possibility of self-energy balancing, which is unintentional current flow from cells with a high SOC to cells with a low SOC. In addition, the proposed configuration of the BMS is useful and practical to improve the safety of lithium-ion batteries because the BMS can reliably disconnect a parallel connection of the cells if the self-energy balancing current becomes excessively high.

The S-band Transponder for telemetry and command of small satellite is designed and fabricated as prototype model using COTS(Commercial Off-The-Shelf) components. QPSK modulator and demodulator of transponder is implemented by using FPGA for system extension. The transponder consists of RF Front End, RF Modulator, RF Demodulator, and MODEM. The measured results of fabricated transponder show BER of less than $1.1{\times}10^{-6}$ at -105 dBm input power.
We have been implemented 10 Gb/s-320 km of dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF) transmission. The optical link consists of a 10 Gb/s optical transceiver, an optical booster amplifier, 3 sets of optical in-line amplifiers, an optical preamplifier and transmission fibers. Firstly, we investigated the Q-factor characteristics in terms of optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) of 320 km of DSF, measured receiver sensitivity is -27 dBm and power penalty is 2 dB, respectively. We concluded that optical SNR degradation and path penalty gives rise to 1 dB penalty, respectively.

In this work, we study the physical layer solutions for 10-gigabit-capable passive optical networks (PONs), particularly for an optical link terminal (OLT) including a 10-Gbit/s electroabsorption modulated laser (EML) and a 2.5-Gbit/s burst mode receiver (BM-Rx) in a novel bidirectional optical subassembly (BOSA). As unique features, a bidirectional mini-flat package and a 9-pin TO package are developed for a 10-gigabit-capable PON OLT BOSA composed of a 1,577-nm EML and a 1,270-nm avalanche photodiode BM-Rx, including a single-chip burst mode integrated circuit that is integrated with a transimpedance and limiting amplifier. In the developed prototype, the 10-Gbit/s transmitter and 2.5-Gbit/s receiver characteristics are evaluated and compared with the physical media dependent (PMD) specifications in ITU-T G.987.2 for XG-PON1. By conducting the 10-Gbit/s downstream and 2.5-Gbit/s upstream transmission experiments, we verify that the developed 10-gigabitcapable PON PMD prototype can operate for extended network coverage of up to a 40-km fiber reach.
Hyalophora cecropia attacin-like antibacterial gene was isolated from Bombyx mori induced with nonpathogenic bacteria. It was expressed in Spodopfera frugiperda 9 (Sf9 cells using baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS), and examined its antibacterial activity. With a cDNA library constructed from fifthinstar B. mori injected with Escherichia coli(4 X IOhcellsllarva), differential screening was performed using naive and induced mRNA probes. BmInc6 clone was screened by partial nucleotide sequence and GenBank database analysis. A complete nucleotide sequence of Bmlnc6 cDNA was determined (GenBank, AF005384). Its insert size was 852 bp and had open reading frame that started translation at position 35 and stopped at 679. And its putative polyadenylational signal existed at 812 bp. The number of amino acid deduced from Bmlnc6 cDNA was 214 and hydropathy analysis showed that this peptide was hydrophilic. This peptide deduced by BmInc6 was named nuecin. When the nuecin gene was expressed in Sf9 cells using BEVS, about 950 bp of the transcripts was detected. In addition, SDS-PAGE analysis showed that the molecular weights of intracellular expressed protein and the mature protein secreted to culture media were approximately 23 and 20 kDa, respectively. The antibacterial activity of nuecin against E. coli and Bacillus subtilis was significantly high, demonstrating that nuecin had a wider antibacterial spectrum with gram negative and positive bacteria than attacin.

An active antenna(AA) can have wider bandwidth and more gain with small antenna size than those of passive antennas. However, AA inherently generates thermal noise and spurious signals from an active device. Moreover, the spurious performance of AA is very important in a highly sensitive receiving system since it is located at the front end of the receiving system. In this study, we developed an AA with $100{\sim}500\;MHz$, having the output P1dB higher than 3 dBm and little spurious signals in real environments. To achieve such performance, we designed an AA with 3-stage amplifier using CD(common drain) FET and 2 BJTs. Its electrical performances were simulated using ADS. The measurement results for typical gain, NF, OIP3, VSWR and P1dB in the required frequency band were 9.7 dBi, 10 dB, 14 dBm, 1.7:1 and 3 dBm respectively. They are in good agreement with simulation results. The unwanted spectrum level of the proposed AA is $10{\sim}30\;dB$ lower than that of the antenna with CS(common source) FET configuration at a west suburban area of Seoul, which shows that the proposed AA can be applicable to a highly sensitive receiving system for detecting unknown weak signals mixed with broadcasting and civilian communication signals.
