ANN-based Adaptive Distance Measurement Using Beacon (비콘을 사용한 ANN기반 적응형 거리 측정)

  • Beacon enables one to measure distance indoors based on low-power Bluetooth low energy (BLE) technology, while GPS (Global Positioning System) only can be used outdoors. In measuring indoor distance using Beacon, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) is considered as the one of the key factors, however, it is influenced by various environmental factors so that it causes the huge gap between the estimated distance and the real. In order to handle this issue, we propose the adaptive ANN (Artificial Neural Network) based approach to measuring the exact distance using Beacon. First, we has carried out the preprocessing of the RSSI signals by applying the extended Kalman filter and the signal stabilization filter into decreasing the noise. Then, we suggest the multi-layered ANNs, each of which layer is learned by specific training data sets. The results showed an average error of 0.67m, a precision of 0.78.

  • Rapid growth in mobile communication and the proliferation of smart devices have drawn significant utilization of machine generated data. Behavior tracking technology now are utilized in the various fields based on extracting data using the sensor and device. We deploy IoT based behavioral intervention system in Suwon mental health center to improve the effectiveness of non-medicine care for senior people. Using smart activity trackers and BLE scanner devices, we proposed a location-based behavioral intervention system and verify the integrity of the harvested data.

  • Wireless sensor networks(WSN), which are mainly used for indoor positioning, rely on the accuracy of RSSI. This RSSI is sensitive to several factors that cause interference, and there are foreign studies showing that temperature has a large effect on RSSI in indoor/outdoor environment among several factors. The temperature of the indoor space is uneven due to heat sources or air cooling systems indoors, and temperature changes frequently occur at certain locations. In particular, in case of an indoor fire, the accurate positioning system is required to guide an evacuation route, but a high temperature is locally formed due to a fire around the receiver, so the RSSI value could be influenced. In this paper, the effect on RSSI is studied by analyzing the correlation between SoC internal/local temperature and RSSI.

  • 정보통신 기술의 발달로 사물인터넷에 대한 관심이 증가하였다. 사물인터넷의 한 요소인 무선 큰거리 통신 기술에는 WIFi, 블루투스, ZigBee 등이 있다. 이러한 기술들 중 저전력 블루투스는 낮은 전력 소비와 범용성 덕분에 많은 각광을 밭고 있다. BLE(Bluetooth LE)의 한 형태인 비콘은 더욱 저전력이며, 패킷을 전달하는 방식 또한 기존의 블루투스와 차이가 있다. 본 논문에서논 컨텐츠 보안이 필요한 비콘 서비스의 예시로 비콘을 통한 새로운 형태의 음악 음반을 제시하였다. 또한, 그 보안 특성에 맞춰 패킷 이중화, RSSI, Serial Number Binding 등의 기술들을 사용한 보안 방법을 설계 및 구현한 보안 사레에 대하여 서술한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 블루투스 4.0(BLE) 기반의 비콘을 이용하여, 공항에서 물건을 찾을 때, 물건(가방)에 비콘을 장착하고 비콘의 신호를 받아 알림(Notification)을 주는 System으로써, 사용자의 편리성을 위하여 안드로이드 4.3이상 버전의 스마트 폰 Application으로 개발하였다. 스마트 폰과 비콘 사이에는 블루투스를 기술을 이용하여 통신하며, 비콘은 신호를 송신, 스마트 폰에서는 수신한다. 이러한 기능으로 Estimote사의 공개된 Software Development Kit(이하 SDK)를 바탕으로 개발을 진행하였다. SDK의 대표적인 기능으로 비콘의 정보와 연결 상태를 관리하는 객체, 그리고 Listener를 통해 범위 내 비콘을 탐색하는 기능을 정의할 수 있다. 또한 User Interface를 고려하여 사용자의 편이성과 접근성에 중점을 두어, 화면 구성에 많은 노력을 기울였다. 따라서 사용자의 배경지식, 연령대를 고려하더라도 쉽게 이용이 가능하도록 개발하였다.

  • IPS 측위는 GPS음영 지역인 실내의 특정 위치 정보를 판단하는 시스템으로 현재 위치에서 발생되는 신호 정보를 수집하는 시스템과 이 신호들로 구성된 실내 측위 지도, 측위 위치를 결정하기 위한 알고리즘 등에 따라 여러 종류로 나누어진다. 대표적인 IPS로 2.4Ghz, 5.0GHz 대역의 무선 신호(WiFi, BLE, Sensor Network, etc)를 활용하는 RF신호 기반 WPS 등이 있다. RF 신호를 기반으로 하는 실내 측위는 발생 기기의 고장, 장애물 발생, 채널 간섭 현상 등으로 인해 측위 시점 수집된 신호와 구축된 지도의 신호 정보가 달라 측위 정확도가 낮아지는 경우가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 앞서 언급한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 기존 RF 환경을 사용하는 IPS 방안에 대하여 분석한다. 또한 RF 이외의 실내 측위 기술들에 대해서도 설명하고 측위 정확도를 위해 단일 측위 방식이 아닌 복합 측위 방식에 대한 설계를 제안한다.

  • Internet of Things is one of the technologies that become a hot topic in recent years, is a technology that connects objects with wired or wireless network and share a information between objects. Gartner predicts that spread rapidly devices for end users, also increase revenue from enterprise equipment through the Annual 'Internet of Things' reports. By this trend, Internet of Things is becoming the platform of various kinds, the platform and the protocol for that have been developed a new technique. In this paper, we compared the performance of the communication protocol between devices in the Internet of Things, and propose a way to improve performance efficiency.

  • Worldwide casualties caused by earthquakes, floods, fire or other disaster has been increasing. So many researchers are being actively done technical studies to ensure golden-time. In this paper if a disaster occurs, use the IoT technologies in order to secure golden-time and transmits the message after to find the user of the accident area first. When the previous job is finished, gradually finds a user of the surrounding area and transmits the message. For national emergency information, OPEN API of Korea Meteorological Administration was used. To collect detailed information on a relevant area in real time, this study established the system that connects and integrates Crowd Sensing technology with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Beacon technology. Up to now, the CBS based on base station has been applied. However, this study designed and mapped DB in the integration of Beacon based user positioning and national administrative address system in order to estimate local users. In this experiment, the accuracy and speed of information dif6fusion algorithm were measured with a rise in the number of users. The experiments were conducted in a manner that increases the number of users by one thousand and was measured the accuracy and speed of the message spread transfer algorithm. Finally, became operational in less than one second in 20,000 users, it was confirmed that the notification message is sent.

An Vulnerability Analysis and Countermeasures for Security in Outdoor Risk Management System based on IoT Technology

  • Following the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the scope of application of IoT technology is expanding to industrial safety areas that detect and prevent possible risks in outdoor environments in advance, away from improving the convenience of living in indoor environments. Although this expansion of IoT service provides many advantages, it also causes security problems such as data leakage and modulation, so research on security response strategies is being actively carried out. In this paper, the IoT-based road construction risk management system in outdoor environment is proposed as a research subject. As a result of investigating the security vulnerabilities of the low-power wide-area (LPWA, BLE) communication protocol applied to the research targets, the security vulnerabilities were identified in terms of confidentiality, integrity, and availability, which are the three major elements of information security, and countermeasures for each vulnerability were proposed. This study is meaningful in investigating and analyzing possible vulnerabilities in the operation of the IoT-based risk management system and proposing practical security guidelines for each vulnerability.
