A Study on Reliability Improvement of BLDC Motor for Combat Vehicle in High Temperature Environment (고온 환경에서의 전투차량용 BLDC 모터 신뢰성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Combat vehicles require high levels of maneuverability, firepower, armor, and operability. A high-performance power system is required for optimal maneuverability. The fuel pump which supplies fuel stably is very important to achieve this. The fuel pump consists of a pump part, a motor part, and a control part. It is equipped with a BLDC motor. Numerous failures of the fuel pump occurred during vehicle operation when exposed to vibration, shock, and high temperature. The cause of failure was confirmed to be stator slip of the BLDC motor. Stator slip is a consequence of the interference loss between the stator and the housing of the motor part in an high temperature environment. The failure of the fuel pump was solved through size control of the motor housing and the stator. We performed vibration testing at high temperature for verification. This study contributes to improving the reliability of combat vehicles.

  • This paper shows the Design and implementation of sinusoidal BLDC motor drive logic using SVPWM method with FPGA. Sinusoidal BLDC motor driver logic consists of sine-wave PWM generator, dead-time and lead angle control logic. PWM generator logic is designed using SVPWM method for increase of 15.5% linear domain than general sine-wave PWM. This logic is verified and implemented using Spartan-6 FPGA Board. Test results show that THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) of motor-driving current is 19.2% and rotor position resolution is 1.6 degree.

  • This paper presents a study on the DSP controller and IGBT inverter driver design for the power-by-wire(PBW) system using BLDC servo motor. This BLDC servo motor system was realized with DSP(Digital Signal Processor) and IGBT inveter module. The PBW system needs speed control of servo motor for linear thrust action. This paper implements a servo controller with vector control and min-max PWM technique. As CPU of controller, TMS320F2812 DSP was adopted because it has PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) waveform generator, A/D(Analog to Digital) converter, SPI( Serial Peripheral Interface) port and many input/output port etc.

  • BLDC 전동기의 제어는 홀소자의 정보를 이용하여 적절한 상전류 전환을 통해서 쉽게 회전시킬 수가 있다. BLDC 전동기는 직류 전동기와 비슷하게 인가된 전압에 따라 간단하게 속도를 제어가 가능하고 BLDC 전동기의 토크를 제어를 위해 내부에 전류 제어기를 갖는다. 하지만 불확실성과 외란의 영향으로 제어 시 어려움을 겪는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 외란의 영향을 억제하는 방법으로 강인 제어 기법을 제안하여 불확실성과 외란의 영향을 억제하는 강인한 전류제어의 방법을 제시하며, 시뮬레이션을 통해 강인제어의 방법을 증명한다.

  • This paper is presented for the development of the brushless DC(BLDC) motor for the spindle motor of hard disk drives(HDD). A new BLDC Motor has the use of insulated, compacted, and iron powder for the armature core material of BLDC motors. Insulated iron powder in this paper is generally called soft magnet composite(SMC). The SMC is used for the stator of the motor instead of the laminated steel core. The motor used by SMC can have the good advantages in condition of the high frequency input power and small sized motor. It gets much more high efficiency than laminated steel core at same input power. The proposed motor has a technique of speed sensorless control. Experimental results show the performance of the proposed BLDC motors for an HDD.

  • The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. Owing to high efficiency and easy speed control of brushless DC(BLDC) motor, the demand of BLDC motor that has high power and low noises are increasing. Especially demand of interior permanent magnet(IPM) type BLDC with high efficiency and high power in electric motion vehicle is increasing. This paper presents the design of the BLBC motor for EHPS(Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) in 42V system and verified the characteristics by simulation and test results.

Analysis on Core Loss of Brushless DC Motor Considering Pulse Width Modulation of Inverter

  • In this paper, characteristics of blushless direct current (BLDC) motor including core loss are analyzed considering pulse width modulation (PWM) of inverter. Input voltage of BLDC motor due to PWM is calculated considering duty ratio and carrier frequency of inverter in order to control torque or speed of BLDC motor. For the calculation of core loss, the input current with harmonics due to PWM voltage is calculated by using equivalent circuit model of BLDC motor according to switching pattern and carrier frequency. Next, core loss is analyzed by inputting the currents as a source of BLDC motor for FEM. Characteristics including core loss are compared with ones without PWM waveform according to reference speed.

  • On this paper, digitally controlled flyback dc-dc converter and dc-ac inverter for bldc motor control are presented, which is used one processor. This system has 12V battery input for the flyback-converter, and the flyback-converter generates 30V output for BLDC motor inverter input. In order to compensate the flyback-converter, the transfer function of flyback converter is derived and digital PI compensator is adapted. Through bode diagram, stability of digital flyback-converter is analyzed. To verify the proposed system, digital simulation of the bldc motor drive using digital flyback-converter are performed.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 BLDC전동기 구동방식에 의한 등가회로를 스위치가 off되는 상의 전류 및 역기전력을 고려한 새로운 토크모델을 이용하여 사다리꼴 역기전력을 가지는 BLDC전동기의 전환시 발생하는 토크맥동과 평균토크를 개선할 수 있는 새로운 토크맥동 저감방식을 제안하였다. BLDC전동기의 전기적인 등가모델 및 전류현상과 전환시 발생하는 토크맥동에 대하여 기술하였으며 발생토크의 변동의 원인이 되는 역기전력과 전류와의 관계를 고찰하였다. 이를 바탕으로 전환시 발생하는 토크맥동을 개선하기 위하여 스위칭 소자가 off 되는 상의 전류 및 역기전력을 고려한 상승상과 감쇄상의 전류기울기 제어 및 전환시점제어를 통한 토크맥동 저감방식을 제안하였으며, 전환시 발생하는 맥동토크의 저감효과에 대하여 해석하였다. 이의 검증을 위하여 MATLAB/Simulink를 이용하여 제안한 토크맥동 저감방식의 저감효과의 타당성을 검증하였다.
