  • This paper studies the vibration characteristics of a vehicle seat on several driving conditions. Modal test for a vehicle seat is conducted for the three different boundary conditions: on the rigid jig, BIW and the full vehicle. In driving on various road conditions and speeds, vibration level is measured at several locations including seat mounting and seat-back. The vibration pattern for each driving condition is found where the suspension mode and the 1st bending and torsion modes of the seat make the major contribution on it.

  • Nowadays, the increasing global competition forces manufacturing enterprises to apply new technologies such as laser welding to manufacturing of their products. In case of automotive industries, they interest in assembly system for BIW (Body in White) carrying out laser welding. In this paper, the method of implementation for digital laser welding assembly system is proposed. Based on the requirements of assembly tasks obtained through product analysis, process modeling is executed by using the IDEF0 and UML model. For digital assembly system, the selected components are modeled by using 3D CAD tools. According to the system configuration strategy, lots of the alternative solutions for the assembly system of welding side panels are generated. Finally, the optimal laser welding system is chosen by the evaluation of the alternative solutions with TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method.

  • In recent automotive industries there has been significant increase in applications of computer simulation to the manufacturing of stamping dies for inner and outer body panels which greatly affect durability and aesthetic quality of automobiles. Enhancement of die quality and reduction of total die manufacturing time and consequently manufacturing cost are the visible outcome. However to successfully apply the result of simulation by a commercial package to the die manufacturing development of an optimal die manufacturing process is required upon the completion of analysis of forte and shortcoming of available sheet metal forming softwares. Based on the results of numerical analysis of front door outer panel forming. this paper evaluates the applicability of simulation results to the real die manufacturing for automotive body panels. Also it attempts to select an optimal die manufacturing process including design machining and tryout. Lastly it discusses the expected effects by adopt-ing the selected process in a real stamping die manufacturing facility.

이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. • In order to improve the vibration characteristics of mid sized passenger car automatic transmission at idle experimental and theoretical studies have been carried out. Idle shake in "D" range occurs by various reasons such as characteristics of body bending resonance between subsystems and engine mounts etc. Using full vehicle finite element analyses and modal tests we introduce the way to reduce the idle shake in the early design stage. It shows that the exciting forces are the 2nd order torque and force of engine. A powertrain system modes in "D" range are entirely effected by the additional boundary conditions of drive line. As a result the frequencies of subsystems are arranged to be lined up at the idle frequency range in order to avoid the resonances with subsystems To reduce the idle shake mounts of radiator are tuned to act as a dynamic damper to 1st bending frequency of the body. In addition a hydraulic mount which is optimized by Phase Shift Method is applied to the rear engine mount.e rear engine mount.

  • We suggest a design method for reducing the number of spot welds in the vehicle body in terms of durability. To reduce the number of spot welds, we use the DOE(Design of Experiments) analysis with two influence indices for the durability and the fatigue life of a spot weld itself. Through the suggested design method, we select spot welds that could be removed without serious reduction of durability of the whole model. We apply this new methodology to the BIW(Body In White) model of a vehicle by choosing some practical parts where durability-related point of view must be considered importantly by experience.

  • Many automotive companies are endeavoring to improve the quality of resistance spot welding by updating body-in-white (BIW) production line with adaptive control spot welding system to compensate the process disturbances such as gap, electrode wear, oxidized surfaces, poor fit up and adhesive etc. Most of the commercial adaptive weld controllers require proper "Initial Welding Schedule" or "Reference weld" to achieve compensation in welding parameters during real time welding. In this study, the compensation of a commercial adaptive weld controller had been observed and analyzed thoroughly for various process disturbances to find optimal initial welding schedule. It was observed that 90 percent of the expulsion current in constant current control as reference welding schedule conferred the maximum button diameter in adaptive control welding. Finally, effects of each disturbance in combined field disturbances system with adaptive control had also been confirmed with the design of experiment (DOE) by minitab(R)16 for combined disturbances situation and suitability of optimum initial weld current had also established with real body part validation test.

  • Length of a vehicle is an important variation to generate different variants of an automotive platform. This parameter is usually adjusted by embedding dimensional flexibility into different components of the Body in White (BIW) including the floor pan. Due to future uncertainties, it is not necessarily possible to define certain values of wheelbase for the future products of a platform. This work is performed to add flexibility into the design process of a length-variable floor pan. By means of this analysis, the cost and time consuming process of optimization is not necessary to be performed for designing the different variants of a product family. Stiffness and mass of the floor pan are two important functional requirements of this component which directly affect the occupant comfort, dynamic characteristics, fuel economy and environmental protection of the vehicle. A combination of Genetic algorithm, GMDH-type of artificial neural networks and TOPSIS methods is used to optimally design the floor pan associated with arbitrary length of the variant in the defined system range. The correlation between the optimal results shows that for a constant mass of the floor pan, the first natural frequency decreases by increasing the length of this component.

  • This paper presents an ASF (Aluminum Space Frame) BIW optimal design, which minimizes the weight and satisfies multi-disciplinary constraints such as the static stiffness, vibration characteristics, low-speed crash, high-speed crash and occupant protection. As only one cycle CPU time for all the analyses is 12 hours, the ASF design having 11-design variable is a large scaled problem. In this study, ISCD-II and conservative least square fitting method is used for efficient RSM modeling. Then, ALM method is used to solve the approximate optimization problem. The approximate optimum is sequentially added to remodel the RSM. The proposed optimization method used only 20 analyses to solve the 11-design variable design problem. Also, the optimal design can reduce the] $15\%$ of total weight while satisfying all of the multi-disciplinary design constraints.

  • For the purpose of improving crashworthiness qualities and maximizing weight saving efficiency, TWB's(tailor welded blanks) of quench-hardenable boron steel sheet formed by hot stamping processes has been used for automotive BIW (body in white) applications. In this work, the flow behaviors of TWB of quench-hardenable boron steel sheet were investigated in uniaxial tension tests at elevated temperature. TWB's having a uniform thickness of 1.4mm were fabricated by laser welding. Specimens with two weld line directions were used to test the mechanical property and reliability of the weld zone. After heating at $950^{\circ}C$ for 5min, the specimens were subjected to tension test at 650, 700 and $800^{\circ}C$ with a strain rate of 0.01 /s and at $700^{\circ}C$ with strain rates of 0.01, 0.1 and 1/s. The ultimate strength of the weld zones was higher than that of the base materials at 650 and $700^{\circ}C$, but was similar to the base metal at $800^{\circ}C$. Fracture occurred at the base material at 650 and $700^{\circ}C$, but at the weld zone at $800^{\circ}C$.
