Propose : Body composition by bioelectrical impedance analysis(BIA) is a very useful method of analysing body composition. BIA is non-invasive, inexpensive, nonhazaedous and reproducible technique. The aim of this study was to determine the level of agreement between body composition measurement by BIA and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA). Methods : Data was examined in 100 children(male 58; female 42), who visited Pusan National Hospital. Weight(kg) and height(cm) were measured, and body compositions were analyzed with fat mass, lean body mass, body fat percent by BIA and DEXA methods. Results : Comparison of the DEXA and BIA methods showed highly statistically significant correlations in measurement of human body composition(fat mass, lean body mass, body fat percent). Conclusion : BIA should be considered as the method of choice in measurement of human body composition, since it's non-invasive, reliable, rapid, nonhazaedous and inexpensive, using portable equipment.

For obesity management requires accurate measurement of abdominal fat. The purpose of this study was to find out the correlation between abdominal fat and lipid measured with BIA and CT. Secondly, This study investigate for usefulness of abdominal fat measured by BIA and CT as an obesity index. As a result, TG showed higher value in the overweight obese group than normal group but HDL showed lower value in the overweight obese group than normal group. TG and HDL appeared significantly relationship with by BIA and CT in the normal group. However, in the overweight obese group TG showed significantly relationship with the BIA. According to multiple regression analysis on BMF and TAF was affected by HDL in the normal group. And BMF, %BF was affected by TG in overweight obese group. In conclusion, abdominal fat showed significant correlation with lipid. Abdominal fat measured by BIA and CT to assess obesity index is considered as a useful way to evaluate.
Breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) has received increasing interest among plastic surgeons as a long-term complication of breast augmentation. Although the prognosis is usually good, mortality is a possible outcome. Most of the cases reported in the past two decades have been from the United States, Europe, and Australia, whereas cases of BIA-ALCL in Asia remain rare. Herein, we describe the first known case of BIA-ALCL in Thailand, in which a 32-year-old woman developed BIA-ALCL 3 years after breast augmentation using textured implants. The patient underwent bilateral removal of the implants and ipsilateral total capsulectomy. This case report-the first of its kind from Thailand-should increase awareness of BIA-ALCL among plastic surgeons in Asia. The true incidence of BIA-ALCL in Asia may be underreported.

This Study was done to estimate the availability of biological resistance analysis method in medical equipment companies in Korea, and if it is usefull in predicting risk of obesity and cardiovascular disease and managing of it, by means of comparing it with blood tests. Especially, we analyzed the correlation between circumference length and fat thickness of each site of body area, which are ones of among measurement values of the BIA. This study has the purpose to propose the use of BIA as basement of diagnosis for efficient management and assessment in the medical device industry in our country.
Breast implant-associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a rare T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized as CD30 positive and anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) negative. In 2016, the World Health Organization declared BIA-ALCL as a new disease entity. The first case of BIA-ALCL was reported in 1997, and as of July 2019, the United States Food and Drug Administration had cited a total of 573 United States and global medical device reports of BIA-ALCL, including 33 deaths. In all clinical case reports, except for those with unknown clinical history, the patient had received at least one textured surface breast implant. Although the etiology is not yet clear, chronic inflammation has been proposed as a potential precursor to tumorigenesis. The most common presentation of BIA-ALCL is peri-implant fluid collection following aesthetic or reconstructive implantation with textured surface breast implants. It can be accompanied by breast swelling, asymmetry, pain, skin lesions, lymphadenopathy, and B-type symptoms. Most cases are detected on average 7 to 10 years after implantation. Diagnostic specimens can be obtained with fine-needle aspiration or biopsy. BIA-ALCL is CD30 positive, epithelial membrane antigen positive, and ALK negative. It can be cured with complete surgical excision at the T1-T3 stage.
Adequate nutrition is important in maintaining optimal health. Malnutrition can expose individual to increased risks of morbidity and mortality. The purposes of this study were to determine the basal energy expenditure (BEE) of Korean healthy subjects and TPN patients using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) method and to compare these values with those predicted by Harris-Benedict equation (H-B). BEE values measured by BIA were compared with predicted BEE values by the H-B formula in 59 clinically stable TPN patients and 65 healthy volunteers. In healthy volunteers and TPN patients, statistically significant differences were not shown between the BEE values measured by BIA (1392.5 Kcal and 1325.9 Kcal) and those predicted by H-B formula (1384.1 Kcal and 1270.1 Kcal). In male volunteers, statistically significant differences were not shown between BEE values measured by BIA (1670.7 Kcal) and the H-B formula (1550.9 Kcal), but in female volunteers, statistically significant differences were shown between BEE values measured by BIA (1194.8 Kcal) and the H-B formula (1265.6 Kcal). In male TPN patients, statistically significant differences were shown between BEE values measured by BIA (1453.5 Kcal) and the H-B formula (1335.9 Kcal), but in female TPN patients, statistically significant differences were not shown between BEE values measured by BIA (1126.4 Kcal) and the H-B formula (1167.2 Kcal). In normal healthy volunteers, $90.8\%$ of BEE values measured by BIA and in TPN patients $89.8\%$ of BEE values measured by BIA were within $15\%$ of BEE values predicted by the H-B formula in non-obese subjects. In conclusion, BEE values predicted by H-B formula or measured by BIA can be applied to non-obese Koreans. However, these values should be confirmed with Indirect calorimetry for Koreans.

Purpose : Body composition is important to define and manage obesity and undernutrition. Obesity is a significant health problem with medical and psychological consequences for children and adolescents. Body composition analysis (BIA) is a simple, rapid, noninvasive, and reproducible technique. However, comparative analysis of body composition has not been done in young children below 7 years old. The aim of this study is to estimate antropometric data and body composition by BIA, and to investigate the correlation between anthropometric data and fat mass or fat percent in young children. Methods : We measured height, weight, body mass index (BMI), fat mass, and fat percent by BIA in 1,376 children aged 3-6 years of whom 688 were males and 688 were females. Results : Fat mass, fat percent, intracellular fluid, extracellular fluid, protein, and minerals were significantly higher in the obese group. A significant positive correlation exists between fat mass and BMI or weight. A significant positive linear correlation was also noted between fat percent and BMI. Protein, weight, fat mass, and fat percent were significantly different among groups. Conclusion : BIA is an objective, accurate method to estimate body fat in childhood obesity cases. Fat mass and fat percent data acquired by using BIA highly correlated with BMI. However, a large-scale study is needed to diagnose obesity in young children.

Blind interference alignment (BIA) scheme has demonstrated a way of interference alignment (IA) without channel state information at transmitter (CSIT). While it shows superior performance in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime stemming from the maximal degrees of freedom (DoF) gain, BIA scheme achieves inferior sum-rate performance in low SNR regime. This paper proposes a dual-mode transmission strategy which switches between single user (SU) SISO with receive mode selection and the BIA scheme depending upon the range of SNR. First, we derive a closed-form achievable rate for each transmission-mode. Secondly, we propose a low-complex transmission-mode selection algorithm.
